Great write-up.
stereoboy said: The keyboard medley was sublime. You could hear gasps as he started each new song - Condition Of The Heart was beyond beautiful, Diamonds And Pearls almost brought the roof down and when he got his groove on with I Wanna Be Your Lover and then brought the rest of the band in to keep it going you knew that this was something special.
As wonderful as those fleeting moments were, I'd still like to hear more than 20% of the tracks. Hell, he even cut the one solitary chorus of D & P in half!! Condition was a strange moment. I reckon 99% of the place had never heard it before. You could hear the crowd chatting! stereoboy said: Lets Go Crazy was awesome - they seem to have sorted out the lighting far better now and Purple Rain, whilst quite restrained in length, was prefaced by a shout of "I love singing this song" by P and then the best vocal rendition of it I've heard for years.
I think he actually said 'I love this song', very different meaning, followed by a wagging of the finger and a point to the heavens, his way of saying 'I can say that modestly as God wrote it, not me.' Or something. He still keeps the royalties though. stereoboy said: Tell you one thing though - those lucky mofos going to the after show tonight are in for a treat. By the look of him earlier - he wants to play all night tonight!
Sounds like your guess was spot on. Let's hope it continues. | |
