Ticket prices for Europe

The tickets for the concerts in the US were éxtremely high in my opinion. If Prince comes to Europe how much are you willing to pay for the ticket. 125 Euro?

Yep! This don't happen often. Baked beans for a week so I can afford my £77.50 (€125) if thats what it costs.

Over 100 Euro!???
For just 2 to maybe 3 hours of music?
I think the shows are very good, etc, but 100+ Euro is pure madness. It's a giant increase from the pricing in 1998 (even with some inflation and added costs due to Euro introduction) which has no real justification.
It's more like 50 euro (which is more than 100 dutch guilders) would be better and more in line with the changing times.

In the US the tickets went from a ceiling of $45 for the JOTY in 1998 to the current $125 so I would expect it to be the same in Europe.

i know that many fams in europe aren´t able to pay that high price.
years before we had a different situation.
NO Euro!
if you traveled to europe before and after "Euro" you will understand what i mean!
you can´t compare the situation 1998 with today.

we are waiting a long time for him to see again!
i pray that he will not destroy my hope!

That would REALLY suck! Pure greed. No justification.

Why is it greedy to charge European's this much money, but not Americans?

Because americans are ALL loaded due to their very strong Dollar and countries UGE economic success. All Europeans live in tin huts and bartered chickens and grain before we were forced to take on the Euro!

I didn't say that. It's just in general that asking too much is bad.
In don't know what you are used to w.r.t. ticket prices but 100+ Euro per ticket would stand out here, in a negative way.

Prince's ticket prices are too high and it's as simple as that. This is why during the celebration when he tried to move a couple of the shows to the orpheum nobody bought tickets. I heard he sold less then 500 tickets (and this is in his hometown)

But the one sure way to get him to lower his ticket prices is to boycott his shows. But so far people have been unwilling to do this (Instead choosing to go into debt) so of course Prince will continue to charge people as much as he can.

I agree with you.
So maybe slow sales during this upcoming leg of the tour will give an indication?

prince can kiss my ass for 125 euro. man, i ain't paying more than 35 euro! that's the amount you have to pay to see alicia keys nowadays, and she is hot. prince is not that big of a star anymore so why should he ask more. i doubt he will sell enough tickets to fill rotterdam's ahoy stadium with a price higher than 35 euro. well, we'll see, won't we.

let´s face it:

Prince can & eye think he will ask HIGH prices:
- fans R gonna pay anywayz;
- it´s gonna B a Hot ticket, cuz he hasn´t been 2 Europe 4 a few years now.

BTW: Andrea Bocelli is asking 135 Euros 4 the best seats in the Ahoy.

are you kiddin' me? jeez, that's a lot of money! but IF prince asks this kind of money for his european shows i'd still have to pass and NOT watch the show. not that i don't want to see prince live. i became a fan after the 'new power soul' album and tour, so i haven't had the opportunity to see him in person (yet). i just won't pay the 125 euro, it's too much. when prince comes to holland and asks that price for one ticket, i will know he's a giant asshole just like bocelli, cause they don't HAVE to play for that amount. they COULD go much lower than that and give the i'm-only-able-to-spend-35-euro-fans a chance to go see their 'idol'. but hey, prince is the boss, so..

eye agree purple one: it´s alot of Moolah! hrmph

As U know: most prices in Europe went sky high after the introduction of the Euro.
No doubt then that touring Europe could B very Xpensive.
Another important thing is that Prince does not have a record company (or sponsor) 2 back him up financially.

Whateva the price 4 a P-concert will B, eye am gonna pay it anywayz.

Eye´ve just got 2 have my Prince LIVE fix...

Hmmm...

*IF* the dates circulating are real and he actually plans to play the Ahoy in Rotterdam:

The show at the Ahoy in august 1998 sold well even though everyone was on holiday, abroad, away, etc, etc. The 2nd show (in Utrecht) sold less well.
So +/- 10.000 people are his core fanbase in the Netherlands?
Four years have passed since 1998 without a real hit, no real media exposure, etc, etc.
Will he be able to fill Ahoy in 2002?
Will he be able to fill Ahoy at the steep prices we fear?

I'm not so very sure but think that with some time (perhaps a few months) for the presales things should work out OK even though the prices are high.

What do you all think?
Maybe you can comment on this?
