Let me start by saying I'm a HUGE Prince fan. I saw him 5 times on the Musicology tour and twicw since then. My wife and I came back from the 3121 show Saturday night feeling a little jipped. The length of the show was not long enough in comparison to the price of the ticket. Dont get me wrong. I'm not cheap. But if I pay the kind of money this show cost, I expect a FULL show of Prince.

Instead I got two Sheila E songs (which were good) but I didn't pay to see her. I got two songs from the chick he now has in his band, I heard from other reviewers that she doesn;t scream like most big black women singers. But all I heard was one dynamic level in her vocals. I certainly didn't pay to hear her sing two songs.

And lastly, I already saw Tamar and Prince in Houston at the Warehouse and she sang the same song last night. She's an awesome talent...but again...I didn't pay a ton of money to see her.

That's 5 songs out of a very limited set list in which Prince was either not present or singing some small back up harmonies....that's not good enough for what I've come to expect from him and his concerts.

What he did perform was wonderful. Just not enough. Bottom line...I didnt get my money's worth. And Lord knows I'll pat top dollar to see Prince in a real show like Musicology.

Word to Prince...my brother...please leave Vegas and get back to doing shows that actually go beyond 90 minutes. We already get screwed by the Casinos here.

Sorry so negative. But it's my true take on this show.

This was my second time in Vegas and I felt like Saturday's night show had much more energy than the show I saw in February. However, my dinner experience was much better the first time around. Service was slow, and a fellow fan struggled to have her vegan needs met. Overall, though, I felt that I paid for an experience and that's what I got. For me, an experience includes seeing Prince in a small venue, staying up to wee hours in the morning to listen to incredible music, meeting friendly, funny, positive fans and enjoying the lights and sounds of Vegas. I'll try to give more details on the show and aftershows once I catch up on sleep...

Racist and stupid. I don't know why people on this board have decided that black woman singers scream. Now we have a lot of young woman RnB singers out today who flat out cannot sing they spend more time talking or trying to rap but, you got a lot of old school RnB chicks who can flat out sing.

As far as the length of the casino show. If you have been checking this board and following Prince you should know these Rio shows are hit or miss. This is not an arena concert. I am not sure way anyone would spend the money to go out to Vegas and expect a Musicology like show. One of the reason I am not going ou out to Vegas.

Can't quite understand how come people come here to post their reviews of a show but don't seem to have bothered to visit here first and read old reviews before attending the show to see what they can expect for their money. Because what you describe is pretty much par-for-the-course for much of Prince's Vegas gigs. I'm not saying what you are saying isn't right, but it is what you can expect from Prince right now.

Fri and Sat night concerts were fantastic. Sat was nicer than Fri, his opening was insatiable, he was very friendly and asked if we liked the atmosphere. Every seat was a great seat, not very very crowded. Toward the beginning of Friday night show a security was asking a fellow to bring down his phone, when Prince picked up the phone - and sang into the phone, then tossed it back to the guy. It was amazing. Very upclose and personal. I can't deny that Prince is worth every cent.

He played from 12:30-2:30am correct?

I think you got too used to Musicology...seeing him 5x on the same tour?? I've seen numerous different types of Prince shows - Musicology, Hit n Run, House of Blues aftershows, One Nite Alone, etc. 3121 is just another type of Prince show. We didn't feel cheated at all! I find that more fans than not are thrilled when Shiela E shows up cool

Saturday was unbelievable!!! Not sure what happened with adding the April dates, after all the March ending speculation, but to me this really felt like it was supposed to be the finale! This was my 3rd visit to 3121 and Prince was in GREAT form, happy, funny, and very interactive. He was really enjoying himself and loving that so many friends family and celebrities were in the house. The band was tight and ready for a tour! Can't really remember the exact set, but Kiss, Cashmere, Satisfied, Lolita, Black Sweat, Purple Rain, Girls sand Boys are a few. Tamar, Shelby and Sheila E. (her dad and bro) were also in the house, and they were all really great! The energy was amazing...all in all a fantastic time. So far I have paid 125.00 and now 250.00 this last time and really - I think it has been worth every cent! Yes, sometimes this whole Las Vegas thing has been frustrating, sometimes annoying, but I am still going to try to back in April....

Whew!!!!! Just got back from V-town. I had a wonderful time at the Saturday night Prince concert. It was so cool to have Sheila, her dad, and brother open the show. Sheila still looks great. She's so petite. I also didn't realize how tiny The Twins are. How does P keep finding chicks smaller than him?

