Prince the Friday aftershow real story.

These are the facts.

Around 1.30am Prince was backstage at the Indigo. I seen him he was dressed in all black. He had the black bandana on his head. You could see him on the left hand side of the stage in the gap.

His guitar was on the stage and his pedals. They got taken off around 1.40am. Along with a bass guitar. I don't believe no one else noticed this. The guitar on the stage was Prince's first ever guitar that he uses all the time think Controvesy Video etc.

Tamara and the other black girl (the one that sang crazy) where sitting upstairs.

I left 1.50am and asked a bouncer if he had left and he said yes.

Guess
I think the concert on before Prince, did not get all thier stuff off the stage. Prince had a strop and they ended up playing instead.

I am going to contact Ticketmaster and demand a refund. If they refuse I am going to go to Watchdog.

A Prince aftershow should include something to do with Prince. Even if they done Prince covers would have been alright.

Why the fuck could he not just jam with Dr John and his band if clearing there gear was a problem!

I mean they are all professional musicians aren't they!

Fussy little fucker!

Oh and if anybody can post any info on whether they have managed to get there money back out of TICKET DISASTER for the NO show I would be grateful as I suspect will several thousand other fans!

I bought my tickets from Ticketmaster not Prince.

Ticketmaster.co.uk does not say that Prince will not perform. This is false advertising

If it said that on Ticketmaster there would not be a problem.

A Prince aftershow should not be Dr John.

No. If the opposite were true i.e. they said he was performing, THEN it would be false advertising. It is a Prince Aftershow, there is a show after Prince. That does not mean it is a Prince show.

If you bought tickets off ticketmaster to watch Man Utd Vrs Liverpool. Man Utd and Liverpool can't be assed to play oh well you get Stockport Vrs Chester instead how would you feel.

Thats what it is like.

It doesn't matter what Princes web site says as you didn't buy the ticket from them.

I'm going to assume you bought through ticketmaster. I would be stunned if you couldn't force a refund.

Write to ticket master (politely) and tell them the sale of your ticket is in breach of Trade Description English law and you are requesting a full refund within 28 days.

Give your reason as the fact that you bought the ticket in good faith from their website, which advertised in its Concert section, a Prince aftershow.

Explain that on the night, Prince was not in attendance for this concert and instead he was replaced with an Act called "Dr John".

Ask them to confirm they will refund within 7 days or you will be forced to file a small claims action against them. If they don't do as you say, file an online action against them here

http://www.hmcourts-servi.../index.htm

If you have to file the action it will cost £30, so make sure you add the 30 to whatever sum you are claiming from them. Also explain in the claim that you tried to settle this issue directly with Ticketmaster and that they showed no interest.

The law is totally on your side, don't be afraid to use it.

A Prince aftershow with no influance of Prince. Apart from very bad DJ mixing.

Tamara done nothing much the whole gig. She is a good singer. Why does she not get a chance at aftershows. That would then be a bit more like a Prince Aftershow. Even a band doing covers would be better.

I have already put in the complaint to Ticketmaster.

I will take things further if they do not refund.

The show is for sale in the "concert" section. Try telling a judge that a concert might not have to include a performance by the advertised act. He'd laugh you out of his court.

Sorry, but that's absolute rubbish. That would be the main event. That would be the equivalent of Prince not playing the main concert at the o2 and instead this Dr. John played..

Anyway, I do sympathise with you as I'd be disappointed if he didn't show but you're kidding yourself if you think that Ticketmaster have done something akin to conning you.

Even if that was true, which it isn't, is anyone really going to take Ticketmaster to court for just over £25? It is under the name 'Prince - the Official Aftershow'. That is far from a guarantee that Prince will play. There's a real difference between what some people here subjectively are expecting and what the Aftershow is from an objective viewpoint.

Prince Aftershow = Dr John.

Yes that makes sense. I fully expect Ticketmaster to give me a refund and change how they are selling the tickets.

It's not true that a judge would laugh you out of court as it's not been advertised as a Prince concert. Without sounding like too much of an arsehole, I'm a lawyer so I know what I'm on about. If you're gonna get a refund through Ticketmaster it will be down to your skills at being an awkward customer and NOT because they are legally obliged to give you your money back.

rwb78, do you work for Prince or something? Lets face it, the majority of us expect Prince to be there for £25, ie £50000 + drink spend. The world has gone mad, I'm a lawyer and it's worded like this. So what, we're getting ripped off. Why else would we have bought tickets. If I wanted to see Dr John, I'd pay £7 and see him at the Jazz Cafe. What about all this do you not get? Unbeleivable

Well, you really ought to revise your facts on Consumer law (this site seems to be full of"lawyers", strange there are no solicitors).

Ticketmaster and/or AEG are legally obliged to give a refund if the provided service is clearly not as advertised.

I'm not going to argue with anyone further, I've already said all I've got to say on this. You don't have to listen to me. As I've said I DO sympathise with people who went and he didn't show up and I actually sincerely hope you do have some success through moaning at Ticketmaster. I've got tickets for the final night Aftershow as I expect him to show up and will be gutted if he doesn't. By the way SquirrelMeat, a solcitor is a lawyer.

You don't get sarcasm as well as consumer law?! wink

No worries, I'm going to the last night too, so I'll buy you a beer and we can have a laugh about it! biggrin

I had assumed you were saying that there was a distinction between the two. I never pick up sarcasm on the internet - only in physical presence. Anyway, we'll agree to differ on consumer law. If he doesn't show up on the last night (surely he will though) then you can argue with the management and I'll just leave. cool

I've also got the last night aftershow, so if he doesn't show I can annoy you all by saying that nothing was guaranteed. Either that or we can all be pissed off together because if there's one night he must do a great aftershow, it's the last one. I will be disappointed if we don't get a great farewell.
RIP sad

Not trying to change the subject but who is "Tamara" and "the other black girl???" If by "the other black girl" you mean Shelby who usually sings Crazy could you refer to her as the backup singer? It just sounds kinda tacky to refer to her as "the other black girl." She's been singing with Prince for 8 months now and has been mentioned ALL OVER this site, Housequake, AND 3121.com by name so how hard would it be to find out her name and refer to her by it rather than referring to her in racial terms??? It's actually quite insulting and offensive.

Then why not just say the singer that sings Crazy, backup singer, or something else because "the other black girl" IS offensive, especially if you're black. You may not agree, and frankly I don't care, but it is and it didn't need to be is all I'm saying.
