March 16th Report

show last night was short but great. Prince opened with a Cars tune I Love the Nightlife. Incredible. I am not good with setlists but let me say it was similar to what was reported.

Aftershow was cool. Nice vibe while waiting. The band opened with an incredible version of The World is a Ghetto. I was sitting stage right when Prince walked in. It is true. You could feel his presence. Highlight was prince on keys doing Stevie then seamlessly going into some Sly Sone. I don't want to hear another music teacher preach about classiacal composers or hear an old school head wax on about Miles, Monk, ect. Prince is the man. No other of ANY era puts it down like him.

The one downside was the Vegas drunkards. At the main show Prince hands some guy his bass guitar and the fool actually thought he could keep it like a foul ball at Yankee Stadiuam. At the aftershow, people need to BTFU. How close do they want to get? I think they should move the talbles was the jamming starts like an ole fashioned house part. That would give us some more room. At the Ny aftershows I have attended, people were less star struck.
since Run & Them were saying "Here we go"

Thanks for the info, There's nothing in the world like a Prince experience. The drunks were a problem when I went to Vegas too. sad I met Prince at the Empire Ballroom in May and I agree the man has a very powerful aura.

Did he play Guitar or the new song Somewhere Here On Earth? I'd love to hear those. I'm itching for something new and I can't wait to see him again.

I'm glad you had fun. cool

thanks for the report!

Guess I was lucky, the crowd at the aftershow I made it into- Jan20th- was very respectful. I was actually amazed by how well everyone behaved, lol lol !

Oh, the aura!!!! worship you really can feel him walk into that room- of course it is so small which helps! I still pinch myself, can't believe I was really that close....
Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

I see the aftershow opened with The World Is A Ghetto, I love that song!

To this day I have not forgiven Prince for booking WAR at 3121 with almost no notice. sad

I was there last night...GREAT GREAT show...short, but great. Very tight! I'll write more later, but for now, here's the setlist and a few random observations:

View As Web Page

Let's Go (Cars cover!!!) - this was amazing!!
Get On The Boat

Prince is in a great fukin mood!!!!
Brought some lady on stage to dance...she was doing her thing - Prince says "How many beers you had tonite grandma?" haaaaa!

Lolita
Blak sweat (in full falsetto - subbed Paris Hilton for "white lady" part)
Kiss
Shhhh

Dude is feeeeeling it tonite

Musicology

House packed...great energy

Sing a simple song

Play that funky music

Roller coaster

Purple house
Shelby vocal (song don't know)
Renato instr...costume change....What a wonderful world
Shelby vocal....
Slow jam unknown - Prince & Shelby on vox. Song was dope!
Cream
U Got the Look
Purple Rain - sort of rushed...Prince is obviously booorrrred...but the crowd is loving it and feeling it...singing...but faster drum track.feels rushed...sounded like he cut it short...

Encore 1:
Nothing compares 2 U

That's what I wrote last night on my pda during the show...will post more details later.
(I didn't make it to the aftershow - tooooo many effin ppl in line!)

It was a nice show... Too short, though... Just about an hour

. One of the songs missing from the set list posted above was the Beatles' tune, "The Long and Winding Road." It was phenomenal. Prince belted it out and made it his own. Definitely a highlight. But, damn, the show was too short.

I went to this show. Prince was amazing! BUT some people were drinking WAY too much and ruined the show for me. A random drunk jerk decided it was OK to shove a girl with all his might. They did not know each other but he felt her taking one step forward to get a better view of Prince was too much for him to handle. (And his drunk wife allowed this). What is even worse is that other people watched this happen and did nothing. Allowing this guy to continue and berate the girl. I am now quite disappointed with 'human kind'.

Makes me think twice about seeing Prince at the RIO...

Yeah I went to this show that night and was totally amazed! It was my 1st Prince concert and I loved every minute of it! I have been a fan since Purple Rain came out and I was 6years old! I remember I wanted a Purple Rain shirt but my parents wouldn't get me one! sad I had to sneak around just to hear his music! hahaha After the March 16th concert my friend and I snuck into the after party at the 3121 Jazz Restaurant! Dang I was sneaking around back then and I'm still sneaking around now! smile ~Nikki
