Come on!

I know P likes to act the big man, but creating his own edit of snippets of B and C list celebs and musicians talking like they thought he was god!?!

It was so self indulgent!

Am I alone in thinking he should drop this? Particularly to an English market which don't like show offs!

I've made loads of comments about how great the main show was. How is that complaining?

Sorry, maybe it the way I type. As I stated, I loved the show, but I also pointed out what I'd like to see change, drop, add etc. Not complaining, simply a natural pesemist pointing out what he'd like to see different!

Now that aftershow.....thats a different matter! lol

Man, I agree with you. I can't stand all that cringing stuff. It's like he's saying "just in case you did not realise, all these celebs out there love me so I must be something". Instead just get on with proving to 20,000 normal people what a genius you are. We don't need their opinions to make up our opinions.

It probably works better in the US than here.

What i am trying to understand is WHY Prince has to prove anyting to us at this stage? He still has to prove himself to the converted or are you new to his music? sometimes it makes me wonder as some of the stuff on this forum is so negative and blah. Whilst I know we should highlight and indeed criticize as we want always the best from him; he should not need to prove himself to this group. Surely! eek We love him for his 'faults' and 'foibles' be it media generated or not as he is a rare talent - so if this artist want to indulge on a 21 nights show.. well.. did he deliver??

It seems that the media [certainly the BBC] were not allowed in and I came to the forum to read about the fans feedback. At the end of the day he is from a different culture - yes Americans are different.. I loved the fact that all these people felt love for him. I think it is important to him. Give him a break and enjoy folks!!

I know he or is portrayed to be self indulgent etc etc.. we could go on and criticize just like the some of media who were not allowed in to his shows, let's get real, the media make and break 'celebrities' these days, he is more than that.. he is talented and from the looks of it, maybe not that nuts biggrin .. did you ever see the Larry King interview? Anyway.. let's just enjoy the man!!! razz So how was the show?! I went on Weds.. it was awesome!

Was this from the British rock n roll hall of fame induction? He did the same thing at the beginnig of the Musicology Tour, They showed the American rock n roll induction. I think its a bit naff , but it gets the crowd going I suppose, although I would rather get an exclusive promo video like the old days!

Couldn't agree more squirrelmeat. He should stick to 'let me show you baby I'm a talented boy' rather than tell us. As others have said, it's probably a cultural misunderstanding because we Brits generally prefer modesty/self-effacement to self-aggrandisement.

I agree that it would be best if it were dropped - but at the same time it doesn't bother me that much.

I'm sure he did something similar a few years back when i saw him. He's just a bloke who can blow his own trumpet and so does! Has the word 'modesty' ever appeared in any of his lyrics!??!!

Ever heard the introduction to a Bob Dylan show? That's too much too.
""The poet laureate of rock 'n' roll. The voice of the promise of the '60s counterculture. The guy who forced folk into bed with rock, who donned makeup in the '70s and disappeared into a haze of substance abuse, who emerged to "find Jesus,' who was written off as a has-been by the end of the '80s, and who suddenly shifted gears and released some of the strongest music of his career beginning in the mid-'90s. Ladies and gentlemen, Columbia's recording artist... Bob Dylan".

It does seem self-indulgent, but it'll look forward to seeing it. And what's the problem with SquirrelMeat sharing his opinion and pointing out bad things about the shows anyway, there's obviously going to be something slightly wrong with the shows smile all based on opinions anyway.

He's cementing his brand as a "legend". His recent studio material is no longer the money spinner. Its all about Grammys duet with Beyonce, Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction, Superbowl show, 21 nights in London. AKA the live performer legend.

Well... P like his ego to fed and nourished with praise! I know what u mean... What I found more annoying was the VT with merchandise and prices etc... I felt that gave it a cheap feel...
I have to say i only saw the VT intro when I was in upper tiers on Sat... They didn't have the Intro VT on Fri... and on Weds I heard it but didn't realise it was associated with a video projection...

Strange to have a live video playback at a live concert, but still, anything was better than the homage video!!!!
