I'm not sure if that's the case because he raised the prices during All-Star weekend to $312 and ended up having to reduce it a few days later because they didn't sell. So I think he's trying to get his money and run. confused

I was told that the club barely broke even and the restaurant lost tons of money because most regular people (re: non-orgers) didn't know he was associated with the restaurant due to bad/lack of marketing.

Well, I don't think we'll every really know the reason for the price increase, but after the Superbowl he pretty much has been in high demand, especially now that people are finding out that March may be his last run in Vegas...or so the story goes because you just never know with Prince.

that really is totally uncool though. Demand? Great, keep the VIP tix then, but you should always have something affordable for those without bankrolls.

Has anyone tried going through the Rio box office directly? They are still advertising 125.00 tickets both on their website and on the recorded phone message when you select the option for 3121. I would think they would have to honor that price (false advertising). I actually tried to call, but coulden't spend the time waiting. We have our tickets (thankfully) but for those of you on a budget like me.....I would feel bad if you coulden't go because of the price increase, and that would have been us for sure if we had waited!

Today I've bought tickets with some friends. We are from The Netherlands and we are sick of waiting for Prince to come to Europe.

We've paid $250 a ticket and another six hundred somewhat euro's confused for the flight. It's going to be a flash visit, arriving on friday and leaving on sunday. Hope it's worth the money...

Cheers, wink

May U live 2 see the dawn.

If the VIP Dinner package price hasn't changed, that would be the way to go. Has anyone asked the Rio about this today?

I think he's an ass for doing this! I'm glad I went NYE-weekend and got a half-priced ticket at least for one night.....bought at the strip on the day of the show on the 30th!

That said, have fun y'all.....I'm sorry that he's putting you through such a headache!

Yeah, not cool at all. I saved since November, sold tons of shit on ebay & HQ, and with my tax refund I was just going to be able to do it--I was holding off buying my plane ticket til today (b/c they are always cheaper on Weds.) and now because ticket prices have doubled in the last few days I can no longer afford it. I called the hotel this evening and canceled my reservations. bawl (ANd I had two weekends reserved so that I could pick the least expensive one.)

He betta go on tour and I want aftershows cause if I have to pay $250 for a seat at Madison Square Garden with a bunch of riff raff I'm gonna be mad. I'm still get depressed when I think about how I wasn't able to get a ticket to the Butter show last February.

I'm trying to convince myself that this is a sign/it wasn't meant to be, but I'm having a hard time buying my argument. lol

The Butter show was actually last June when he performed for about 4 hours 20 minutes;I believe the show started at 11:40pm and ended at 4:05 am in the morning, I was there, it was awesome, sorry you didn't get in, but you never know what Prince has up his sleeve. BUTTER is a very small club, living room space I guess you can say, probably no bigger than the music room at the Jazz Cuisine that everyone is talking about. Maybe he'll do it again sometime in the future and you'll be able to attend. Lawd knows the East Coasters have been giving him much support for a long time, even travelling to Vegas to see him. Maybe he'll decide to bring his club to NYC or better yet--Atlantic City(<--not a bad idea wink) for a while, just like his Vegas gig, even if it's just for 2 or 3 months. Good thing about Club 3121 is that he could take Club 3121 anywhere and settle for a while, East Coast, West Coast, Overseas, wherever he likes. I'm sure you'll get to see him though if he tours and comes to NYC.

doh! yes, I knew it was in June (after GMA). I know how big Butter is---I ate there when it was Belgo (before Butter). I know I'll see him, it's just frustrating to plan for months and then have it fall through. If tickets would have been sold/advertised as $250 from the beginning it's one thing, but to do it in the middle of the last sale is super annoying.

I have a feeling it's gonna be cut throat out there anyway...all the purple hippies have been saving for this, everyone knows it the last month, they know the aftershow tricks, etc. so it would be a big fan fight to get in line first, to get to the front, to get in the aftershow (if there is one). I don't like to play those games...

Thanks. I doubt Prince would care that much; not saying he's that cold, but really, I'm just one person who can't go, there are thousands that can. And I did get to see him last year at Nokia & GMA for $31.21 & free, respectively. On the plus side, now the money is in my savings account earning 5% interest. smile Maybe I'll buy a turntable like I've been wanting for years so I can listen to my Sexy Dancer (extended version) on vinyl! dancing jig

Ticketmassa<- lol.. - $250 plus $21.00 convenience charge = $276.00 per ticket. 2 tickets would cost you $552.00 to see 2 shows.

Another thing, I somehow think the reason for the quick upgrade in the ticket prices, (now this is just my speculation) was to avoid the scalpers from scooping up the $125.00 tickets and selling them for $250 and $300.00+, as ticketmassa allows you to purchase 8 tickets, so the $125.00 was low enough for scalpers online and off, to purchase and sell for higher prices. Could be that Prince/or his staff/or the Rio staff caught on to this early and beat the scalpers online and off to the punch (no pun intended);smart move.that's of cours, if that was the reason for the price hike and especially after the Superbowl with people knowing he's in high demand. With that "high demand," of course Prince/his staff/Rio staff more than likely were aware the scalpers would be out there, trying to sell those tickets to people who desperately want those tickets..not to mention scalpers possibly scamming some customers at the same time, especially now that a lot of people are finding out this is supposedly Prince's last month performing in Vegas.

I guess they figured, why pay a scalper $250 or $300.00+ for a ticket, when you can get it straight from the source (Tktmassa) or (the Rio) for that same price? You buy from the source and you don't have to worry if your ticket is valid or not, unlike the scalper's ticket. I think if they kept the price at $125.00 long enough, they figured it would give the scalpers more time to get tkts at that price and sell them for double the price plus more. So I think that is the reason they had a time limit on selling the tickets in the beginning at $125.00 then doubling it to avoid scalpers online and off from scamming the prices. I know the speculated reason given doesn't make anyone feel better about the increase in ticket price, but it just seems like that would be one of the reasons for the price increase.
.

Well, now with a rumored (and I stress "rumored" because nothing official has been announced from the Prince camp, just hearsay) tour, for those interested, stickpoke it's time to start saving a Prince Concert fund for yourselves if you can, Now I'm not saying use your mortgage money/rent money, but if your budget allows you some extra cash that you could put on the side, then save with that;if not, then you know the answer to that, it's all up to you and there is no one else to blame for whatever decision you make about going to the concert, xcept you especially if you complain about the money you spent to go.. (by the way people...include the airfare/train/ hotel/taxi/food costs, if you plan on going to more than one concert in and outside your city/state, especially if airfare/train/bus fees applies to your planned travel lol )....I mean I'm just sayin'..may as well start saving early...just in case.. biggrin

but there are also thousands who can't..i would imagine a big chunk of his fanbase is the "cant" vs. the 'can". I hear the stories of people not paying bills to go a concert. that is just insanity. I hear ya though! The price of the whole shabang is what has kept me from going. Sure, I would love to have the experience of 3121, but can't justify the cost with 6 kids, 2 of whom are in college. Musicology was the first time I was ever able to "afford" to go to his concerts in the past ten years, and never lived anywhere close to a venue that he performed at before then...so an intimate setting like 3121 would be great, but i ain't gonna go broke either lol , sooo hopefully the tour happens and the tix are better priced.

exactly...I could just say "fuck it" and charge the difference to my credit card. But to me, that would not be fiscally responsible. I have grad school to pay off and livin' in NYC isn't cheap either... I wasn't so keen on the LV idea anyway, but I got caught up in the hype and the chance to see him in a small venue. My back up plan now is to go to all NYC and DC tour dates. biggrin
