lots from the 3121 album even though no hits and would also looooove to see the following "hits" get a fresh funked up airing - when doves cry, most beautiful girl, mountains ( it's overdue ), alphabet street, and 7.

Through in days of wild & the roof will need fixing next day

We always hear that, "last time he will perform the hits" crap. It won't be his last time at all. If he's gonna do big shows he will have to, to cater for all those 'casuals'.
I personally don't like too many hits, I prefer other album stuff.
The amount of times I've stood next to people and heard them say "I don't know this one, what is it? and they look at each other with blank faces! biggrin So many people EXPECT just to see him perform the hits and that's all, just so boring.

Yeah, you are just about spot-on! your 'source' is good. You forgot to mention that 'Betcha By Golly Wow!' comes right after Jughead, how-ever. 9 minutes extended jam.

You must be joking. He did enough greatest hits stuff years ago. I hope he chooses a nice mix of old and newer stuff.

Personally, he could sing anything and I will be happy. Having said that I would love to hear him sing On The Couch, but seeing as it isn't a hit it's not as likely, but it is a possibility.

Good god, I'm going to be incredibly disappointed if thats the setlist he uses for The Orphuem. There's almost nothing on there that gets me excited. You can't seriously tell me that isn't a lackluster set list.

10 minutes of silence? If he did that I had better need the loo at that point.

Haystack,

I just wanted to say that's one of the funniest posts I've seen on Prince.org in years.

Loving the setlist...hope everyone got it! (Maybe not though...!) I'd suggest one of my own but how do I top that?!

Ps be careful what you wish for - LOL!!

Nice one, Haystack. wink

OK, seriously - here's my 'fantasy' set for this summer's shows. Based on my own personal preferences, whilst also taking into account some obvious "rules" Prince plays by. Or doesn't - depending on the night!

This is a set that I think could actually make everyone at the 20,000 seat arena happy (remember - there's gonna be loads of of newbies craving the hits there, and wouldn't even us die-hards have an even better time knowing that even the "casuals" got what they wanted?)

Here we go:

LOTS OF 'HITS' PLAYED IN THEIR ENTIRETY (1 hour)- for the "casuals" who came to hear the stuff they know. eg. one hit off each big selling album, or huge singles? But WITHOUT going into long extended jams - save time for other stuff.

(1) Controversy (2) 1999 (3) When Doves Cry (4) Raspberry Beret (inc. Take Me With U) (5) Kiss (inc. Black Sweat) (6) Sign O' The Times (7) Alphabet St.(8) Cream (9) Nothing Compares 2 U (10) The Most Beautiful Girl In The World

"OLDIES" MEDLEY / FUNK: (20 mins) He could pack in a good few great dance tracks for the die-hard fans, and he's well-known for editing songs down into medleys anyway.

(11) Soft 'N' Wet (12) Sexy Sancer (13) I Wanna Be Your Lover (14) Head

PIANO MEDLEY (20 mins)

(15) Starfish & Coffee (16) When 2 R In Love)(17) Condition Of The Heart (18) Diamonds & Pearls (19) Te Amo Cora-wotsit (@!!&* - whatever!! - get it out of the way wink(20) If I Was Your Girlfriend (21) Call My Name (22) Musicology (Boogie Woogie piano version - HA!!- think Delirious!)

OK, 4-5 TRACKS FROM THE NEW ALBUM - it's gonna happen. And they'll know doubt be big extended jams. (45 mins)

(22)-(26) ...

"RECENT" TRACKS
(ie. post-One Night Alone) THAT HAVENT'T YET BEEN AIRED IN THE UK (baring in mind we've had 'versions' of Musicology and Call My Name... (30 mins):

(27) Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance (28) 3121 (29) Lolita (30) Get On The Boat

SIGN O' THE TIMES 20th ANNIVERSARY MEDLEY
(ACOUSTIC GUITAR MEDLEY)
How cool would that be, huh..?: (20 mins)

(31) I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man (32) Forever In My Life (33) Strange Relationship (34) Play In The Sunshine (35) The Cross

....BURSTING INTO FULL BAND RENDITIONS OF: (30 mins)

(36) Housequake (37) It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night - full-on twenty minute party jam!

OH, AND THROW IN:

(38) Now (39) 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 (40) plus some kind of James Brown funk tribute.

...AND I'LL BE HAPPY.

I'd be happy for a good mix, but I do think from what I've seen of the Las Vegas setlists (and Koko), the O2 shows could do with a few more hits.

If he's going to (hopefully!) be doing 2.5hr shows, there's room for more than he's been doing, and still have plenty time for newer stuff, and older album stuff.

Of the really obvious bankers, I'd love to see / hear :

Little Red Corvette
Let's Go Crazy
Sign O The Times
Alphabet Street
Raspberry Beret
Kiss
Purple Rain

Less obviously :

When U Were Mine
I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man
Pop Life
One of Us
Anna Stesia
I Wish U Heaven
Girls and Boys
Mountains
Anotherloverholenyohead
Sometimes It Snows In April
Take Me With U
Dirty Mind
I Wanna Be Your Lover
Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad

Of course there's no way in hell he'll ever play many of those in the same set, but I'll put my hand up and admit I'd be a bit dissapointed if he didn't play anything on that list.

I'd like each night's set to last around 19 hours to fit in absolutely everything I'd like to hear. This would allow the sleep deprived Prince to have a quick wash, some jaffa cakes and then back on stage for the next gig. The last night would see the exhausted legend play the theme tune to Magic Roundabout on the saxaphone for 10 minutes before collapsing into a corner muttering 'I'm some sort of lizard'.

sounds like a great set,
but I would add:

17 days

eye Hate U

computer Blue

&
a cover of
(Wilson's Picket's) Mustang Sally
I always wanted to hear Prince
sing that classic

not to mention all the other songs I'll
think about later

....chriss....
