Well I went last night and it was the most amazing time of my life - even counting my wedding and the birth of my 'twinz' (my husband/kids won't read this). I'm not a big fan of 'Purple Rain' and I've heard him play it quite a few times before (incl. the first night) but last night was outstanding. He was just on fire on the guitar - even though the show was shorter than the first night, the man was just far superior. There was less brass and more Prince! He seemed to be in good spirits and we knew walking out that we were probably going to be missing an amazing aftershow - as Prince had seemed in such a good mood. However, we just couldn't do it (the clipper boat is great - but not if you're trying to get back to East London!). I am just praying that last night is not going to colour how I feel about my next 2 nights (god - how can I not be going to more than 4 shows? - this was the most I could get past my husband and my bank manager).

Everything last night was amazing - and who the hell goes and watches the dancers? I couldn't even tell you what they were doing - as soon as Prince is on that stage - my eyes don't waver from him for a moment! NOTHING can be more important than watching him.

Prince played a sick bass solo on Black Sweat which made my night as hes one of my bass playing gurus! After the solo he went to hand the bass to a member of the crowd but cheekily pulled it back when the fan made a grab for it lol.

I stayed around for a while after the encore just incase he did another like on opening night. While we were waiting to see if he'd come back on, the crew carried a keyboard with a heart shaped stand onto the stage. The crowd cheered, clearly thinking there would be another encore (and a solo Piano one at that!). Then an anouncer said they would be closing shortly and we had to leave over the tannoy.

Like many, the aftershow would have meant missing the train home but I did get the impression he was saving his energy for something tonight hence the fairly short performance. Wish I could have gone though.

hey dude!!! Long time no bollock chatting!
U av fun last nite then? Funnily enough I didnt see U there.....but I was standing about a metre away from the piano that they pulled out from the stage ryt at the end before they packed up.....white and pink shirt.....I was a stride away from Princes guitars!!!
I asked 1 techy who was holding Princes Blue fender if I could shake his hand.....after about 3 secs of thinking about it he laughed, bless him. I wouldve taken pictures but I had crew and staff all around me and woulda bin busted quicker than George Michael on a "piss break".

I was at the fronta the Q for the aftershow (after waiting for 10mins) when my dad says he has 2 be up 4 work and cuz he was driving I had 2 leave.....BUGGA!!!!

Loved the show tho, more enjoyable than Friday 10ths cuz I was alot closer....

Stand out moments 4 me were "Forever In My Life" and "BlackSweat" which is 1 of the funkiest things Ive ever heard.....waaayyyy better than the album version.

Last night was truly the best time I've ever had!! Forever in My Life can now be safely ticked off my wishlist, how smug am I today even with no sleep.
I thought I could go without seeing Purple Rain ever again really, seen it lots and not one of his best songs (in my opinion of course) BUT it was amazing. Even better when you see the person next to you reduced to tears!!
Hearing Prince say 'thankyou from the bottom of my heart' choked me as it felt like he really has gotten into it now and is understanding our love for him.
I'm not sure how much more of a heartfelt thankyou I can get across apart from dancing, clapping, singing and whooping like a loon.
I should also say thanks to my Big Sis who let me borrow her cherished Prince CD's when I was just 11 and really annoying. Hope I've made up for it over the years, if not I just bought you some aftershow tix!

25 days and counting till the next one.....
I love you Baby, you know the rest...

wall fucking hyprocrite ..i'm never playing 1999 again ..blah blah blah ..

damn can these 21 nights end already so he can go study on how 2 make a more balanced show or leave these fucking hits alone geez ...

i love his music but ghatdamn i'm getting so frustrated of him not living up 2 his word

i would rather c him do a concert where it's a 1000 seater doing what makes him truly unique and awe inspiring then seeing him in a 20,000 arena going through the motions and having a miserable time.

come on prince where has the TRUE Prince gone?
[Edited 8/15/07 12:44pm]
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Great concert! Forever In My Life was a welcome surprise, and wow, was his guitar playing on fire last night or what?! A similar setlist to when I went on the 1st, but so many great solos here and plenty of showing off. Brilliant.

Highlights for me were 1999 as the opener, and the super-extended bass intro to Black Sweat. So funky.

And afterwerwards... he totally owned the Indigo at the Aftershow, but I'm not sure I have words to descibe that yet!
Eye like pretty things, and u're just as pretty as u can b...

Trust me, he's neither going through the motions nor having a miserable time. Don't forget that there's the after shows for that small venue, let him do what he wants thing too.

in my angst i left out a word saying that i would be the one having the miserable time. as 4 the aftershows being the small venue..it should b the other way around ..let the aftershows b the greatest hits venue and let the main show b the focus of where he's at now

Not quite as good as last Tuesday which was awesome but still pretty damn good. Prince was on stage for pretty much all of it. No Wonderful world this time, instead Renato and Mr. Hayes played some electronic sounds on their synths.

Prince played a lot of guitar tonight and there were some great solos, particularly at the end of Shhh and 7. Seemed to be a lot less horns this time too.

Plenty of hits tonight and all in good length versions, no medley's. There was no solo sessions with the guitar or piano, everything was done with the full band.

Thought we were going to be cover free tonight but they slipped in Crazy near the end.

