i just hate the fact that ebay not only allow this to happen, but they promote it, sometimes when you go to the ebay front page it will have a big heading and picture of "concert tickets" etc...

Ebay.co.uk I believe had to put a stop to the sale of all football tickets being sold on there, so why doesn't this happen with concert tickets.. It's out of hand, not only are some people left with no choice but to pay stupid money for a ticket, but it means most of the real fans end up getting crap seats...

Even when you get an artist who gives fan club presales, it seems the touts just join them and get all the good seats first..

Resale of Tickets

The Price Indications (Resale of Tickets) Regulations 1994

The Regulations affect you if;

you re-sell tickets for 'entertainments' - e.g. tickets for plays, shows, concerts and sporting events, and
you are not the holder or promoter of the event or acting on behalf of such a holder or promoter.
Ticket agencies are not the only businesses affected by the Regulations. Coach companies offering trips to plays, concerts, shows, or sporting events need to be aware of them too.

What do the Regulations require?

If you give a price indication for a ticket, you must also give the following information:

The full details which appear on the ticket, including its face value and any terms and conditions.
The location of the seat, including any features which may adversely affect a purchaser's use or enjoyment of it, which are known or could reasonably be expected to be known by you, - e.g. restricted view, limited access - even if this information does not appear on the ticket.
The required information must be given before any contract is made. The information on the ticket must be given clearly, prominently and legibly in writing (except for telephone sales, where it must be given audibly and in a manner that is comprehensible to the consumer). Where the seller and purchaser deal face-to-face, it is enough to show the ticket to the consumer, so that he/she can read it before buying it.

You can still buy a few tickets on ticket master, Ok the seats are top tier but why pay inflated prices for something you can't guarantee you will get from ebay or a tout.

We org'er etc should stick together and swap/sell at face value to eachother

If the O2 doesn't run a "sell on your spares" system (I seriously doubt they will - only ever saw this happen once, at Wembley Arena) maybe we could unofficially come up with a meeting point prior to the shows where we can say hi to each other, and also do ticket swaps/sales. Face value only.

Pref somewhere out of sight of the touts. Or maybe not? Maybe we should do it right under their noses

Not everyone is lucky enough to get straight in and get the tickets they wanted, so eventually, if you want to go to the gigs, you will have no choice but buy them off someone else. That's the whole problem.

Hopefully, as mentioned before, the supply will actually be higher than the demand, nearer the dates, and these people may actually lose money . So if anybody wants to try their luck, i would suggest leaving it to the last week or so before the event. Maybe loads of bargains to be had.

just checked out the completed items since Friday, lots of unsold tickets and a few lucky people got a pair at between 50 and 70 quid..and the amount for sale has actually dropped from 1200 to 1000 items !!

customs and excise want to get their asses to these events and catch the touts..cause u can bet ure ass they arent paying tax on their profits!! i've sold my extra ticks to friends for the price i bought them.

Back in 1997, when Prince first started to discourage scalping, he came up with a pretty much bulletproof anti-scalping "voucher" system. For example, I attended a May 1997 concert in Louisville, Kentucky, where ticket sales worked like this:

All tickets were sold through the venue's box office on the day before the show -- no Ticketmaster. (This was something of a pain, as I lived a few hours away.) Instead of your tickets, you were given a voucher with your name, type of ID, and ID number written on it. Then, on the night of the show, people were first admitted to a side room where you showed your ID and exchanged your voucher for your tickets. After this, you had to go directly through the lobby and into the arena.

The problem with the voucher system was the time it took. I think the venue held something like 5,000 people, and with a maximum of two tickets per purchaser, they had to process maybe 2,500 people. Prince was forced to start the show before everyone was able to get in, even though the show started a few hours late.

The voucher system was slowly relaxed and eventually scrapped. During the 2004 tour, they merely required all NPGMC presale tickets to be picked up at will call. It wasn't scalper-proof, but seemed to work well enough.

What information do I need when buying tickets?
You will need your registration number obtained during the registration process. Registration numbers must be given for EACH person wishing to attend, i.e. to buy two tickets will require two different registration numbers. No tickets may be purchased without a valid registration number.

PLEASE NOTE - the registration number is linked to a personal facial image that customers would have submitted during the registration process. This image will be printed on the ticket and only that person will be admitted to the Festival.
