Hammersmith - the game plan

Ok...so we all bundle in for the soundcheck at 5pm and nab decent seats which have to then guard with our life for the duration...

now, talk me through, someone, what happens next...is the band on stage already, does the small one initiate a Q&A from the start, or does he just chat in between songs...?

does he mingle with the crowd or keep a distance?

is it likely to be dominated by dullards who sing his praises or women who want to shag him? or are we going to be sensible??

and, perhaps most importantly, do we have to sit there like lemons in between the soundcheck and the show and if so how long is the gap???

oh, and finally, when does news of any aftershow leak out?

questions, questions, questions eh?

This is not a private audience with God. The man is a musician. Granted, he's probably the most talented one around right now, but he's just a person.

If you want to ask a question, ask one. If he doesn't answer it or sulks, that's his problem. The place will be packed with people who will be too awe-struck to make any sense, or who want to show off by asking some obscure question that he probably doesn't even know the answer to himself.

It's also a fair bet that at least some of the women want to shag him.

Aftershow? I think NPGMC said they're announced at the end of the concerts. I remember they also said that the aftershows are most likely to be dance parties rather than prince performances.

Just go to enjoy the concert - anything else that goes on is a bonus.

sorry, just to clarify, i have no intention of asking him a question - nor am i some saddo fan...just wondered how it all worked that's all...

(i'm still perturbed by the possibility of not being able to go to the bar between soundcheck and show for fear of someone half-inching me seat!)

Here are my observations on "the game plan" based on what happened at NY in April.

Firstly YOU queue - then you queue some more, then it rains and you keep queuing (get used to it)

Then you pick up your laminate and wrist band at a desk that is so badly organised its not funny!

THEN you can "bundle in" well trickle in for the soundcheck at 5pm (if you are lucky) and nab crap seats that you have been forced into then guard with your life (or coat) for the duration...

the band is on stage already, and are doing a SOUND CHECK! Prince will chat with obsessives at the front who are shouting stupid things at him like "play the War (full verison)" - You know who you are TTTV 1999
God knows why he does?
At NY he let a fan on stage to jam with him - take your oboe's violins, triangles and Xlophones with you just in case!

In NY he mingled with the crowd and cracked jokes. He also sat with us and sang along to the band whilst slagging off Candy for being out of key.

is it likely to be dominated by dullards who sing his praises or women who want to shag him or people who post stupid game plans to Prince.org??

yes all of the above!! (theyre Prince fans remember!)

and, perhaps most importantly, do we have to sit there like lemons in between the soundcheck and the show and if so how long is the gap???

YES
20 minutes while he takes a dump and puts his best spangley knickers on

oh, and finally, when does news of any aftershow leak out?

They "leak it out" over the PA (for premium members with laminates!!)

Questions?

See you in Hammersmith - ill be the one in the front wearing my bellydancing outfit shouting play the war - long version waiting to catch the symbol tambourine or drum stick so i can sell it on EBAY

eek)
