Well I'd be happy to see Larry Graham live in concert! In fact (and don't kill me) in some ways I'd rather see him than Prince - if I thought LG would play more than just the same tired ol' hits from Sly & The Family Stone. If I thought he'd play more GCS tracks... I'm there!

LG is a funk GOD.

Yeah but Ian they can't see past the fast that Larry may have turned Prince in a JW, like its any of their business. LG is an absolute bass God and anyone should feel privelaged to see such a legend live.

If Prince is happy with his life then cool, people are so small minded and selfish with him, like he owes them something.

Agreed.

I love those GCS tracks. Larry is indeed a funk God.

I've never found his contributions intrusive. As a bass-player I fail to see how he is more or less annoying than Rhonda Smith or Sonny T (he can certainly sing better than Sonny T). In my personal opinion (and I'm not addressing you personally Gav), certain peoples alleged 'dislike' of Larry has more to with their views on his religion and his suppossed influence on Prince than his musical input.

Whenever I've seen Prince and Larry together Larry's set has been a seperate contribution, unless he is the 'band' bass-player for the night. As far as I'm aware the most Larry was featured on the ONA shows was the odd guest appearance during one song. His main contributions were in the aftershows when Prince wanted to get really funky and tear it up.

Regardless it's Prince's decision. I'm sure that Larry is asked to be there.

With all respect Gav, this is not a personal remark towards yourself. The view you share is held by many.

i agree wholeheartedly Mr7, the reason I say he's such a pain is the constant preaching.

I'm a fan of Prince (and the old LG / Sly Stone days) because of the MUSIC. The reason I don't want LG there is

a) becuase I want to go to the gig for the music and the atmosphere, not to be TOLD how to run my life

b) I've seen Prince many times with and without LG and there's definatley a difference in Prince's behaviour when Larry is there. its subtle but I'm sure there's a marked difference.

Larry didn't "turn Prince" into anything. Prince is his own man, he's 44 years old. Give the guy credit for making his own decisions in life.

Agreed.

It's time to do away with the hysteria of sci-fi, fantasy Larry Graham conversions and face the facts.

a) Larry never tells you how to ruin your life and since when do you have to take any notice.

b) Prince does act different when Larry is around, he becomes funky (or funkier) as shit.

Opinions being disallowed again I see ?

Prince, via NPGMC, via his sidekicks at the celebration, or in person at concerts has given across his views on how people should run their lives. He has often portrayed these in a highly pressured manner. Take for example the heavy preaching of the bastardisation of the word "individual" to "in divide you all" at last years celebration and on the website.

I agree with your point that we have a choice as to whether we should listen but you have to concede that some people find this offensive and agree that there's a time and place for religous preaching and that Hammermith Apollo this week is not one of them.

Just my opinion

I'm with you Freaky.I get very uncomfortable when he screams "Do u believe in God?!" and 90% of the place screams back. Of course if 90% did believe thats different.
