Dublin Meetup Venue - "O'Reillys"

Ok - There's been a lot of farting around about a Dublin meetup venue, time to bite the bullet.

Let meetup in "O'Reillys" pub ?

If you're new to Dublin just ask for Tara Street - Dart Station, It's right next to there.

Please post with a suggested meet up time.

Barry.

If you're coming from O'Connell st, the entrance to the dart station is on your right and then theres another turn right immediately after that and its in there down a sort of a tunnel/laneway type thingy...

Fine by me. 2pm it is. What kind of a gaff is O'reillys? Hope its not a cool hip and trendy place like Cafe en seine, but it sounds like an old fashioned dublin pub just going by the name anyway.

I'm glad someone has finally taken the initiative!

I'll be flying in from Aberdeen so hope to make the meet up by 2o/c - daft question maybe, but how will I know who you are ? I'm not in the habit of approaching people in pubs ( not sober anyway)

There should not be many people in the pub at 2pm on a thursday, maybe the people on lunch break will be finishing and heading back to work. How about someone folds a piece of card and writes NPG on it or something and puts it on a table, then everyone will know the spot to gravitate towards! Just an Idea...

I was thinking the same thing Shammy. All it would take is two groups to meet up and I'm sure the rest will follow.

Well it's pretty hard to find an unpretentious old fashioned pub in Dublin these days... smile I hate places like Cafe en Seine, bloody posers! Anyway O'Reilly's is OK I guess, gets pretty busy though. It isn't that trendy, although they do have a funny door policy (I was turned away once for wearing trainers...).

Ian, The Stags Head or The Palace bar would still be considered old fashioned dublin pubs would you agree. good spots, but O'Reillys it is for the sake of convenience.

Hello all,
O'Reillys, or any Dublin 'pub' will be fine.
Fiona and I will be there(Our sixth Prince concert together).
I have a few questions that perhaps you can help us with.
I am anxious having bought Presale tickets.
How many NPGMC members are in Ireland.
Will someone from the NPG be there to help us out.
What are you bringing as per ID/proof of purchase.
Do the point know of the special arangements for NPG members.
Do we queue with normal ticket holders.
looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible for a few drinks beforehand,
regards,
Brendan

Hi all, I am flying in from Glasgow with friend Caroline, arriving 2.45pm. Is it far from airport in taxi to "O'Reillys, and how far is the pub from the Point? Not sure if we should go straight to the point or pub. When are you all planning on leaving "O" Reillys.

It could easily take you a half hour to get from the Airport to O'Reillys, depends on traffic sad

O'Reillys is about a 15 minutes walk from the point but its easy to find, you just cross the river, turn right & follow your nose.

I'll try dig out a Dublin map with the quays on it ?

It will take him well over 1/2 hour from Airport to the point at 3pm ish - traffic in Dublin is awfull during a working day..
what time are we leaving the pub...for those of us who may run late.
Is the folded NPG card on the table still on.
Bflethcer - I think you are voted in as leader of this meetup operation,
anyone any info on afterparty - anyone with any contacts in the Pod,
see you all soon,
Bren and Fi,

Its touch & go whether I can make it to O'Reillys now - Having car trouble & it might be booked in for Thursday / Friday next week sad

p.s. Rang The Point - they have no idea about the NPGMC or the special access arrangements. They gave me the number for MCD who are promoting the event & they said it's up to Princes people ie. NPGMC to organise this ?

Lets hope we can get more info on Friday after the 1st London show ?

Now I am worried...
The Point have no idea of the special arrangements for NPGMC members...
We could be all left outside -
Q-where is your ticket -
A-I dont have one but I do have this piece of paper I printed off the internet...

When you turn up for the souncheck there will be an NPG members desk/window where you pick up you concert passes and members laminates. Just bring Photo ID and a print out of you booking confirmation.

Al

Looks like we're gonna take the long way home 2night... nod

Well the Point said it was up to the promoters (MCD) & MCD then said it would be up to people we bouthgt our tickets from ?

I don't think there is a need to panic but I guess we all won't be able to relax until we are actually inside.

Hopefully someone from the UK shows this weekend will put our fears to rest smile

I am attending Friday night concert in London, and also coming over to Dublin next week. So I'll let you all know the score on Sat morning if no-one else gets back to us before then. Thanks for your previous comments re pub or point from the airport. I think best bet would be to go straight to the point. Can someone bring a packed lunch or KFC for two and I'll keep their place in line. Is there anywhere I can pick up food at or near the point?

Thanks.

If you get in at around 4ish I would go to O'Connell st, grab a bite then walk / taxi to the Point.

Your talking 15 minute walk / 5 minute taxi ride tops !
