Heard a rumour this is Princes last tour...could be? Although I imagine it highly unlikely could this be the last time Prince tours as somebody on teh radio was saying when he first announced the tour and again last week (apparently from sources "close to Prince")
Check it out - Prince went out of his was to make the tickets affordable so that,in his own words, everybody would get a chance to see him Playing the hits for the last Ever time....why say that? 21 shows just in London.and its called the Earth TOUR???....perhaps 21 shows in 31 countries...3121 and then stop An entirely different show everynight to get everything done Prince Auction on ticketmaster....what the hell is that, is he getting rid of his stuff? To me he just seemed bored on Friday...perhaps he really is thinking about hanging up his heels after doing one last mammoth Tour of....Earth

Isnt this what Prince already said when he first announced the tour. That after the 21 nights, he was taking a break from music to study the Bible.

How dare you be so insulting just because the man has a spirtual side. Im not the biggest fan of Jehovas Witnesses (although I am a Christian) but there is nothing wrong with Bible study. Prince's talent which we all love is GOD GIVEN.

To get back to the point of this thread, Prince doing his last tour, it cannot be.
Prince will certainly do a break (like the one he did between Musicology tour and the release of 3121) and will surely continue to study the bible, as he said in the last press conf. he gave. He never said it will be his last tour ever, nor did he say that he was playing for the last time his greatest hits. In fact, all these rumors are coming from AEG prod' who are teasing us to have all 21 nights in London sold-out. As a reminder, the same rumors contributed to the huge success of the Musicology Tour in the States.

When he gave the press conference in the UK back in May (or was it April?) announcing the shows he also said it will be the last time for a while [NOT the last ever] as afterwards he will be taking time off to TRAVEL and STUDY.
obviously a journalist then asked "study what?" and Prince replied simply "the bible" which was received with some sniggering amongst the audience.

Prince's last tour? Never. He's been putting that out there in one way shape or form for years, it's the most transperent ploy in the world to sell tix to those unitiated. Speaking of uninitiated the whole jehovah thing is incredibly annoying because he relates everything he speaks about nowadays to his religion. It's never been more prevelant in his words & work then it is now & I for one am bored.
He's definately been brainwashed. I used to think he was too intelligent but it's obvious he can't see through the !@#!@. Whatever gets you through the night just don't cram it down my throat like you know better. [Edited 8/9/07 16:10pm]

I highly doubt it.
He's said before he never wants to retire and he's also said he'll never play his hits again. If he loves the song Purple Rain as much as he says, then we'll still be hearing it years from now when P is 89

I doubt it will be. He's said on stage at the O2 that he feels blessed that playing concerts is his "life" and that he loves it. I think this is very much like when after recording ATWIAD he said he was going to "look for the ladder" and took a year off touring before "Parade" came out. As for not playing the hits again I very much doubt he'll be leaving them behind. Didn't he say at the time of the name change that he would never play his "old" songs again, and he soon changed that. I think much of what has been said is just marketing spin.

He will continue touring like James Brown till his last breath and hopefully that's not for a very long time! It's in his blood to play music to crowds.

Funny... as I recall, the previous tour (Musicology in 2004) was supposed to be the last time he'd play the hits, at least for a while. But, of course, Prince is notorious for changing his mind about stuff like this. Even if he does retire the hits after this tour, I doubt it'll be his last tour. My sense is that touring has been very lucrative for him during the past few years, and he has to pay for his expensive lifestyle somehow. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Celeste7 said: Without God, there are no Ten Commandments!!! Errrrr, ok! So are you saying that someone who doesn't believe in the god of the bible can't still live by those basic rules? They're a pretty good basic set of life rules regardless of what someone believes in.
My point was that if everyone lived by them, the world would be a better place. No murder, no theft, no jealousy etc. You really can't argue with them as a basic guideline. RIP
