Prince Live at the O2 Arena 1st August 2007 Review

Written by someone who was there....ME!..lol.

Please note - Every London Prince concert will be different every night. so this will not spoil anything for you if you are going to see him soon. But to be sure, just don't read it..lol.



REVIEW:

"Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats as the show is about to start. Thank you"

A voice said coving the whole arena as dry ice filled the symbol shaped stage. 5 minutes later, the lights go dim to almost pure darkness. "London.....did you miss me?" Prince said as the lights come on to reveal him being elevated up from the stage to a thunderous sound of claps and cheers. Guitar starts playing, it's "Purple Rain" lasting 9 minutes long as he walks every inch of the stage with his purple symbol shaped guitar. Then come on the Twin dancers in time for "If I Was You Girlfriend" "Controversy" "Musicology" "Black Sweet" "Shhh". Then goes in to a jam called "Funky London" at witch point a few of the Gold Seated fans are ushered on to the stage to dance and even Prince lets one of them sing over the mike, she sounded terrible and Prince pulled a face that said it all...lol.

"Take Me With U", "Kiss", "I'm The One U Wanna See" "I Feel 4 U" "Nothing Compares 2 U" I Wanna Be Your Lover" to name but just a few were also sung.

Then came the famous Prince encore that he love doing to tease the fans. He says "Good night London, thank you" as he elevates back down into the stage has the light go dim. Cheers, claps and cries of "More..." fill the arena for about 5 minutes before he finally appears on stage for what everyone thinks will be the last time tonight. "Planet Earth" he sings as will all think thats a nice song to end with. "Good night London, Save the earth. Thank you" he said as he disappears into the stage for the last time. All the lights come on. A sure sign he will not be coming back again. A good 2 hours of pure Prince and we all felt it was a great show.

Everyone gets up from there seats to leave the arena. We were almost out when we heard cheers from the remaining few that were still seated waiting for the ques to go down. Then we heard the start of "Some Times It Snows In April" I looked at my friend and said " What the....." We rush in to the nearest entrance to find on stage Prince on his own with just his guitar and all the lights still on and playing to a half empty arena. " I don't wanna go home" he said as the rest of the band come on in time for him to sing "Raspberry Beret" and a version of "Freak out". He jammed for another hour laughing and joking, pretending he was going to stage dive in to waiting fans on the floor.

It was almost like an After Concert mood he was in. Don't forget that only half the arena were there. The lights fully on, only the stage lights were flashing. Never seen anything like it in all the Prince concerts I've been to over the years.

3 and a half hours. What a show.

Really, I'm glad for all you Euro fans and I've often said I hope Prince gets over there to treat you guys!!

But sincere truth be told...



I miss Prince!! He's too far away!! Hurry up and send him back!

To show I'm not totally selfish...y'all can keep the Twins!

spot on with the review, but you missed little red corvette, raspberry beret and then he went in to sometimes it snows in april, haven't seen him in that mood in years, he was awesome.

awh man i hope he does a big jam at the end of every concert!

3 and a half hours? don't you mean 2 and a half?

plus they played some long as video at the start

Yes, Sorry about that. I wrote this review in the early hours soon as i got back from the oncert. I can comfirm it was 2 and a half hours (8.30 pm - 11.00pm) and not 3 and a half hours.

In my review at the time, I could not remember every single song he preformed and different fans will remember different songs. I do remember others now that include "Girls and Boys" "Seven" "U Got The Look" "Lets Go Crazy" "Somewhere Here On Earth" "Come Together". And i did mention "Raspberry Beret" and "Sometimes It Snows In April" dkay..lol.
