what happened with prince's bass guitar saturday nite? does any1 kno what the story was when prince started playin bass at the main show saturday nite? was it a technical problem ? i kno that later on, at the start of the acoustic encore he was well pissed off with the sound and much running around by the guitar techs followed.
but earlier in the show he had the bass strapped on, and said "london, this is a bass guitar", (he could obviously tell that a few of the 'saturday night crowd' wouldn't know one if he whacked them around the head with it... if only !). then he got us to chant something like, "prince, play that funky bass", and he played 4 no more than 20 seconds then took it off and handed it invitingly to someone near the front side of the crowd, (nowhere near the guitar tech's pit where the other guitars were), and that was the end of the bass playin. for one terrible second i could imagine larry graham's grinning moustachiod face popping up and jumping onstage ! (don't get me wrong, 4 a midweek/aftershow it would have been great, but had it happened on saturday night there would have been many "who the f... ?" and "what the f... ?"'s 2 b heard !)

He normally only plays bass on 'Black Sweat' for the beginning of the song - and he played for considerably more than 20 secs on Saturday night. Maybe 1-2 mins+. Didn't see any issues there.

Definitely seemed closer to 20 seconds to me too, and I thought he gave the bass away to a fan down there! But it seemed the same as Friday, just a lot of slapping, not much meat and sound was poor I thought. The main bass sounds even worse though. Each musicology bass solo over 3 nights has sounded woolly and lacked defintion, and the actual playing is nowhere near as articulate or funky as Rhonda.
