Quick First Avenue Review 1. 3121
2. Controvery 3. I Feel For U 4. Girls and Boys 5. Crooked Eye Girl 6. Satisfied 7. Gotta Broken Heart Again 8. Some song by Shelby 9. Love Changes 10. ThankUfalletinmebemicself with Larry Graham and Wendy 11. Sing a Simple Song with Larry Graham and Wendy 12. Everyday People with Larry Graham and Wendy 13. Love Bizarre with Sheila E I'm sure I'm forgetting some songs, but this is what I can remember. He was great. I was afraid that we were going to get the standard jazz aftershow, which I like, but it would not have been appropriate for First Ave. I don't think there is another artist that can play 3 concerts like he did tonight. The only criticism is I really hate it when he does Satisfied and Gotta Broken Heart Again because they drag out and he already did Satisfied at Target, but that is just my opinion. I think he started just after 2 a.m. and he finished at 3:50 a.m. He said that he wanted to go on, but the authorities made him stop playing.

Cool, did he look tired by the end or did he have as much energy as earlier in the day?

Sounds like a great show although I'm a little surprised there was nothing from Purple Rain Always cry 4 love never cry 4 pain

MAN! to see this at this venue is legendary! P., Larry, and Wendy standing in a circle jamming at First Avenue, while Sheila E. ponuds the skins to the side WHEW! I won't be forgetting THAT.
I will leave complete set lists to others, I don't think there was a single repeated song from The Target Center, well worth the wait. I am just bummed that my wife fell ill and had to return to the Hotel after the Target Center. He didn't start at 2:00 a.m. It was more like 2:45. The show was just under 65 minutes (I used my stopwatch on my watch so the length is accurate but I'm not sure of the exact times).

#8 in the setlist (some song by Shelby) was Love is a Losing Game...an Amy Winehouse cover, which was probably directed right at me, as well as Gotta Broken Heart Again. "I also want to thank you for having Prince, William Shatner, Mick Jagger and Puff Daddy on the same stage. That is a sign of the apocalypse." - Robin Williams (Golden Globe Awards 2005).

Prince, Wendy, Sheila, Larry . . . seriously sounds like the start of a "dream team" lineup.

Must have been amazing. Can you imagine how nuts everyone would've been had he done something from "Purple Rain"? I'm jealous of all that were able to get wristbands, unlike myself..... Gotta love the Purple One......

After reading all the reviews it seems like this was THE show of the night. Wish I could've been there!

Here is something a freind who works at First AVe wrote about the show. Apparently First Ave was only supposed to be open until 3:00 and the cops showed up!!
doors finally opened at around one. prin went on at 2:45, said he was "going to play until they kicked me out". the cops showed up in force at 3:45 demanding the show end immediately as the club could only be open until 3(!?). i don't think anyone on the dance floor had any idea the coppers were there when prince ended the set abruptly, promising to return. they wouldn't let me shoot it. expletive deleted. i schlepped load-in and did security for the soundboard to earn my purple staff shirt (with 07/07/07 on the sleeve). i got a couple offers to buy it right of my back. the show was hot and action-packed, but i was hoping for a rock set and what we got was his vegas show. slicker than shit and i prolly couldn't have made it through another hour of it. wife pissed i'm home late.

Nightclubs close at 1 in Minne? It's been 3 yrs since i've been. So 3:45 is really pushing it for the city and the police. So they showed a little love.

Nope that is the old rules. They can now serve alcohol until 2:00 and stay open until 3:00. First Ave was open until 3:00 the night before for the Prince/80's Dance Party. Prince was having FUN! Controversy was great. They started the music and people cheered. he said "We're at First Ave, you know we gotta!" Twards the end he stared chanting in a weird voce "My Name is Prince. My name is Prince..." They started the music for Satisfied and I kinda thought "well, I don't really need this again, but he went into the whole "Crooked eye girl" thing which was soo funny. Talking about the girl with three hands, right hand, left hand and underhanded..." So many good lines in that one, it cracked me up! 3121 was performed totally different than he did it at the Macy's show. Much longer and more funky. He looked great with the doo-rag, black shades, black jacket and pants. My feet were hurtin' at that point but what a fun time!

I can't even begin to describe the thrill of seeing Prince at First Ave. He looked hot. The first half of the show was unabelievable (the second half wsa good but not QUITE as good) and it SUCKS that the police shut the place down. We saw some dickhead old man tryna get Shelia's attention while furiously pointing at his watch. She just pretended like she didn't know what was happening and kept playing. Clearly the message was received as they left the stage shortly after and Prince made one final solo appearance at the mic to explain that they were forcing them off the stage, thanked us all and promised to return soon. FUCKING AMAZING.
