Aftershows @ The Indigo2?

http://www.musicweek.com/default.asp

According to the above source, aftershows will take place at the Indigo music club venue within the O2 after each and every concert:

"tickets are going on sale for after-show jam sessions at the 2,300-capacity sister venue The Indigo, where The New Power Generation will perform after every O2 Arena show, with some mooted to include appearances by Prince himself".

hmmm...a bit disappointing if they're all going to be in the O2. It's defintely not somewhere I'd like to find myself at 3am after an aftershow so I'd really want to know upfront if Prince will be performing or not...

I have just spoken to ticketmaster (the number on the bottom of this website is answered by them) but they haven't got any news on the tickets yet.

I wonder when these will go on sale.....?

I would love to go to an aftershow!!!

This 'aftershow' thing is even more scripted than in during ONA in Europe, 2002.
The whole thing is going in a direction I don't really like. But what can I do?

Whatever happens with these aftershows I hope that the tickets are all one price and none of the VIP/auction shenanigans we have seen with the concert tickets. Especially if there is no guarantee of Prince actually showing up.
If it is the Indigo2 as reported, I don't fancy our chances of all getting transport from the venue at that time of night. You can't really walk anywhere from the Dome and if the Indigo2 holds 2,300ish then that's a hell of a lot of taxis!!

No need for taxis unless you can't walk a few minutes...the venue is part of the same development.

You misunderstood me, I meant taxis back to hotels after the aftershow. There will be no tubes or buses at that time of night.

It seems safe to assume that there will be a VIP element. Assuming a General Admission floor set-up, the club has several tiers of tables in the front of the balcony, behind which appears to be several hundred tiered seats, behind whih there is some standing room.

So you'll probably have several options, priced accordingly:

(1) stand all day in line outside the club in order to stake out a primo stagefront standing spot (the "comfortable shoes only" option);

(2) pay more for a table and bottle service and a relatively unobstructed balcony view (the "look at all those uncivilized stagefront heathens elbowing each other, I'm glad we're rich" option);

(3) a seat in the back of the balcony (otherwise known as the "if those rich assholes would sit at their fuckin' table and not dance, I'd have a clear view of Maceo" option.); and

(4) standing room in the back of the balcony (otherwise know as the "if I hadn't waited for your slow ass, we could have exercised option 3" option).

I just booked my friend to the Bon Jovi aftershow at the indago.

It might be different for Prince of course but with the Bon Jovi one the tix
were £20 per person. Doors open at 11pm, it closes at 4am and includes a boat which runs all night into Londons West end.

It might be a better option for those staying central.

You're right there. I wouldn't like to hang round Greenwich in the day let alone after dark. Just my experience of chavs that live round there.

Good point - I just noticed that Dr John, whoever he is, is playing the Indigo2 on the 3rd August and Ricky Skaggs, again I don't have a clue who he is, is on the 4th. NO aftershows those nights or aftershows at a different location?

In response to an earlier comment, I don't think VIP ticket holders will get access to the aftershow.

You're paying the additional funds for right or wrong for:- a free bar/drinks & canapes (albeit briefly), a boat trip (if you went for the more expensive option), a DJ, a private area and being ushered to your seats (without going back into that debate) within the first 10 rows.

The aftershows will be completely ticketed once more, with AEG handling it.

It depends how many there are but I would imagine the scramble will be similar for Koko in Camden - if there are only a few.

Having seen the photos of the new o2 arena that someone posted earlier, I'm really encouraged by what I see, if this is an accurate picture/representation I can't see any lower tier seat being a bad one to be honest. The Upper tier looks a little steep though...I have one for one of the Saturday shows - I'll let you know!

My final thought is that I doubt there will be an aftershow on September 21st - I'd be surprised if there was - which is why it's best to get a ticket for the 'final' show...you'd expect Prince to really go out in style.

Hypothetically, Would one need to attend the concert that same night to get access to the after show?
Someone mentioned that AEG would probably be dealing with aftershow tkts, so does anyone imagine that there might be an option to buy aftershow tkts separately/instead of show tkts?

Well, it's still possible. If those shows are on at normal gig times (say 9pm start), then it's a question of how quickly one stage setup can be broken down and Prince's one put up. Aftershows often don't start till 2am. We'll have to see - would be nice to have some aftershows in other parts of town though (and in a smaller venue). The Marquee in 2002 had a capacity of 900, compared to KOKO's 1,500.

The Indigo doesn't seem like the most intimate venue for an aftershow.

I'm going crazy waiting for these aftershows to go on sale...it can't be good for my health! Can't find anything about them on the idigo2 site or ticketmaster. Maybe they'll go on sale in July to coincide with the album launch?
