from HQ

Tonight's show was scheduled to be the penultimate performance @ 3121. As a result the club was packed with fans, family, celebrities and former bandmates.

The curtains rose to A Love Bizarre, performed by Sheila E, backed by Shelby and the Twinz. Prince joined them mid-song and the house, already rockin, heated up and did not cool down. This show was hot..

Not only was Sheila there to set things off but throughout the evening Candy Dufler and Chance Howard joined in.

I don't know what Shelby's plans are after 3121, but I hope they include a new CD. Shelby sang "Crazy," and "It's Over," (which is my favorite Nancy Wilson song). Shelby's a versatile and polished performer with an interesting repetoire. I wouldn't be surprised to hear her sing the phonebook and make folks want to listen.

After singing A Love Bizarre, Prince surprised us all with "The Long and Winding Road" Paul McCartney's version will make you leave a light in the window and sip a cup a tea while you wait. Prince's version will make you leave a light in the window, turn down the blankets and open a bottle of wine... for two.

He had "too many hits" but he managed to perform a few, including Musicology, Boys n Girls, Shhh, Pink Cashmere, Satisfied, Lolita, Kiss, etc.
(I don't do set lists).

At this stage of their performing together its almost impossible to find fault with any Prince band.. However, the dissonant chords of 3121 were a lil bit off / shrill tonight. This was probably due to the newness of the new horn player who, other than that, was pretty good.

I wasn't able to make it into the aftershow. Hopefully someone who did will post a review.

CONGRATULATIONS to Housequake... He managed to sit front and center at Candy's show, later he danced with her onstage @ 3121. Last I saw he was floating on cloud nine out of the Rio Casino...

Tamar was there - we sat beween her and Sheila E and Sheila's Dad (and I think daughters???). There were alot of really neat folks in the band room: Mosaic (the group) who sang a couple of songs and were a tun of fun to talk to and laugh with! There was the whole band including the blonde sax player lady, I swear a lady with a shaved head who looked exactly like Shinead O'connor whose date was a tall brunet who looked strikingly like a young Barbara Streisand!LOL! There was an "odd" long-haired hispanic guy who did the long hair head bang right up front. The twins (dancers/singers) were sitting with Tamar. THere was also a blonde girl (really platinum colored shoulder length hair) that hung with the twins and Tamar for awhile who had an entire entourage of her own (very young - looked like id 20's).

Some guy that looked like Will-I-am from black eyed peas (but really tall - like 6'5") got alot of attention and so did some athletic looking young man (dark skinned) with alot of gold chains whho hung with the huge fat guy that sang withh Prince during the concert.

Everyone jammed until 5am non-stop! Sheila played drums once, Prince was having a blast. The room was only half full until after 4 (when they let in more people). For the first 2 hours there were just 6 of us that weren't friends or family in a pretty empty room.

I am not a Prince fan and don't follow much music so I don't know alot of the people in the room but the jamming was great and Prince was a gentleman - very courteous and sweet (except he kept bumping into me)!LOL! I am only posting this for my wife - who likes Prince very much but hates typing!

I bought my wife a white "Prince guitar" and a sharpee and could have had everyone sign it (it was offered) but it really seemed like all the musicians were having such a great time hanging out, talking and playing that to do so would be an "interruption" of their time together.

At the concert, we sat down left at the closest table to the stage, and the concert was good (I of course only knew 3 songs the whole time - but my wife loved them all). Prince sang on the box 2 or 3 times and walked around greeting people. But the after-thing was much better - Prince and Sheila sat right on top of us talking and I could have literally leaned over and kissed them!LOL! I was most impressed with how much fun they were all having and how stunningly beautiful Sheila still is!

Your review was right on point. This was my 10th time seeing Prince and it was awesome...He was within 8 feet of me during his first song, "A Love Bizarre"!!! The aftershow was incredible and lasted until five in the morning. Anyone who loves Prince, make it your business to get to Vegas....And get the VIP package...The food was delicious and the service was first class... The champagne during the show didn't hurt either!!!!!

He has got to record "The Long and Winding Road"...Incredible!!!!!
