DevotedPuppy said: unique said: the "you know who" was al gore. obviously not because he put on the show and is trying to save the planet, but because his wife started the parental advisory stickers after listening to prince songs like darling nikki, which the foo's covered (as well as drive me wild) I could have sworn that when it aired on NBC last night Dave actually said it was dedicated to Al Gore, by name. I wasn't planning on watching it but I saw this thread so I tuned in. Can't remember which, but Grohl dedicated another track to Gore. I presumed 'You know who' was Bush. If it was Prince, that's probably a little known reference, so people wouldn't know at all, surely? A quick look on a FF forum, and the consensus there is that it was Bush. But apparently some reckoned it was a reference to Kurt Cobain. My money's on Bush tho'.

Haha only on a Prince forum. As if anyone in the audience would "know who" regarding Prince. Place your bets on Cobain, Al Gore or George Dubya first. Glug, glug like a mug

I doubt it was Cobain. Dave doesn't make to many references to those days, but when he does, he's not shy about it. He'd probably just come right out and say "my friend Kurt" or "a brother that's gone now" or something along those lines. Gotta love the Purple One......

Maybe his dedication was not a dedication at all.
By saying "this is dedicated to well, you know who" could just be a reflection of the lyrics. The dedication is to a person is that is getting the best of YOU. Maybe we are all just reading wayyyyy tooo much into it. Later Cause tomorrow is taking too long
and yesterday's too far away and the reality that you believe in begins to bind.
