Best place to be in the Aftershow?

Just wondering whether the floor standing section is ok? How tightly packed is it down there?

best place 2 b during the 'aftershows' ?

if friday and saturday night's reviews r any guide, then i would suggest the best place would be - at home, in bed, prefferably with a good man or good woman, (if your lucky, a 'bad' man or woman !)

Hi - it is so easy to get right up front - just get in the queue early after the main show. You have to be prepared to then just stand there for a bit, I wished I had got a bottle of water or something and snuck it in.

I was right up at the stage on the opening night - I know I keep going on about it here, but OH MY GOD! I actually touched Prince's guitar when he chucked it to the audience after his first jam, and then I touched his little red boot later on.

THAT'S how close you can get!

Other than the chance to be standing at the front for an hour or two, is there any point to queueing up for the aftershows?

I mean, couldn't I take my time and turn up quite a bit later and miss out on a whole bunch of nothing, given that there'll probably be no live music until at least 1am?

Or is it so crowded that it's vital to get in early and grab a place?

Anybody?

i got there early and was downstairs ath the very front, but you will lose your place if you want a drink or want to go to the toliet, you will be standing for a long time though, i was very close, but prince was on for 2 mins, i would turn up at 12.30 1am when the music might poss begin

I went to the aftershow on the first night and got there after the solo encore. There was a long line but I stood on the bar area just a step up off the dance floor. I had a great view (I am short) and I had plenty of room for dancing. I thought the aftershow was well worth the $50 (american). The evening was one of the best I've ever had. There was plenty of room down on the dance floor even when Prince was on stage. If you want up front go early and if you don't go later as either way the venue is small enough that you can enjoy the beautiful music and the musicians that make it. So go when you want and have fun.

Thanks very much for that, both of you.

I'll be on my own with no-one to talk to to pass the time (or to hold my place if I go to the bar!), so I think I'll take it easy and head down there later on when there's less of a queue and watch from the back - and if I feel the need to shake my stuff then it's good to know there's still room on the dancefloor even if you're the last man inside the venue.

After the band has finished playing the place to be is the top end bar. Keep an eye on those fire exits either side of the toilets. He made a few appearance going backwards and forwards from them. And the first select few to actually see this he shook there hand over the secuity guards. My partner included.

Amazing!!

Here's another question for the helpful Orgers. Can you buy tickets to the aftershows on the night? I'm slightly worried that I won't have the required energy to stay up till 3am (as I'm working that day from 7am) - I'd kind of like to leave the decision till the night. Is that possible?

There was aftershow tickets on sale the 1st night as well. But they were for the stadium seating upstairs. I think the floor is the best place to be but they were sold out. I went by myself as well and met lots of great people. Even if you have worked since 7 am you can always sleep later. lol

You're probably right!

It looks like Grupo Fantasma will be playing the aftershow on Tuesday night (that's what it says at the Pigalle Club website - the venue they're playing on Monday night). They are an awesome band in their own right who I'd be pretty happy to see anyway, but Prince loves them and has played with them before so there's a good chance he may make an appearance that night. I am going off to buy a ticket right now.

We were able to buy tickets for the aftershow (4th) from the box office beofre the main concerts (saving on booking fees etc). We wanted downstairs standing tickets (for the dancefloor!) but they only had upstairs seated but what the **** we went for it and in the end we are glad we did. The door staff did not seem to bothered where you went so we got in downstairs and had a funkalicous time. When else do you get to hear classic Prince tunes (DMSR!!!) in a club. Yes, we would have liked Prince to play more than 5 mins - but you can't have it all.

My only complaint was all the people siting on the floor looking at the stage for the whole night, They did not add to the atmosphere - and maybe if Princer saw everyone going for it he might have been enlcline to give us a
bit more of his time.

Anyway I would recomend downstairs and that is where I will be at my next show - 9th Sept!

Thanks guys (& gals) for the tips... Am inclined to go with the idea of being at home in bed doing the kind of thing you should be doing after a Prince concert, maybe listening to Just My Imagination from Sex Machine, for that aftershow feeling!

If Prince is under contract to play at the aftershows, but sees that most people are too pissed to care about his music, he ain't gonna have his heart in it, so where's the enjoyment?

There were no people sitting on the floor the night I was there. Nor did I see any fighting break out. It seems that each night is very different. But I also think that whatever attitude you have will shape the night. So Matthew get out there and shake that thing. If I was still in London I'd be there...

we were standing downstairs on Friday ..there's loads of space - you don't really need to rush to be honest as it's quite small and wasn't too packed. Am standing again next Sat out of choice ... and could only get seated for the 21 Sep aftershow - but would have preferred Standing - we'll see.

Re whether you need to rush over there - no I don't think so - we didn't and we were fine - had a great little place just up the step on the left.. (to watch Dr j ! ;o) )

Am on my own this Sat .. am not 'worried' about it as we saw loads of people on their own - standing around enjoying the music. Go. Buy tickets before. Enjoy. I'd been up since 6 on Friday - I work long hours .. didn't get to bed until 5 the next morning (as stayed until 4am) .. and was tired but thought how often is he here. You have to take the opportunities when life presents them.

I hope you have a fantastic time.
He was right - a new name does feel mighty fine....now for some fun - MWA HA HA HA

Me and my mate went to get something to eat - got served with food at 12.30 at Frankie and Bennies

There was still music being played (the infamous Friday aftershow) so dont be fooled into q'in up - we got in right away at 12.30.

There are a lot of aggresive knobs at the front who seemed to be getting drunk, and they then shoulder barged (including doing it to women) they way back up to the front after getting in some drinks.

My advice is the stand BEHIND the metal railings where the floor has a step up of about half a foot - this means your higher up which makes up from being further away and the view is great - not to mention being closer to the bar to get your red bulls in

Not wanting to be squeezed into one place all Friday evening I opted to chill out at the back. I was stage left in the space between the barrier & DJ booth, plenty of room to move around and dance. Also, when Prince came on stage I had a great view of the whole stage without having to stare at the back of someones head 2 inches from my nose lol

Yes you can buy them on the night, I went to see the show last night (11th August) and went to Indigo 2 first to have a look at the stage etc, really lovely girl took on a little tour at around 5pm.She said that Prince is there every night and has said he will PERFORM on 17 nights out of 21!!! Tickets for downstairs standing (the place to be) went on sale at 6pm, there was quite a line by then, I did'nt get them cause I'm going 5 more times with friends and gonna go another time, hope he's there though, bit of a gamble.

That's good to hear. I've been to the main show on my own and I'll probably end up going to the aftershow at least once on my own.
