NPGMC, MPLS, and fans..do you feel shit on this time around? I dunno. I guess we have been very spoiled in the past with Prince and the npgmusicclub. I began to take for granted that when I'd go to a Prince show in MPLS and be surrounded by a swarm of other fellow hardcore Prince fans.
This time around I have got the weird sense that the "good" seats, that used to be for the clubmembers, will be taken by the well to do, well connected, casual gawkers who came mostly to hear Purple Rain. Yes, there is Macy's. However, I'd suggest that this is in the interest of marketing and hype rather than "Cutting out the middle man" and ssense of fan community that the NPGMC took care of. MPLS Prince fans--it feels different this time around. I am excited, but sad that I won't be surrounded by all of you. I am disappointed that the wondeful fanclub opportunities have not translated over to the 3121 era. How do you guys feel about this? [Edited 5/31/07 11:56am] "New Power slide...."

I live here in LA and something tells me these Roosevelt shows will no doubt be amazing but the crowd will be full of celebs, Hollywood types that are just there to be seen and hear his biggest songs...I also have a feeling the price to see him will be an obnoxious amount. As much as I want to go..I may pass. Half the fun of going to see him is being around hard core fans...we are all stranger-friends...when we meet we feel like we knew each other all our lives! He needs to do some shows exclusively for us at some point. peace Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Two things.
1. I just feel it is so ironic now because when the NPGMC was up and running, apart from complaints about the forum and available downloads, folks here (not you), used to downplay its purpose and even say how they wouldn't miss it, and I know they are eating their words now. 2. Yes!!! I feel pretty shitty. I was able to enjoy the NPGMC benefits for about 2 concerts so I know what its like. The NPGMC was a benefit to the fans and to Prince and so its weird that it shut down.

He needs to do some shows exclusively for us at some point. peace I agree. I hate the "see and be seen" crowd at some of Prince's concerts. We're all paying the same amount for the tickets, so there should be no problem letting the real fams up front. We're the ones who bring the energy and know the songs. Some of the people in the VIP section in Vegas didn't even know what 3121 was. A guy at my table asked me if Prince "still did the splits?" However, the previous night when I was up front on the floor, everybody knew all the songs. They were the ones buying stuff from the boutique and working up a black sweat dancing and singing all night long. So, I agree that it would be nice for us fams to be able to get good seats and enjoy the shows together. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

i feel fine.
at this point i've seen the best and the worst ticket situations, and really, this is just interesting. i think it's nice that people in his hometown are getting the big perk this time, and we haven't seen how this is all going to play out just yet.

I'll be there dancing up a storm and singing and clapping till my hands bleed just like last time.

I think Prince is on some whole other page now (as far as not giving a damn about whether there will be scalpers) and while I miss the Club for a lot of reasons, I don't miss the bitching about it.

When NPG went under, I knew it was the end of an era. Did I hope that some other ticket perk would pop up? sure! Do I feel 'shit on' that it hasn't? not in ANY way.
I'm from MPLS. I saw li'l dude for free or just about free more times than I can even count. So we have to deal with some ticket stress this time around, oh well. He did choose MPLS to play after all. He coulda chosen any other city for this launch. It's not like he's doing a mssive multi-city tour right now. I weirdly feel lucky. And (marketing reasons aside) by making the Macy's package ONLY available at the MPLS Macy's, he is giving us locals the shot to be there. It's up to each of us how much effort we are willing to put into that.

AAH ... as the saying goes ya don't miss the water until the well goes dry
I feel as if there were too many complaints in reguards to how they felt things should be run, so now we ALL pay that extra fee ...now no one is perfect but it was a hellova lot better knowing that the fans who were there to really party were front and center! well thankfully we all still get to go and be amongst friends from far, so for that i'm cool with the way things are now [Edited 5/31/07 22:28pm]

What I liked about NPGMC was the easy access to very good seats.
In this new system, excellent seats are still available if you want them, except now you have to jump through friggin hoops to get them. You have to get a specific credit card, buy perfume, travel on someone's stupid boat, live in someone's specific country, buy someone's phone etc. I really don't mind paying for the privilege of good seats, but please don't make me buy perfume.