I loved how small the venue was. This was the first time that I got close enought to touch Prince. The only problem is that I didn't listen to the Org. Someone posted that P goes to the left of the stage most, but I met some chick there who had attended Friday's show and she told me to go the right of the stage. Of course Prince spent most of his time on the left side of the stage and I had the extreme displeasure of having Shelby's fat knees in my face most of the night. lol I also had to deal with drunk bitches trying to push in front of me. I'm 6 ft and 180 pounds. Why the fuck are little bitty women trying to push past me????? I had to finally tell one drunk chick that I was going to knock her straight the fuck out. Security finally took her out when her silly drunk ass took a picture.

All in all, it was a great show and I had a great time. Was it as good as the musicology tour...No. But did I feel gyped? Hell no!!!!! I've never seen the man that close before. It was my sister's first time seeing him live and she had a blast.

Oh, one thing I forgot to say.....You can see the big ass P symbol on the Rio from the plane as you're flying in. That is the coolest shit ever. I knew that it was large, but I didn't realize that you could see it from the plane. I let out a big "oowah" when I saw that shit and everybody started laughing. lol

I agree with illimack on the drunk people...not surprised though due to the fact that this venue is in a freakin casino where u can drink ur heart out until those 3121 doors open. Then, once they're open, u can drink even more!!! When leaving after the show, I had the great pleasure of putting my hand into someone's huge pile of puke which they so graciously left right on the exit door's handle mad Ahhhh Vegas....gotta love it.

On another note, we found most everyone that worked at 3121 to be very nice. Our bartender, Elton, took good care of us all night. Those 3 bartenders where doin lots of crazy moves from "Cocktail" when Prince was singing "Let's Go Crazy" lol They said that working 3121 was the best job in town cool

This is the review that I posted on our The Time website that I moderate. I'd loved to hear from you!!

Ok here's my night!

First of all we left San Diego Saturday and boarded my bosses plane around 11:00 am, he has a Piper 6 seat aircraft. The ride included myself, my husband Randy, Robert (my boss and pilot) and his girlfriend Kelly. The flight took us approximately an hour and 20 mins. He decided to fly into the N. Las Vegas airport since the traditional McCarron now charges an arm and a leg to park your plane overnight...I think he said over a $100 a night where this airport charges less than $10 per night. Expensive hobby I might add. But he's an excellent pilot. I have been flying with him for over 17 years now for business and several personal trips with my husband. Nice to have a private pilot around when you need one:) Well, the flight was beautiful, the day was clear not a cloud in site. We landed in Vegas around 12:30. We get out of the plane and settled into the executive airport and they arrange a shuttle to pick us up to take us to our hotels.

Ok, this is where the drama started. We are all in the shuttle and another Pilot and his wife are sharing this shuttle as well. They needed to be dropped off at some hotel not even in the city of Las Vegas, they were to be dropped off last. We get to the Aladdin where Robert and Kelly were staying and dropped them off. We pull away and are now near the Excalibur where Randy and I were staying. Something told me to ask my husband if he had his wallet. As soon as I said the word "wallet", the look on my husband's face said everything! He had left his wallet in Robert's plane which is literally 40 miles away. I immediately called Robert's cell phone, so I could get the keys to his plane and have the shuttle guy take us back to the airport and pick up the keys. So I dial his number, all of a sudden I hear Robert's cell in the back seat where he and Kelly were sitting. He forgot his phone. Remember, I said there was another Pilot and his wife that we're in the shuttle with us. So I asked them if they would mind if the shuttle took us back to the Aladdin so I can pick up the keys from Robert. The wife instantly looked at here watch, and her husband immediately said NO PROBLEM. OK! I call the Aladdin, get a hold of Robert's room, tell him I need the keys please come down and meet me by the taxi drop off and I have his phone. We get to the Aladdin, no Robert. I waited for a few minutes, and decided to call his room again, he answers, I ask him why are you not downstairs, he says he misunderstood me and thought I was to call when I got to the hotel. I think he thought he could get a quickie in before I got there. Any ways, I get his keys and I swear I thought I was going to pull his arm out of his socket...he was so nervous about me taking those keys. If I would have lost them we would have been screwed with not being able to get into his plane to go home. I promised him I would keep them safe. This whole process took maybe 15 mins. By the time I get back into the shuttle, I hear my husband (who is not afraid to tell anyone what's on his mind) say something to the affect...simmer down bitch, I said I was sorry! Oh my God, my husband is now in a verbal confrontation with this other pilot and his snoody wife (older couple). She apparently did not want to wait for me to run in and get the keys and bitched out loud the whole time I was gone, that it pissed my husband off to this extent. I immediately turned to her and apologized and asked her to have some patience, it was an honestly mistake and I would hope that if this had happened to them, that they would have an understanding party who would return the favor. So, silence! We get to their hotel, which I am not lying took us nearly 30 mins to get to...apparently when they got closer, the Pilot said shit! I should of flown into Henderson's airport...I flew into the wrong airport. Well that just fueled Randy who was biting his tongue the whole ride for me and when the door open to let them out...well, lets just say, Randy and the bitchy lady were still yelling at each other even when the door was shut the shuttle driver. I wanted to die!!!!! We get back to the airport now it's 3:30, yes that whole episode took nearly 2 and half hours. I run on the airports parking structure where the plane is parked and unlock the door and find my husband's wallet under his seat. I run back to the front where the shuttle is patiently awaiting for me, and we take off AGAIN to head to our hotel. We get to our hotel around 4:15 check in and no lie, I immediately ordered a bottle up to our room...we were in need of a drink! By the way...I did remember Robert's keys:)

