Depends where you are. If you are in the top tier its not so easy to dance.
Get yourself some floor seats and you will dance all night. Its a totally different atmosphere down there and makes the gig 100x better (if thats possible!!). I even like Black Sweat down on the floor the guitar is the best instrument in the world!

Just dance & enjoy yourself!
I sat in a boring section too, but I danced like crazy They prob all stared at me as tho I was but I don't care as I'm there to enjoy myself! It might inspire the sit down foot tappers to get up & boogie

I was on my feet as soon as the lights went down at the start of the concert. I think I heard a sigh from behind me but pretty much everyone was on their feet in my section. I'd do the same wherever I was sitting.

Then I went to the aftershow and danced there to - opening night it was brilliant!!! Going tomorrow and Saturday and just can't wait.

Dance Dance DANCE!!! Wherever you are!! I was in the top tier for my first show on Aug 4th and, yes, whilst it is quite steep up there and somewhat precarious, how can you not get up and groove???!!!!
The atmosphere is a bit stifled in the Upper Tier (fortunately, all my other shows have been lower tier), but me and my friend were the first to get up and dance in our upper block and most of the rest of the block then followed suit - and it changed the complexion of the concert experience. If anyone behind complains about you getting up and dancing, politely remind them that Barbara Streisand played a couple of weeks ago ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Get up and shake your thang, even if you're in the most boring section possible... Always remember that you will never see any of the people around you again, and if you like getting down , do it!
I was on the floor in C2 on Tuesday - five rows from the stage - and it was like being at a tragic wedding, loads of people standing around kind of watching, even when His Purpleness came over to play all of ten feet away (shakes head in disbelief). I go to a lot of gigs and I've come to the conclusion that it's simply loads more fun if you give in to your emotions - dancing makes you happy, so do it. Final comment: I think it might be a British thing - I've given up seeing another favourite band in the UK altogether and I go to see them in Europe instead when they tour - crowds in Spain and Italy seem to be much more fun to be a part of. Anyone know different?

Anyone know different? I think it largely depends on who you go and see. At the Madonna gigs last year at Wembley Arena the whole place was on its feet from the moment the lights went out to the end of the show. I can see your point though, British audiences can be a bit more reserved...but there are always exceptions to the rule. When we went to the show on 4th August our whole block was rocking!! www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

Pity they didn't just have end stage and the whole floor as standing. On the other hand that wouldn't have given such a good view for all the seats and there wouldn't have been any room for the VIP section

Can't wait to go back Yeah, you should never apologise for dancing at a Prince concert, and just like someone said before, how can you not dance?! This ties in with the post about non prince fans being present - What the hell is all that about?! I was at the front of the stage on the 7th and was surrounded by boring middle aged couples who frowned on us dancing (those seats were a lot of money)!!! That just does not make sense to me. Aren't all Prince fans supposed to feel the music? We need to lead by example!

I WAS AT THE 4TH AUG CONCERT IN ROW D, AND EVERYONE WAS DANCING (I WAS ON THE GREAT SIDE, DANCE YOUR ASS OFF, WHO CARES WHAT OTHERS THINK, I PRACTICALLY TRIED TO RUN ON STAGE! AND GOT A TELLING OFF BY ONE OF THE BOUNCERS, BUT I HAD THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE, ITS A CONCERT "Sometimes being a cold hard bitch is all a woman has left."

I was dancing on Tuesday, but I wanted to bust out some better moves, and had to restrain myself from spinning and getting down on the floor in the aisle. So how people can not dance is beyond me! [Edited 8/16/07 15:52pm]
