I thought the main show was great.

Positives:

Stage
View for a large percentage of the audience
Prince in great form
Guitar live
Planet Earth Live

Negatives:

Sound was hit and miss
Too much horns. It bordered on caberet at times
Still cutting most songs short
Many VIPS fucked over. Lower tier view is better in a lot of cases.
Teases crowd for hits, then picks lolita over When Doves Cry. Why Prince, Why.

lol
im only 16 and i LOVE Prince! im going to try and go!
im surprised there werent many ''youngsters'' there
even though my friends tease me for liking Prince i still know quite a few that do like him lol Hm

LOL! that made me laugh but the really funny thing is people made fun of me for liking prince back in 85 when I was 16! some things don't change..though good to see some young people with refined music taste.

yeah! my mums always loved him, i think i get it from her.
if young people today actually sat down and listened to some of his music old or new they would love it but because hes almost 50 years old they think its uncool.
Stupid really. lol

Even the slow jams deserve to be swayed to. Man if i was in a section where people sat down i'd wanna move.

That's what I'm saying. And if someone asked me to sit down I'd tell them to go F**K themselves!!!

Some places do not allow the audience to stand up, if that were the case I would abide by the rules, or not buy tickets at all.

I am giving the person who will be sitting behind me prior warning - I wont be sitting down, I'll be shaking my fat 36 year old ass, sweating buckets, and singing as much as possible. Nobody is gonna spoil my Prince experience. I can never understand why people sit through a concert, especially something as lively as Prince..

Also, if everyone did sit down I think it would actually put Prince off big time. He's certainly one who prefers his crowd standing up and dancing and getting animated which you can't do sitting down.

great show guys

prince gave a great show tonight guys - full of energy, humour and funk. even way up high in the clouds everyone was on their feet as he effortlessly blended new songs with old faves for an adoring 20,000 fams

a longer version of purple rain than we've been used to recently kicked everything off and then in no particular order:

lolita
ballad with the words to i'm the 1 u wanna c sung over it
satisfied
u got the look
gnarls' crazy
wonderful sax solo by maceo on what a wonderful world
take me with u
planet earth
if i was your girlfiend (so pleased to hear this)
controversy
feel 4 u (a highlight - went down very well)
kiss (also worked very well)
shh
musicology
black sweat
west from news (just kidding)

the guitar solo work was wonderful to see and hear and the stage looked great

london gave prince a lot of energy back and it looks like he's going to have a fun time here

any bad points? merchandise is a little yicky and i see he's trying to offload the excess copies of news that have been cluttering up paisley park. also, the twins' roller blading during the encore of planet earth just looked rather bizarre and detracted from the song

i'd never been to the dome before but it's a great venue and for those that are going i'd recommend taking the boat and avoiding the tube - the river views were a beautiful start to the evening

i just can't wait until friday...and as i don't have work the next day, the aftershow

aww thats it? Im still glad Mpls show was much longer I dont have to feel jealous
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I have one of those too - a Canon S2-IS. Would be great to bring for some lower and upper tier shooting, but I don't know if I dare.. A little to large to hide in my underpants..

i feel if u r at a concert, u r there 2 party. so if u'r blocking someone's view, there is a courteous way of asking that person 2 kindly move or sit down without having 2 say that "a fat ass" was blocking u'r vision of the stage. I am 6ft 4 and when i have stood up 2 dance, someone has asked me kindly 2 sit down so they can c. it's all about being polite.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Well then consider me rude! I can see if someone is standing on their chair or on someone's shoulders (which I am guilty of as well!!) but just standing up at a show???!! Get over it!

Hey, my first post here smile
i'm 16 and went to the 1st prince concert of the dates - and it was my first prince concert.

Went with my friend who's also 16 and had the best night of our lives.
I was nearly in tears when he came onstage. smile
SO happy he played Raspberry Beret as that's the song that first got me into Prince biggrin

We were sat in block 101, row Y - i think, really good view of the whole stage.
Everyone near us were stood up, n most were dancing, apart from the man stood next to me, he showed no emotion thorugh the whole thing, and just clapped a bit at the end of songs - dont understand how someone can be like that during a PRINCE concert Haha, ah well i guess people are just differnt.

Me and my friend both took pictures with digital cameras during the show despite the warnings you'd be kicked out, but no staff told us off, they can't kick hundreds of people out taking pictures i figured, but maybe it'll get stricter after the first gig, i dunno.

I feel sorry for the people who may have missed the last half hour or so i would've been really pissed off, that was the best bit of the concert for me in my opinion, most people ran down to the front for a better view biggrin

His band were amazing i thought, the best of the best!
It took me and my friend A LOT of effort to see him, but it was WELL worth it!
Nothing Compares To Him!

Regarding the issue on standing up, you should read the terms and conditions. About a quarter of the way up from the very bottom it says, "In seated areas other members of the audience may stand up during the event".

I'm firmly in the camp that says you shouldn't sit during a Prince concert, so am quite happy to stand. In fact, in the floor seats standing is essential. Not sure how my 60 year old mum with a dodgy leg and a disabled badge will find it but she does insist she'll be ok. lol
RIP sad
