We got a bit excited, as did seemingly everyone in the music and celeb blogosphere, that Prince would be starting up a seven-week gig of Friday night shows at the infamous Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Last we heard, the contracts were in the process of being finalized and the first show date was set for this Friday, June 15.

Yet a reliable HotelChatter tipster informed us that Prince will not be singing/cooking/playing jazz/shooting hoops with guests this Friday. Our source maintains that nothing is official in regards to Prince playing at the hotel, but everyone involved is optimistic.

Furthermore, the above photo of a marquee touting that "the Revolution was just around the corner" was actually taken over a year ago when Prince performed at the hotel during Amanda Scheer-Demme's reign--remember her?

None of this means Prince, won't do a series of shows at the Roosevelt Hotel, we still think he will, or are at least still extremely hopeful he will, however, don't get in line this Friday--there will be no show.

Meanwhile, LAist has speculated that ticket prices will contain Prince's favorite numbers 3121, like $3,121 for one ticket. We're hoping he picks the wallet-friendly price of $31.21 instead.

I bet the ticket prices are $312.01 like it was on New Year's Eve and the Empire Ballroom shows.

Interesting aside...I drive through Hollywood on the way to work and there are street signs up this week that say "Hollywood Blvd. will be closed on 6/15 from 2:30 p.m. to 12 a.m" at Highland (near the Roosevelt)...before reading this, I was sure this was some kind of undercover Prince arrival (not to start a rumor but that was my gut instinct)....I'm gonna check today and see if the signs are down now.

Street closures are public record. The Emmy Award show will be June 15th at the Kodak. Considering this award show was planned way ahead of time, that supposed June 15th Prince performance date I am sure was never even scheduled.

Oh that makes sense now... I also live 3 blocks away from the roosevelt and man everytime there's an award show that area becomes a major pain in the **s to drive around... No way he could do a show as his "guests" wouldn't be able to be driven to the venue in a convenient manner... Also maybe they already had some kind of after award emmy party planned at the roosevelt..

Grrr now onto waiting for next week... This is a tad frustrating if I may say soo... wink

7 shows for 7 weeks.. was supposed to be june 15th through the end of july I guess.. But now if he does it, he'll have to do more than one show a week to make it before london....

I'm thinking he'll seriously condense the number of weeks like do 2-3 shows a week for a few weeks then be done.