Can't believe he started with 1999, considering he supposedly retired it after the year 2000 concert. The price of the ticket was covered there and then, everything else was a bonus. And what a bonus Forever In My Life was, did not see that one coming at all.

There's no way I was going to the aftershow but considering this was a relatively short main show, he could be playing. I guess we'll hear about that shortly.

tuesday 14th was great, feel slightly ripped off on the ticket front, £235 to be behind the stage is not value for money, but didnt let it spoil the night, sound could have been better but we were sat pretty much under the speakers, the aftershow was great, he came on around 1 and played to about 230, he finished with girls and boys which was amazing,

The back row... lol, row F. With the loudmouth Essex man behind me (who thankfully shut up when P came on)

I was in Row C,It was a great night eh?.. I doubt if you missed me ! I'm a big girl ! I was wearing a long floaty purple paisley top? I was surrounded by piss heads who were just spilling their drinks everywhere and only knew 'the hits' and shouted through the rest of the songs. The bitch in front of me even went to stand on her seat as Prince came on! Needless to say I pushed her off, why people like that are allowed to mix with hardcore is beyond me!

There was some guy behind me singing at the top of his lungs and bashing one of those symbol tamborines. I nearly had words but I glared at him a few times and that seemed to do the trick. He seemed like a proper fan as he knew most of the lyrics but I had paid to hear Prince sing not listen to his tune less screaming. Im all for people enjoying the show but that should not effect someone else's enjoyment. We all paid for our tickets after all. Thank goodness he stopped though lol.

i wouldn't worry about missing the train as there are alternative transports, i hope that you have considered the thames clipper boat service, its good and cost effective.

Can I get to kings cross on there? If so that would be perfect.

Haha no way dude. Yeah Ive not been on here much till recently. Been feeling the Prince geek in me making a return lol. I was in Row C Seat 74 and Im pretty sure that I was sat behind you the whole time. Absolutely loved it. The bass solo made my night and I swear he made eye contact with me during the Purple Rain guitar solo! I was a bit close to security to for any pics too, damn that Guitar tech was a good catch lol.

You going to anymore concerts?

You won't get to Kings Cross on the clipper, it's nowhere near the river.

Wow!

Just got back from my London break and Tuesday's show was just amazing.

I've only been to the one show, so have nothing to compare it to (other than the umpteen times I've seen him on previous tours). But the highlights for me;

1999. Oh my fucking God! It took me a while for it to sink in that he really was playing this song and opening with it too.

Forever In My Life. Loved the chanting and the really high-pitched one that he asked the one side of the audience to do again.

Purple Rain, Let's Go Crazy, Kiss, Guitar. I know some people don't like the fact that he's playing the same thing over and over, but when you haven't seen him for 12 years, it's great to hear those songs played live again.

My block (110, row C) was excellent. High enough to see everything going on and yet still feel like you're on the floor. And the whole block was up, dancing, singing and hollering from the moment we first heard the 'Don't Worry...' intro. I'm glad we were sat at the 'arrow' end of the stage though, he hardly ventures towards the round bit.

And even my partner, who's not a fan, was enjoying every moment (he's not a fan of concerts generally). He was whistling, singing and hollering like a mad thing too.

So, it may have been shorter than the other shows but I had a rip-roaring time. Would love to have gone to the aftershow, but it was hard enough to drag my partner to the main concert. Mind you, he did say he'd happily go to the aftershow once he'd seen the main show, but we wanted to go to Kew Gardens in the day after and if we'd have done the aftershow, we'd never have made it (Kew Gardens are lovely, by the way)

Now, with regards to the O2 itself. Lovely place, but the walk to entrance H is like walking through a building site. All empty and boarded off - hardly the wonderful relaunch of the Dome people are being led to believe. Seems like only half of it is being used.
And the security staff there are stupidly paranoid and strict.
I was texting a Beverley Knight fan during her performance and some dumbo security guy was shouting at me that photography wasn't allowed. I just looked at the stupid dumbass and rolled my eyes - if he can't tell the difference between texting (i.e. holding the phone on my lap) and taking a photo (holding the phone up and pointing it at the stage) then he deserves all the flack he will hopefully get.

Getting back on the tube was a breeze, too. Just make sure you walk as quick as possible out of the venue and overtake as many people as you can. We pretty much hit the station and got on the second train that left.

Dammit!!!! I wanna go again!!!!!

Just a bit sad i missed the last encore, the lights were on for ages and the stewards were ushering people out.....

I really enjoyed Tuesday's show - it just didn't last long enough for me (but even if he had played for twice as long I would have felt the same way). The stuff I really enjoyed was 7, Black Sweat, Let's Go Crazy, I Feel 4 U, Take Me with U . His voice was so gorgeous on Somewhere Here On Earth (and I'm only just getting in to the Planet Earth album). He didn't seem to dance too much (or maybe I just didn't see because I was at the back) but when he did his dancing was great. And he looked really cute, when he stood next to Maceo Parker. My favourites concerts were LoveSexy and One Nite Alone, so I knew this was never going to be the same, but 21 Nites in London is up there in my top three.

Nothing compares 2 U was a great ending. I shed a few tears.

yeah, it's still not finished. however, were you aware that you didn't have to go in through your designated entrance? i was entrance h as well but i was overheard saying how far we'd have to walk to my friend by a security guard, and he was like 'no, it's ok. just come in this way'. fantastic venue so far i have to say.
