From reading a lot of the posts on here and Housequake you may get the impression that the Aftershows are full of drunken fights, bad music and generally a waste of time and money.

Well I was there on the 4th and had a good time - it was a chance to recover from an amazing concert, have a few drinks, listen to some good tunes (including some well mixed Prince tunes that you never get to hear in clubs) over a very good sound system and have a good old funky dance. Then we had the pleasure of listening to some quality live music from Nicki Costa with 5 mins of Prince strumming his guitar on stage. To add to all of this we had the bizarre experience of finishing off the night running from fire exit to fire exit chasing Prince who had a sly cheeky smile on his face.

I didn't see one fight and did not sense an aggressive atmosphere - most people were just having a good time. If you want a guaranteed performance by Prince in a venue full of quiet, obedient "true" fans then I guess it will not be for you. But if you just want to carry an amazing night on and have funky party, with the chance of seeing Prince up close, then go for it!
