It was a fun aftershow; it indeed all depended on the moment; we indeed owe Beverly Knight.

I am pained to say that I seen him play one of the damnest funky jams I ever heard him play... I loved how he turned the tempo of Bustin Loose in half and spun it out into something so tight, it made me resent him, for keeping that stuff under wraps and shoving an album onto us of which he did not play a single track during the three gigs I've seen this weekend.

But daaaaamn, that jam.

Beverley was great i even managed to pinch her bottle of water when the stage was getting really busy.It was a health and safety issue more than anything else wink

It was the most amazing nite, prince worn me out
beverly knight was great.
but what about Shelby? what a star!! she was the best performer on that stage that nite and she really connected with the crowd. i would definately go and see her if she was performing on her own. what a lady!

No, Mother's Finest Baby Love. Vocals by Joyce Kennedy. She is famous for refusing a Prince song he reputedly wrote for her. She is one of those powerhouse singers. Amazing. A classic. One of my faves.

Yet, I somehow managed to forget to rip the greatest hits album I got from them... am currently ripping it again.

Burning for your touch
Burning for your touch
Burning for your touch
Oh, baby love

Then that part, 2:49 into the song, Joyce belts out that Well, well, well. Well, well, well, well, well, well. Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby. Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby.

Daaaamn. Shelby and the band RIPPED that song apart. MORE! MORE!

Always is fun. I liked that they expanded the cover-section with Baby love, though. Is waaaaay better than Play That Corny Music White Boy.

I also don't understadn why people hate Down by the Riverside so much. I love it; it highlights tha amazing horn section he's got now. Waaaay better than Wonderful World, which is kind of nice, but a bit too much Nothing Compares 2 U to my liking.

If I had my way I would have that band in the Indigo, playing Hot Five songs like Heebies Jeebies or Gut Bucket Blues.

Greatest part is that the security is WHACK! People could walk in carrying multiple devices and never got patted down ONCE!

I cannot wait for registrations; esp that closing jam, where he played Chuck Brown's Bustin' Lose (another favourite of mine) and just cut the tmepo of his guitar groove in half and then started jamming with the band. One of the most amazing jams I ever saw him do, almost as kewl as seeing Prince get jealous when Mike Scott and Lenny Kravitz had this guitar groove going at Utrecht in 98.
