A lot of Prince fans do complain when Prince plays the same songs, again. 3. Larry's message is skewed because he always says "you are everyday people" instead of "we are everyday people", thus not really "coming together". (however, in some ways he's right - he's out of the ordinary) Thank you... And while it's a lost cause attempting to explain anything to anyone who uses the term "naysayer," no, there's nothing mean or untrue about it. It's now 10 years since Larry Graham first started joining Prince onstage in his silly white suit and most people were as sick of it then as they are now. No new songs (except for the blip on the radar known as the drivel of GCS2000). He's not even performing his own songs - playing "Everyday People" and other Sly tracks makes him little more than a glorified cover band. It's little different than if the sax player from Huey Lewis & the News toured without Huey Lewis and played "The Power of Love." Nobody wants to see that either. If I want to hear the message of "Everyday People," I'll pop in a greatest hits CD...at least until Sly hits the road again. Graham was a talented bass player. But he's been playing the same notes for far too long and it's tiresome. | |

He will be back.I have to agree with Carrie...He didn't have to come out and say anything and he did. This proves he wanted to play more but just couldn't because of the authorities. I was disappointed but not with Prince. I believe the liquor being served after hours is the issue. I had a great time! I was in the front row to the left of the stage...JAMMIN'!!!     and

I really don't understand this discussion about Larry Graham. Must be his kind-of-father role in Prince's life, that ppl are not willing to accept. Musical fact is: Larry invented the slap bass - one of the key ingredients of FUNK music. Larry created incredible, innovative and groundbreaking Funk songs such as Hair, Jam, The Entertainer, Pow, It's the engine in me, release yourself or can you handle it. Graham Central Station was a brilliant Funk band and a main influence for every Funk musician after. You don't have to lower his importance by making him a little sideman of Sly Stone. Regarding Sound innovation, Funkiness and importance for musical history, Larry should be up there with Maceo. Regarding actual live performances he should remember those good old days of his own explosive albums and play Pow and Foxy Lady rather than doing Sly's hits. Can you handle it? | |

That was a bit weird, silly and extreme. I think the handling of the First Ave event was a bit surreal, especially after he was given official accolades by the mayor and governor earlier that same day. Who...Bob Dylan? Yeah. I know Bob Dylan is from Minnesota, but he's not really synonymous with Minneapolis like Prince is. I've read stories of people flocking to First Avenue, Paisley Park, and parts of Minneapolis after Purple Rain came out, and people still go there today to see the city where Prince lives. I don't think Bob Dylan wore his city on his sleeve the way Prince does. He's given props to the city and name-drops often during concerts and in songs. He also continued to live in the twin cities during the height of his fame and decades afterward. all three shows were awesome, as far as i'm concerned. the quality time with wendy at the target center show was amazing, and the aftershow was the highlight of the whole thing to me. the macy's show was probably my least favorite of the three, but that's not to say i didn't love it or that i didn't have a great time. | |

They did by letting him play almost 50 minutes late. No other act would have been allowed to do so. Prince should have taken the stage earlier at the Target Center if he wanted to play longer at First Avenue. He KNEW the curfew was 3:00 and he didn't take the stage until 2:45. | |

I don't think none of this would be talked about if..... 1. He started the Macy's gig ON TIME. So let's say he plays at 4 and does an hour set, that gives him 3.5 hours to prepare for his Target Center Show. He could have drove to P Park, got something to eat, knocked on a few doors and gave out a few Watchtower and Awake mags. Played a pick up game of B Ball over on Dupont Ave North. 2. Start Target Center ON TIME. The doors were scheduled to open at 7:30. By 8:30, they were wrapping up soundcheck. He's the rumor I heard on the Radio today. They said that Prince called Wendy Saturday and told her he wanted her to play with him. So she dropped everything and flew to Mpls. She landed minutes after 9pm, and he wanted to wait for her. Yeah, OK. So let's say it starts on time and he does the 2:15 set. It's now 10:45, That gives you 4 hrs 15 minutes until First Ave closes. The Loading Door from Target Center is approx 100 yards to First Ave's loading door. Wheel dem shyts over there and set up. With all the taking down, setting up, soundcheck, Prince could have been onstage by 1 am at the latest. That would have gave him 2 hours to do his thang before the fuzz showed up. Now I know shyt happens and things don't work out when you're doing so many things, I'm not saying, I'm just saying. I shouted "Hey, what's this 15 song shyt!"  Life my azz muthafucka, dis is a bitness!!

I have to disagree a little with you: First Avenue was my favorite, then Macys, and then Target Center. The acoustics at First Avenue and at Macys were alot better than the Target Center- Target Center had this weird echo, and sometimes I couldn't hear what he or Sheila E. were saying. I guess I got spoiled going to Vegas, and hearing him in intimate settings. He really seemed to enjoy himself at Macys. I mean, why else would he lean back, and fall into the crowd!! It seems like everyone is complaining or concerned about his late performances or the police shutting down First Avenue early. Who cares! You got to see him, right? You have to remember one thing: It was a great experience! When was the last time you saw Prince perform three times in one day?! That was truely amazing, and I loved every minute of it, and wouldn't trade my experience for anyting. | |

You guys... no performer is above the law. Also- it's FREE PUBLICITY if they get closed down (for the club + for him!)/riot folks show up. In fact, it's even better publicity for both him & the venue if the city had to shut it down!