So since this all took place, I now did not have the time to check out the Rio's set up with will call and all of that stuff, so we just relaxed for a while, ordered room service and got ready to head to The Rio around 8pm. We get to the Rio around 8:15 and there were around 15-20 people in the VIP line where we were told to go to since we had purchased the VIP table for an additional $375 between the four of us which also gave us a bottle of liquor and table service. Robert and Kelly show up within 10 mins after that, and no lie, we were approached by a staff member, they asked us our names, we told them, they said come with me, put wrist bands on us and took us right in and brought us to our table.

OK...here we go. Johnny who escorted in took us to our table and pointed out that next to our table was Prince's private couch where he and his friends will be. I look at Randy, Randy looks at me, Kelly looks at Robert, Robert looks at Kelly, and we all could not wipe off the smiles from our faces. I tipped Johnny $20 bucks and he said anything you need just ask. We asked if we could leave the venue and return he said no problem, Prince should be out around midnight. We left and played blackjack, which I must tell you was $25 a hand at The Rio, I was not too thrilled about the thought of dropping several hundred dollars while waiting for Prince to perform since we already dropped a grand to go to this performance. But we sat down anyway and played. We actually did fairly well, and after hour or so, we decided to got into the venue and start our table service. We ordered a bottle of Belvedere and mixers and started to get our buzz on. No one was at his couch as of yet, DJ Rashida was cutting it up, people where trickling in and we were having a great time. She was playing Cool, Get It Up, lots of old school and we were all feeling great.

This is were things may be a little fuzzy! It's nearing midnight or so and the show is starting, Prince comes out and everyone is going crazy. Sheila E and her father walk right passed me and I stopped her and asked her if she will be performing and she smiled and said you're in for a treat! She and her dad take stage, we're all going crazy. I don't remember any order of songs or any thing....I'm actually trying to remember if I remember what Prince sang...hopefully someone will post an accurate setlist to refresh my memory. Somewhere within 20 mins or so, Jerome and Terry Lewis are walking towards us and we immediately hugged and I reintroduced Jerome to Robert and his girlfriend. Robert met Jerome once before when I took him to a Time show and he's talked with Jerome via my phone when Jerome and I were eating breakfast in Vegas a few years back. Jerome then gave my husband a great big family hug and I looked at Terry and said with is fine self...HHEELLLOOO KKIIIMMBBEERRRLLYY! That was a treat. (Jerome introduced me to Terry 2 years ago when I saw The Time perform in Malibu and Terry was on stage with them and Prince sat 2 feet from me. Terry and Jerome brought me over to his mom and sister and we all sat and talked and looked back when we first all met which was somewhere around 10+ years.) That was also a great show!! Anyway, we were all very excited at this point, because now Jerome was with us and everyone that was in the VIP section was wanting to near us and our table. Jerome then went on stage for a bit and then came back off and eventually came back over to us and talked with Robert and was telling him how special I was and that I also worked for him...ok my boss looks at me and I pinch Jerome and tell him to shush. This is all relating to me helping Jerome with several things with The Family and The Time and some personal thangs...So they have a great conversation, I'm being talked up, my boss is complimenting me, Jerome is loving me, Terry his smiling at me, I have no idea where my husband is but I AM FELLING MARVELOUS!!!!!

