found this on housequake..: one guy said: Cody aka truefunksoldier aka darklotus69 aka the guy who gets on stage almost everytime 4 "Play That Funky Music" was hearing sound check at around 8:00. He got off the phone 2 talk 2 Mike Phillips. I was literally a 100 feet from there at the El Capitan trying 2 be strong. They have a in the back entrance of the Roosevelt with 3121 Roosevelt hotel underneath it. The Marque was changed 3 have 3121 on it. While I was leaving where I was at 3:00 a.m., it appears either the main show was letting out or the after show (I have a feeling it was the main show as no reviews have been posted yet, which means some fans who paid $312.00 were able 2 get in. ) there was paparazzi and video cameras everywhere. There were fine women wearing very little close 2 nothing with celebs and a few just walking around getting cameramen's attention by showing what they got. I try 2 not get dejected. I could not go 2 any Glam Slam L.A. Shows as I was 2 young and no 3121 L.A. cuz I don't have the funds. That is on me tho. It hurts..but everything happens 4 a reason... O.K. that's all I know, now those that were there, can u please post we know what was going on inside? the next post was this: show was from 12 30 to 2 15 and the after show started around 3 15 and went to 5 20 am nika costa gusted on stage for purple rain no suprises as far as set list is concerned although greg boyer told me they reheresd chelsea rodgers and guitar celebs in attendence were suge night and diddy sitting next to each other wtf and i also say fred arminson (prince from snl) after show was amazing allthough i was suprised how many people couldent hang til 5:15 am essp sence aftershow was avalible to all guests by the end of the aftershow there were maybe only 30 people left ok i off to bed

you're comparing two different venues and setup. i agree about trouble getting tickets but i'm sure any artists who has a concert in a room of 200 would have a much higher ticket price. just wish getting the tixs was much easier. I also believe the Police auctioned there front row tickets as well. [Edited 6/24/07 9:34am]

I just saw this concert (Police) few weeks ago. I had fun but it really made me appreciate Prince "that much more" considering the band LITERALLY just stood there for 2 hours.....Good songs; not much of performers Bring on the Earth Tour.....these Roosevelt shows don't sound too exciting! I agree! I saw the Police at the Staples Center wednesday night and all I could think about was how much they sucked compared to Prince was when I saw him there in 2004. It really was such a tremendous difference that it also made me realize just how special a live performance by Prince is. I'm seeing him next friday at the Roosevelt!!!
phunk Whatever it is, it´s got to be PHUNKy!!!

3121 at Hollywood Roosevelt
I arrived at 7:30pm to the Hollywood Blvd. entrance to the hotel which was lit up in purple lights. I stood in line outside for a couple of minutes before being let inside to be checked in and given a white wristband. Walked past a purple carpet and 3121/Verizon Wireless/Hollywood Roosevelt photo wall and into the hotel lobby. There was a sound check in progress, which sounded great. There was a large bar outside the Blossom Room and I got myself a Red Bull because I knew that it was going to be a long night. I sat in a chair in the lobby and very much enjoyed the great music. I meet Prince fam Cody who is the “Play the Funky Music” enthusiastic dancer with Prince’s red pimp hat. The door to the Blossom room kept opening and when I got up to take a look, there was Prince jamming away in a dark suit and sunglasses just on the other side. Sweet! At this point, I have to tell you, the lobby was pretty much empty. There were more publicists and security than anything. There were monitors placed all over the lobby & bar that played the Verizon “Guitar” spot every 10 minutes or so. The sound check was over at about 8:30. Next came what I thought was one of the best parts of the evening. One by one, the band members came out of the Blossom Room and into the lobby to chat. It was great to see them in their street clothes and being so warm and friendly. Cody seems to know all of them and they all took their time to have conversations with him. I’m too shy for that, but it was great to see how warm they all seem to be. Because it was the first night, things at the venue were pretty unorganized. The doors to the Blossom Room were opened at about 11:00. By this time, we figured out that the GA folks got white wristbands and the VIPs had black. Entertainment Tonight was there and did a video piece on the perfume and the show. I was excited to get a spray sample of 3121 perfume on my wrist and can’t wait to be able to buy it. When the doors opened it was for black wristbands only, however there weren’t very many of those. So, as you can imagine all the white wristbands wanted in and it got to be a short pushing match to get in. Security asked everyone to get back and slowly let white wristbands in. The room was set up with three section of very large black booths. 12 booths in all. The G.A.s were lead to the back of the room behind the booths. The room was beautiful, the tables at the booths were set with candles and lovely purple flowers. DJ Rashida was spinning good tunes and was joined by the now infamous Chelsea Rodgers. Here is where it got kind of annoying. All of us white wristbands where in the standing room area and only about 20% of the booths were full. As it got later and later and there was so much empty space in the booths, it seemed that lots of white wristband folks slipped into the booths. There was plenty of security to prevent this but from what I could tell, the publicists were slipping their groups of friends into the booths. Various hotel people, Verizon people, and others with the 3121 event hard cards all seemed to have friends that they wanted to lead into the booths. I also heard a rumor that you could pay $100 to get into the booths but I didn’t see any money actually being exchanged. There were also plenty of celebs in the room. Hilary Swank was the only one that had come for dinner from what I could tell and she and her boyfriend sat in one of the front booths. Also seen were Jay Mohr & Nikki Cox, P. Diddy, Suge Knight, Fred Armisten, Topher Grace, Penelope Cruz, & Rick Fox. Producer Robert Evans was there for dinner, but left before the show. The show started at about 12:45 and began with the 3121 horns playing Down by the Riverside. It sounded amazing. The rest of the show was pretty much the normal 3121 set; my best attempt at a list: Satisfied 3121 Girls & Boys Cream U Got the Look Pink Cashmere Lolita Black Sweat Kiss Shhh Musicology Shelby songs – sounded great Purple Rain Encore: Get on the Boat Crazy Since you took your love away Show was over about 2:30am The sound in the room left a lot to be desired. After “Satisfied” Prince walked to the back of the room to have a long chat with the sound guy and didn’t seem too happy. But he got into the show and into the room. He seemed to enjoy playing in a room full of people that he knew. He walked off the stage and into the room several times. The booth folks responded most to the hits like Kiss but seemed to have a lot less energy for the less known songs. We adjoined to the lobby where there where plenty of couches and chairs to relax in. The after show began about 3:45 and sounded great. Greg Boyer, Mike Phillips, and Maceo are such solid musicians. Renato as well. I just sat back and enjoyed it. You could definitely get very close to stage to jam, but again, I’m a bit shy. When Prince joined the band, the energy in the room because much more intense. He popped on and off the stage in a black military inspired suit and sunglasses. At maximum, I am going to guess that there were no more than 100 people in the room. By the end of the evening I would guess there were about 30 people in the room. It was fun to have lots of room to dance and I enjoyed some of the crazy groovers dancing in the back of the room. At 5:10 Prince said “Thank You! Get Out!” I don’t think that I have ever come home as sun was coming up, but it was another fun experience that I can chalk up to Prince. "This is just another one of God's gifts..."

Nobody bought those $3121 tickets. They had to let you stay or Prince would be singing "Empty Room" to his band.

The twinz were definitely performing - sorry that I left them out. I think they are awesome! As far as the chef, I'm afraid that I don't know about that because you needed a black wristband to get into the restaurant. "This is just another one of God's gifts..."
