I've just returned home from seeing Justin Timberlake at O2 last night. That was a great concert, but the venue will really suit Prince as he is good at performing in the round. My seat was in the upper block, row E and I had a really good view. But my seat for Prince is block 103, row C!

There are loads of cafes and bars at the O2 dome so its worth arriving early. Travelling there was relatively easy (North Greenwich Jubilee line) and JT probably made an effort to finish at 11, so that the tube could get people home. Having visited the millenium dome in 2000, it's great to see that they are making proper use of the venue again.

I'm really excited about going to see Prince on the 14th Aug. JT was good, but that was just the warm up.

Hey exeter did you get searched by security for things like cameras etc ? Did most people have cameras at the concert ?

Didn't see anyone with a proper camera though, so sorry I can't answer your question. From previous experience Prince concerts have really strict security, so if you take your camera don't be surprised if you have to hand it in (and get it back at the end of the concert).

and is the concert runs past 12, what happens then? Does the tube stop running at midnight? How'd you get back over the over the river?

Oh no, now I feel responsible for all you people who are worrying about travel.
It will be fine - I've been to several Prince concerts in London and managed to catch the tube after the show. There were problems with people stranded at the dome after the Bon Jovi concert at O2, but the organisers are anxious to avoid bad publicity and have sorted this out now.

I'm not sure but I think there is a 11 pm curfew for concerts in England. all the shows I have seen in england finished at or before 11 pm , becasue the venues or promoters need a special licence to have any artist play longer.

Can anyone confirm that?

The Inigo2 after shows DO go on very late (early hours apparently) and each night when there is such an event the Thames boats will be travelling back into town so night buses can be caught... you can get details of these off

As far as cameras in the o2 go I emailed customer services and asked - they assured me that phones were allowed, so I can only assume that they won't make you check them in.... Not convinced abut actual cameras though.....

Cameras are allowed I got an official response from O2 customer services..

Thanks for your email. You are allowed a small personal camera with you, just don’t break out a tripod or a zoom lens and you should be fine! Enjoy the concert!

With reference to the finishing time for Justin. I work there and know that the curfew for concerts weeknights is 11.30 and on Sundays 11.00. The last tube going Stratford direction is quite late at about 1-1.30 and going toward central london it is currently 1239 though may be slightly earlier on a Sunday. As regards camera's I'm not 100%, obviously mobile phones no problem but I know they have ejected several people for misuse of items.In one case 3 people were removed from the venue for (so I'm told) trying to video the concert - the three people were in the highest price 100 plus section as well! Hopes this helps!

Usually venues rules for cameras are is that they are ok, as long as they are a normal compact camera - any sort of professional camera with a big zoom are forbidden. However an artist can request to ban all photography if they wish - I think this is what price will do - but until after August 1st we won't really know.