Ok, Prince is now done...as I said I don't remember much of him perfoming, because of all the talking and drinking. This beautiful girl named Miriam comes up to me and says, can you introduce me to Jerome and Terry, so the nice person I am and the fact that she was a Selma Hayek double just more petite, I do. We wound up talking with Jerome for a while and Robert and Kelly barely stumble up to me and said they need to go back, Robert obvisously needed to sleep off that Vodka so he can fly the next day, they hand me $100 bill and tell me oh yah...Randy left as well, he was shit faced and took a cab back. I somehow missed him and he never told me he was leaving! So now, me and Miriam are alone with Jerome and Terry and the mention of the aftershow comes up. Jerome said, go around the corner and I call me when you are at the door and he and Terry left through the VIP section where the performers were and we headed out! I get to the aftershow doors and they are so many people waiting in line. I go to get my phone (which I must add is literally 5 days old and I just bought a chip so I could transfer my music from my computer to it) and I have NO phone. I lost my f_ _ _ _ _ _ phone. I could not call Jerome because I don't have his number memorized. I'm dying now. Miriam says "don't worry" Prince asked me to come to this performance tonite, his attorney Trevor knows me. OK, so now what. She calls this Trevor person, which I'm still having trouble understanding her and Prince's relationship. And he too is not answering. Somehow and this is exactly how it happened. I grabbed her hand and walked through the other door where there was no bouncer standing at and let myself and her in. NOONE stopped us! I had no idea as to where we were and where the aftershow was at, but something to me to open this other door, and I did, well it was the back entrance through the kitchen and we walked in and through the kitchen...and guess who the first person I see...Jerome. We always seem to connect this way. Jerome sits me in this seat that is literally the last seat in the back of the jazz restaurant and Prince is walking back and forth in and out of this room where the perfomers are all seated and he performs a little and walks off a little and so on. Miriam is sitting on the arm of my chair. I see my original waitress Chanel that took care of us at the VIP table and ask her for 2 extra dirty martinis and ask Jerome if he wanted anything and he looks at me and we both said at the same time "Cadillac Margarita" and high fived each other and started laughing. Well at that time, it appeared that Prince was looking right at us and I looked at Miriam to get her attention. Well not even 5 minutes later, a bouncer and a female with a walkie talkie come up to us...I thought I was gonna die, they said Ms. Prince's attorney Trevor has asked that you leave this establishment and you (meaning ME) can stay! Jerome shrugged his shoulders and held me back and said just let her go. Miriam got up and was escorted out. I honestly don't know what the hell that was about, but I was freaked out that Prince was paying that much attention to people in the back of his restaurant. Jerome left for a bit and his drink came. I was feeling a little weird by myself now thinking about my husband bailing on me that I got up with Jerome's drink about a half hour later and asked Otis one of Prince's musicians (can't remember what he plays...things are a fog), to give this drink to Jerome, I was going to leave. I thought it was wise since I was by myself, female and still had to catch a cab to get back to the Excalibur so I can bitch my husband out. As I was leaving, I heard someone say thank you for coming to 3121 I hope you enjoyed the show. So it was over at that same time anyway. I found my way to the front of the hotel where the cabs were and I saw Miriam, she waited with me for my cab and said she was confused why she was treated that way....I don't know....but something was weird about that whole thing with Prince.

I gave her a hug, thanked her for the company and got into my cab and was driven to the Excalibur, walking into my room just before 5 am. My husband jumps up and gives me a hug and asked where I was all this time, he was calling and calling my cell (I told him about losing it) he said Kim. I was tore up and didn't want anyone to catch any of it so I left. Sorry! I kissed him, said no problem and somehow got out of my dress, kicked off the pumps and hit the bed. What a night...even losing my phone, which by the way houses all of my contacts....including the fellas from The Time and my peeps. So whoever found that phone, not only has rare songs from Prince, etc on it, will see Jerome Benton, Jellybean Johnson, The Family contacts. I am so bummed! Hopefully they won't scolled to to the contact and willjust erase everything. I have my phone bills so I can recover all of their numbers, but any of you that know I have your numbers, please forward them to me again. I will have my replacement phone tomorrow and will try to start filling it up again over time.

