I'm considering going this weekend but the dang hotel rates at the Rio are killing me. I stayed at the Rio and it so convenient to be at the hotel where the club is. I feel like booking a room and posting a thread that says, "come one, come all! let's split the cost and a show won't be lost!"

Try the Gold Coast which is right behind The Rio, their rates were reasonable and it's within walking distance (unless you'd be walking alone).

Yes I know what you mean. . . I called them to find out the deal and they said there's a huge convention the last 2 weeks which explains the $400/night price. I paid less than that for 2 nights this past weekend. I'm sorry, but Rio is one of the shabbier big hotels in Vegas and they've got their nerve charging $400/night. But hey, if they can get people to pay it why not. Just won't be me.

The last time I went to 3121, I had a reservation at The Rio. When I arrived I was told that they 'over booked' the hotel and they moved me to The Monte Carlo and paid for my stay. I wasn't too upset at the time but I chose The Rio simply because it would have been easier to stay their and attend the show. So, I'm not sure if I'll ever stay at The Rio now. In fact, I'm staying at The Tropicana on 4/27 because The Rio is just way too expensive for a single night stay.

I personally have a problem with the cigarette smoke in the Rio and all casinos because it aggravates my asthma and allergies. In fact I'm still coughing and sneezing from this weekend.
I really like staying at Marriott properties because they are all smoke free. I stayed at the Marriott Rennaissance on New Year's Eve and it was wonderful. No casino (I don't gamble) and no smoke. It's more of a modern, sleek boutique hotel and the rate for that weekend is $212/night but I would keep checking cuz the rate may go down. I LOVE this hotel because it's not a zoo like most casinos, the lobby is actually really quiet.

I live in the Uk and i was always led to beleive that hotel rooms in vegas were really cheap as to attract visitors to gamble. I guess this is no the case from the reports i read

You know, I made that same statement last year when he gave the show at the Empire Club in Vegas and another member said to me, "What's to figure out...just go!". Today I am so happy I listened to that advice, those shows along with the soundchecks were an unforgettable experience. So I say, go and have a great time! [Edited 4/14/07 7:57am]

I just don't like the 5 1/2 to 6 hour plane ride from NY to get there. The only part I really don't like is going over the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon, not to mention the turbulence. But so far I've gone to Vegas 3 times already, so now I'm used to it. You just have to find a hotel that's economical for you. Try the Gold Coast hotel, it's right across the street from the Rio, or try a hotel that's at least within 2 miles off the strip from the Rio.. [Edited 4/15/07 8:52am]
