The Truth....

SORRY FOR THE LENGTH OF THIS POST GUYS BUT I HAD TO GET IT OUT THERE!

It was an excellent experience from start to finish..My wife's first concert so i scraped together the money and went V.I.P...Very civilised..I was sat in a very impressive arena to watch THE artist i had grown up with...surrounded by people just as excited as i was(how much fun i had high fiving the lady behind me every time a hit was performed, which was EVERY song).

PRINCE what can i say simply awesome and in great form.."but he didnt play for the true fans" "catered to the VIP'S" what a load of rubbish! All of the "true fans" worship prince for exactly the material he played that night..yes we all followed the NPGMC avidly and we all rAved about the music that came out of it but i dont think one of us STARTED liking prince because of that era's music..

This concert did what it said on the box...A GREATEST HITS TOUR....WHAT AN EXPERIENCE controversy, purple rain, shhh, sexy dancer and sometimes it snows in april all in one night!?! It doesn't get much better than that... cool

The aftershow...£25 to see a full set by an on-fire Nikka Costa...Money well spent i'd say and what an excellent DJ!!(RASHIDA?) biggrin

Yes there were drunks..go anywhere they sell alcohol and there will be..no prince didn't play another full set at the aftershow...he IS nearly fifty , i was tired singining and dancing along how must he have felt?

And how satisfying to see my wife bopping til she dropped a smile on her face that was nearly as big as mine and when we are in the car now she reaches for the GOLD CD not her usual dance stuff.....

My only complaint?...i dont think i can make it to another show.....

To all you lucky so and so's still to attend(how jealous am i...?)

dont listen to the gripes and the moans you WILL have a great time just enjoy it we don't know when we'll see him again-make the most of it!! cool
how i am gonna fill this empty room

which DJ are you referring to?
The one who was spinning tunes at the start, or the one who came on stage at the end when everyone was leaving?
Were they the same person?

Whoever was DJing at the start couldn't mix AT ALL...he was awful, beats were clashing all over the place. It was hilarious

it was amazing , the show was totally on form and slightly better than the friday night which had a few hiccups, namely the lights going on after like an hour and 15mins, the woman who got stretchered out and the guy who tried to attack prince in the box.

the aftershow on saturday was AMAZING, prince was standing right next to me on the balcony, without any security... lucky for him i wasnt wacko, but he heard me say "OH my God there's prince" to my friend. We then saw him again in the vip bar, the staff were totally on edge.

Glad to hear from someone else who had a great time on Saturday...there have been quite a few moans, but when you consider £30 for a two and a half hour show and free copy of Planet Earth...then £25 for a great Nikki Costa set, a superb DJ set with lots of classic Prince cuts, and an up-close-and-personal appearance from Prince. All told, this is the bargain of the century!

I know that there was some guy who had been recording the show every night (overheard the bouncers on the left hand side of stage discussing it). That was who the bouncer told to stop when prince first come on, the bouncer next to prince on the stage indicated to the guy to stop by putting his fingers cross his throat. then the bouncers had a discussion after prince went off and i assumed they kicked the guy out because about 6 of them went into the crowd to get him....myself and partner were sitting on the floor by the ramp at the time on the left hand side of the stage .. once the stuff started to get packed away we left .. shame he didnt give a general warning about behaviour like what happened in bagleys aftershow, ppl were warned there that until everything calmed down prince would not come out, but after it had quientened down he came out and gave excellent show ...

I was by the fireexit doors leading backstage (left of the stage) and I saw him about 4/5 times. Eacch time I remained cool and he simply stood there chilling. It was only when the rest of the crowd noticed that things became manic and he bailed. I got a wave/gesture from him and my wife got a handshake. I would say at least 3 of those 4/5 times he was escorted upstairs.

if some people gave the man some space to breathe and be himself without being mobbed as soon as he opens a door etc then he himself will feel more relaxed and we may even get him up on stage for more than a cpl of mins but in my opinion the more the taking of pics, filming and not giving the man some space goes on the less he will play and personally i dont blame him one bit, such a shame tho that some people just cant keep it together coz i really think the aftershow would have been amazing sat night as he was in a very good mood and i really think he wanted to play and just chill out...such a shame

exactly, thats how i felt, i dont think he minded giving hand shakes and quick chats if you met him in the corridors since he knew there were about 15-20 in the vip bar which he had to walk through, but i didnt hassle him or anything. If prince wants to talk to you he will. I cant stand these idiots that throw themselves at celebs.

It was really funny because he was standing right at the balcony area but noone actually clocked him , they were either too drunk/looking at the stage/or too obsessed with themselves to notice.

Hmm.. apart from people going nuts and trying to mob Prince (which I assume is the reaction any star like him would get), what total idiots did you spot on saturday night? I was there, I saw a few merry drunks, generally everyone was having a good time. No?

So who were the 200 strong crazed mob at the NPGMC soundcheck in 2002 if they weren't REAL fans?

I didnt catch the guy taking the pictures because I was too busy watching prince on stage, but seriously if he had professional equiptment, how in the hell did he get through the doors?

i really havent got a clue how he mangaed to get through the door mind u when my b/f and i went to get in there was no que just walked straight in and the only thing they checked was your ticket coz they gotta scan the barcode on it..security seemed really slack when getting into the indigo ...im surprised they didnt check bags even at the main arena they had seperate lines for people with bags or no bags and was sure they would check them .as i had a small bag myself i went through the no bag line and they did not search my bag ..think they need to tighten things up a bit
also in the main arena there were signs being displayed that prince wishes you not to take photos and the show was for the memories i was sat in blk 111 row c and the amount of pics being taken was crazy and all the time the security around the stage did nothing just looked on...even with the signs being displayed around the screens
