Ok have given the whole drunken yob (DY) thing some thought and this is what I believe caused or a least contributed to the problem!

The ticket prices are to cheap yep believe it or not charging a mere £31.21 is great for everyone as just about anybody could afford to buy a ticket including the DY, if they had charged £80 it would have been a different story as the DY would most certainly not have gone!

The same could be said if it was Madonna that was performing or any other big names for that matter, cheap accessible tickets unfortunately allows this type of element to get in and treat it as a good excuse to go out and get pissed. They then would no doubt brag the next day that they have seen so and so in concert without actually caring!

Combine this with the actual venue than you have a recipe for disaster, 02 has bars and night clubs inside as well as the main arena so there is every opportunity to get in early and get tanked up before going to watch the show, the fact that alcohol is served during the show also does not help!

As for the aftershow the DY may well have got the tickets at the box office that very night and treated it as a good opportunity to extend there drinking hours, where they may have been turned away from some of the other clubs within the 02 they had secured a late night drink by buying there golden ticket, the very fact that it was a Prince after show probably was not that important to them but may have added some kudos or bragging rights to there mates in the office the next day!

The other point I would like to mention is age, the age of the average Prince fan has matured along with the man himself and as we get older like it or not alcohol tends to play a more of a significant part in our lives, I seem to remember when I was in my early twenties it probably would not have occurred to go and buy a beer at the show, now in my 30's it was almost like an instant reaction!

So there you have it!

I was at the opening night aftershow, and I'm so glad I stayed back a reasonable distance!

I gave up trying to get a drink after standing for ten minutes..so alcohol was proving a rather popular pastime. There were a couple of people who bumped onto me on their way to some fresh air, which they looked in need of!

To paraphrase what's gone before: A long wait + a bar + those who couldn't care if Prince is in focus or not = an element of uncontrolled drunkards.

As regards cameras: It was rather out of order. Prince actually came out from the left hand side of the stage with a small torch initially, and he gave it to security. So he was obviously concerned.

I could see him quite clearly at the edge of the stage, and I thought it was quite cute to see him scratch his forehead when he thought no-one could see him. I'm weird like that. smile

What to expect with an organization that sells the worst seats to the fans and most interested and the best seats to the hooligans and the rich?