I loved it. 3121 was a breeze to deal with. I had no problems, didn't experience 1 staff person being rude or anything. I would do it again in a heartbeat even at a grand. So I hear that might not of been his last 3121 performance...hmmmm. Another trip so soon:) We'll see!

Thanks and good night....Kimberly Martinez

This is were things may be a little fuzzy! It's nearing midnight or so and the show is starting, Prince comes out and everyone is going crazy. I don't remember any order of songs or any thing....I'm actually trying to remember if I remember what Prince sang . . . .

Ok, Prince is now done...as I said I don't remember much of him performing, because of all the talking and drinking. . . .

Mention of the aftershow comes up. Miriam says "don't worry" Prince asked me to come to this performance tonite, his attorney Trevor knows me. . . .

Prince was looking right at us and I looked at Miriam to get her attention. Well not even 5 minutes later, a bouncer and a female with a walkie talkie come up to us...I thought I was gonna die, they said Ms. Prince's attorney Trevor has asked that you leave this establishment and you (meaning ME) can stay!

I . . . got up with Jerome's drink about a half hour later and asked Otis one of Prince's musicians (can't remember what he plays...things are a fog), to give this drink to Jerome, I was going to leave.

I found my way to the front of the hotel where the cabs were and I saw Miriam, she waited with me for my cab and said she was confused why she was treated that way....I don't know....but something was weird about that whole thing with Prince.

Trevor is Prince's attorney?! Like many others, I'm embarrassed that I've been fooled by that "bodyguard" schtick Trevor's pulled all these years. omg

And, I'll have to apologize to Otis the next time I see him. All this time, I thought he was merely the guitar tech. I've been so mesmerized by the Twinz that I didn't realize that half the blazing guitar solos I heard were Otis, not Prince!omfg

Miriam? I'm guessing this would be her picture: nuts

And what about the upholstery in the plane? You never said what color the seats were! Otherwise, what's the point of posting a concert review? lol

Not sure how you took my review..but it sounds like you are little sarcastic:( Look we had a great time even with the drama that took place. I've seen Prince many times, I've never been good with remembering setlists, etc. We were there to spend time with our friends and to be in the whole Prince atmosphere. I'm glad YOU know who Trevor and Otis were...as I said, I wasn't sure. Sounds like Trevor screwed with that Miriam chick as well, too bad for her:( As far as the upholstery, well the plane was built in the 70's and I believe it's original smile

come visit me at www.myspace.com/kmrtnz69 I loved to have you as my friend:)

Like I said I remember dancing to Girls and Boys, I believe Pink Cashmere, I know in between our conversation with Jerome Purple Rain played, Lolita for sure. I am really sorry, but I've never been good with remembering setlists, this was was of the first times I actually was just having fun with our friends and the fellas...this is usually why I don't even post on our The Time's website that I moderate because they are more personal experiences and I don't go for just the show but to be there more for our relationships that we've built over the years. Thanks...Kimberly smile

Yes...it was really an incredible two days! I was at both shows and they blew me away, although I wasn't blessed enough to be able to join the after jams, there were too many guests. Friday night I did general admission and on the Saturday I joined three really cool new friends at a VIP table and what they say is true...it doesn't matter where you are in that place the experience is complete and utter bliss! I had just as much fun down on the floor as I did at my table. The positive energy coming from the crowds and musicians/Prince on both days was overwhelming...the energy was sooo thick someone in P's camp could have bottled it, to sell it in the boutique as the new drug of choice... wink

While I sat at my table on Saturday with a better view of the crowd just looking at all the people....and believe me when I say...there were A LOT OF PEOPLE!!.... there was no mistaking the joy on their faces...EVERYONE...young and old were smiling, laughing, singing along, and dancing!

Saturdays rendition of Purple Rain....particularly his guitar solo brought on such emotions to me that I had tears welling up....and I'm absolutely positive that I wasn't the only one....

Prince put on two VERY beautiful, sensual shows both nights but especially on Saturday...sure took me back a few years... razz

Prince, I pray that you weren't hurt too badly when you fell....you know how the pain can creep up a day or two later? I was scared for you the instant you went down but extremely relieved when you got right back up a second later...you didn't miss a beat! cool

Sounds like you had a blast. I would not pay too much attention to some of the orgers. Put a link up to your Time board.
