Rhythm Republik and Friends perform Sign 'O' the Times
Fri, Jun 8 at 9pm at BAM cafe* Called one of the most important achievements in pop music history by The Guardian (UK) and "a masterpiece" by Rolling Stone, Prince's monumental double album and concert film Sign 'O' the Times was one of the 1980s' most ambitious and unflinching self-portraits. Punctuating sultry ballads and rock anthems with straight-faced references to AIDS and the drug war, it was as timely as it was danceable. But leave it to Brooklyn's own Rhythm Republik to make Prince's SOTT a sign of our own times. Assisted by an all-star roster of special guests, they’ll be recreating the album live, note for note. *BAM= Brooklyn Academy of Music. See here: http://www.bam.org/events...elive.aspx | |
