Candy officially not performing in London

Not everyone may know this, but Candy Dulfer was booked to perform with Prince for his shows in London.
There's a message about it on her site, http://www.candydulfer.nl/candy/. Go to the News section.
Apparently Prince changed his mind at the last minute.

pretty bogus on Prince's part - she is a true talent and Prince needs to formally apologize to her - I suggest he do it publically on 3121
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

I love Candy, but the thing is that Prince has already got great horns players for this tour - Maceo and Mike Philly on sax, so I guess Candy was just not needed. To be honest I think Mike Philly is unsurpassed, his solo on Saturday was plain amazing.

Wasn't it Prince who said "When i want sax i call Candy"? If so he shouldn't have called Maceo and Mike!!!

Plus she is waaaaay pretier!

Just read the news section on Candy's website - wow she does sound mighty pissed about the whole situation! It's not often that an associated artist would have the balls to criticise Prince in public. Good for her!

Prince played Holland in 88, booked Candy as an opener who at that time was young and basically only known as her father's daughter (her father is quite well known as a sax player, Hans Dulfer). So just as Candy was about to go on, not having met Prince yet, Prince changed his mind about having an opening act.
Candy stormed into Prince's dressing room and chewed his ass out, then left.
The story is that a young woman chewing his ass out like that was intersting enough for him to invite her over to Paisley Park for some studio sessions.
What Candy has said about those studio sessions is that she never actually got to meet Prince there, but was paged at odd hours to come put some sax on tape.
Over time their relationship obviously improved to the point where she got a lot of stage time with him.

Thanks for that - I can see why she caught Prince's interest. I guess he gets fed up with all the ass kissing and the 'yes men' he's surrounded with. Go Candy!!

Now I don't know this for sure, altho this will definitely come out in the next few days, but Candy was never the type of girl you mess around with like this. Not when she was young, and certainly not now that she has a career of her own, including the financial and legal backing that will help her not being screwed out of a job she cleared her schedule for.

Just read the report on her site and she doesn't sound very pissed at all to me. She says that for her it's not so bad anyway as she has a hectic schedule. Seems fine to my eyes.
RIP sad

Sounds pissed to me. And so would i. But not as pissed as i would be if i had paid to go to an aftershow expecting prince to play, and then not getting a show. Just getting his new cd being played over the PA for 7 hours neutral

She was great on the opening night at the opening night aftershow...

but with Maceo, Greg, Lee and most of the support acts having brass sections, I can kinda see where Prince is coming from on this

Celebrate the times she does play, not the times she can't smile

Yes but he could have told her before she flew to London. Honestly, that's very rude from Prince.

Well the least he could do is pay for the flights and hotel (probably would have anyway right?)
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

It's only a 50 minute flight from Amsterdam, and at least this way Prince would have told her the news face to face, and I'm sure he would have been apologetic about it and not at all rude. Sure it's frustrating for her, she was mentally getting ready to play and that's what she's said but she's a pro, and has known Prince for years.and I'm sure she understands his decision even though it as very late.
