Now, for the MOST Important Question of All I'll be in London for the last few shows and it's my first trip to the UK. VERY excited. However, I'm curious to know what is the current weather like and what will it be a month from now. Also, will I need a coat or is a light jacket enough? Thanks in advance for any information. [Edited 8/20/07 19:24pm] If we knew what it would be like in a month... I promise we would tell! We dont' know ourselves here lol Currently getting grey a little and slightly cooler...Occasional drizzle of rain. There definitely is Purple Rain at the O2 until the 21/09! By mid sept I think perhaps you ought to have a coat just incase! if it's waterproof it might also be a bonus! HE put my name across my thigh...

I'm still trying to figure out Celsius. I have to be a damn mathematical wizard just to figure out how hot/cold it is outside. Multiply by 9, divide by 5, add 32. . . LOL!!! Me trying to figure out the temperature outside I'm sure will be quite comical.

No, it's not typically raining in September - most of the time it's bright and sunny but not quite as warm as the summer months, but this year everything has just turned on it's head.

[Edited 8/20/07 19:24pm] England is having a terrible summer. Worst weather on record. Its living up to its stereotypical image at the moment. Rain, Rain, Rain. .

You can check this site www.metcheck.com which is quite good at advance weather. It's got quite cold here at the moment, but the media have said that we are in for an 'indian summer' so by September it might be warmer..in other words, I have no clue! Thanks for all the good info. I have another question. We'll be there a week and although I plan to do the touristy stuff, what are some cool night spots and restaurants we should go to???

What kinda food is it? Also, what is the best Caribbean restaurant in the city? Love me anything jerked, except for my men.

Nandos is Portuguese style flame grilled chicken that simply has to be experienced. There's one in the O2 but the best is the Soho one: http://www.nandos.co.uk/
I'm not sure about Caribbean places. Most of the ones I've seen are smallish and in rather dodgy areas in the outer suburbs. There seems to be one here on Wardour Street though, and that's very central: http://www.allinlondon.co...t-7240.php [Edited 8/21/07 6:53am]

Thanks, again. | |

There's a nice place called Mr. Jerk/Jerk City in the west end, close to Soho and Oxford Street, so it's easy to find
http://www.mrjerk.co.uk/ Proud Galleries is a cool place in Camden - http://www.atproud.net/venue.php Also Gilgamesh, and you can cross the road and see where the Prince store used to be! http://www.gilgameshbar.com/ The jazz cafe is good, but sometimes pricey and what with already spending money on Prince tickets..www.jazzcafe.co.uk There are some great cheap places in London, but you need to know where you are going otherwise you will end up disappointed. Where are you staying? I'm staying near Earl's Court. Mr. Jerk is right up my alley and Gilgamesh looks off the hook. I like night spots/restaurants with great food and drinks, but also unique/exotic atmosphere and ambiance and that place looks like it's got all of that. Thanks! [Edited 8/21/07 8:04am]

Right you must go and have coffee/drinks/lunch/breakfast or whatever at the Toubador http://www.troubadour.co.uk/ Kings Road is very close as well - you can get a 328 bus that will drop you up there. Nice Italian called Buena Sera at The Jam and generally nice to just walk around there. There's a really cheap and cheerful place called the stockpot which is just by the cinema and if you just want to spend £10 or so per person. I have, yet, another question: What are the smoking rules in London?

As of 2 months ago there's a complete ban in indoor places in public and places of work. It seems to be accepted in the street though.

Glad to hear that cuz I have asthma and cigarette smoke in enclosed places often brings on an attack. Do they actually enforce the rule? Here in Dallas, Texas there's a smoking ban in place but most restaurants and bars don't really enforce it.

It hasn't been that long since it came about so I've not seen anyone being pulled up. I imagine that the O2 and restaurants are very strict. There are signs in the O2 toilets saying that they'll set off the smoke alarms and if anyone has a sneaky fag in there, they'll be chucked out.
Watch out for restaurants with tables outdoors. When they open up the front of the place and the people sitting outside light up, the smoke still wafts over inside the building
