Fantastic night - Main show was great although I didn't 'feel' much (like pretty much every show since Lovesexy '88), but great setlist and performance. The aftershow however, was something else - one of my favourite Prince experiences. Empty Room was awesome and was just the beginning of a very special night. Every side of Prince was evident last night - serious, soulful, playful, funky, intense, rockin', and fun. Magic.

And Beverly did well in my opinion. Never been a fan as such, but thought her warm up was good and the crowd was definitely into her, whatever people on here might think (especially those dweebs who weren't there)

Obviously directed at me.
Just because I have enough 'musicology' in me to distinguish the difference between the small fries and big potatoes, doesnt make me a dweeb.
Anyway, a shows a show and im glad so many enjoyed it. Lets hope Prince is encouraged to do more..

Awesome show, best I've ever been to. Wasn't expecting anything when I heard that they had taken all reference to Prince off the listings on ticketmaster.

Did anyone else notice him make a reference to breakfast during the main show then say '3121'? It was then when I started to hope for something! And when the guy at the door was telling everyone that photography of any sort was not allowed.....

Doesn't real life seem boring after a show like that?

amazing aftershow dunno if he will top it in my opinion it was the best so far the only downside is i have a feeling the rest of the aftershows will be a let down from now on lol oh well i thought the same after the aftershow on the 7th and i was surprised to get an even better one (14th) so who knows, going again tommorrow and have a feeling we wont get anything near what we did on tuesday, if anything at all but if we dont i am still on a high from the last one so doubt i will care anyway razz

Shame you didn't go, if you had then you wouldn't have made the comment about Bev. I've been into her music for most of her career and it has been my dream to see Prince and Beverley together on stage together for years. I had tears in my eyes last night! Both for her and myself!

You probably don't know but she is a huge Prince fan - as she said last night "I have dreamt of this moment (being on stage with Prince) since I was nine years old and I'm 34 now!"

Beverley is a top class life performer, completely in the same niche as Prince. She lives and breathes music, feels it in her soul! That is why she shone last night and that is why the crowd were 100% with her and she made the place buzz for Prince's own amazing performance!

Well done Bev. I know how much this meant to you and that you were in musical bliss for every moment, as most of us there were too! wink

She is average at best. It takes more than a loud voice and screaming to make a star performer. There is nothing special about Beverley at all, she doesnt stand out and will not be remembered in 10 years time. I wasnt there but im sure she didnt make the crowd buzz, Prince did. Theres a reason why BKs career is non existant and thats because she is a small fish in a big pond. I was not present last night but have heard BK live at several other music events in the past.

i have to agree. whilst she obviously can sing and has a very powerful voice, her high notes sound shrill and not unlike the chipmunks..... still, i was only there waiting for prince anyway razz

Yup - he sure did! But I for one wasn't expecting any lyrics and, for sure, he didn't sing it.....but still, amazed to even hear the riff to be honest smile

At least, I was hoping he wouldn't change it a la "Gett Off"

"I'll give you Scriptures,
Til you've had enough....!" lol

People who worry about work or not getting enough sleep - I like to apply "the deathbed test": when you're on your deathbed how are you going to look back on your life? Highlights, regrets, that sort of thing. You're never going to think, "I wish I had spent more time at the office", are you...
I think I'd regret losing my job and not being able to feed my kid a lot more than missing out on a Prince show. Call me strange but that's how it is for me. biggrin
RIP sad
