Sorry if it has been posted somewhere else but I couldn't find it using the search function, but does anyone know if cameras are allowed into the O2 main concerts.I'm going 24th/25th Aug and was going to bring my camera.Are they allowed?

I called the O2 directly and was told that cameras are not allowed.

I have just bought a ticket on ticketmaster by ticketfast, and on the electoronic tickets it says:

AEG LIVE PRESENTS
PRINCE
STRICTLY NO PHOTOGRAPHY
THE O2, LONDON

Isn't like that on my 'proper' tickets (ones through the post) - so I am guessing now that they are clamping down on it even more.

Would love to take my camera because I have really good seats and will get good photos, but if he doesn't want us taking photos I'm not gonna start snapping away. I know it's like your own momento, but you have to respect what the performer/s request. To be honest I will enjoy the shows more because I wont be making sure that I get a few really good pictures to go in my gig foler, I can just get into the music more. It's a curse, they always ban photography whenever I am close and never when I'm further away - so you can all blame me

I was at last fridays gig... going through security I went through the ' with Bag ' section.. ( i had my manbag ) - I opened it and asked the guy what he's after. He just said a camera, I said no, he didn't look in my bag. Got into the arena and saw 100s or even 1000s of people using cameras, not phones, but cameras... I think they are looking for professional photography gear... they must be as every phone has a camera on these days. I took some photos with my phone and they came out great !

... and there's me remembering in 2002 at Hammersmith when we were forced to hand in our Discmans and pay for the priviledge of using their cloakrooms. How could you record anything on a Discman? No-one had iPods with microphones back then, not even camera phones

Lots had cameras and staff asked them to put them away or they would have to leave the show. This was consistent with messages given before the show. The O2 staff we actively looking for folks.

I've been freakishly unlucky with sneaking cameras into places before when half the audience also have them, have better quality ones and take way more photos than me. Somehow it's always me than gets my stuff confiscated, so I just don't bother anymore.

Irrespective of whether you have a camera in your bag or whether they search it though, if they catch you taking photos there is a chance you could be thrown out. Is that really worth it? I personally wouldn't take the chance. It states on the Ticketmaster website and also at the venue that photography isn't permitted. Anybody who takes cameras in the arena and takes photos is doing so at their own risk but certainly the official line is that they are most definitely not allowed.

Yeah I agree, I won't be taking it again anyway, it was far too heavy round my neck while I was dancing, ended up putting it away. Would rather have free flow dancing next time

As usual Prince doesn't want photos taken and there were loads of people taking shots with their phones but anyone spotted with a camera could expect to hear from the bouncers but with 20000 people they can't stop everyone. The stage is brilliant so well worth getting a shot from a distance when the lights are playing.
