3121 Venue is TIRED While I did enjoy Prince's performance at 3121 in Vegas Sunday night, the venue in which it took place in another story. The VIP section was too far away from the stage unless u were to the right or the left of the stage. The floor section was a bit to LOW and with all of the TALL people in the crowd u could barely see a thing.
That venue NEEDS 2 go ASAP. I'm NOT the only one who thinks so either.

with the exception of main arena's with some VIP's sitting in the front or up in skyboxes, aren't most VIP sections far from the stage and off to the side?

My point is that the site lines are POOR. I had 2 leave the VIP and come down 2 the floor. It was just as bad down there.

Well, it's an old ass club that wasn't built as a performing venue. I went to Club Rio back '96 before all these gorgeous clubs showed up in Vegas, and it was one of the hottest spots in town. It's looking a little dated but I guess the combination of the club and the restaurant so close suits Prince's needs.

i must have scored cause I had the first table on the right side of the stage
didnt get any better than that! "Paisley Park is in your Heart"

They should have put Prince in the middle and had a rotating stage. That would have worked much better.
BTW, have many of u guys have met Trevor? What an ASSHOLE.

I disagree with this. My opinion was that there was no such thing as a bad VIP table, and I thought the sight lines were great all around. I went in and out a couple of times during the show, and could see great from even the back of the club. I can't speak for the GA floor however. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...

Your eyesite is OBVIOUSLY better than mine. I thought the VIP seats were NOT good except the first 3/4 seats in each section (at the front of the club) and even then they were NOT that good.

Trevor also acts as P's bodyguard when necessary....he did in May at the Empire in Vegas when he stood guard at the tables not letting anyone pass through that side if you didn't pay to sit there. As a matter of fact, I believe during opening weekend at 3121, he was the one who carried a nutty girl off the stage (correct me if I am wrong) and put her out, because she went up on stage, went behind Prince and put her arms around him and would not let go, so I think it was Trevor who ran up on stage and pulled her off of Prince and then carried her off. Prince embarassed her turned around and looked at her and said "Don't you have kids at home?"Because she would not let go of him. [Edited 2/23/07 15:59pm]

Yeah, he's an ass. I saw him yelling at various 3121 employees on Saturday night because they (Prince's people) were adding "VIPs" to the jazz room at the last minute which contributed to fans not being able to get in. They would say we have 20 VIPs but add 10 more during the aftershow AFTER fans were assured there was room for them. He's VERY unprofessional and rude. I saw him acting a fool on New Year's Eve too.

Prince turned around and was like, "Excuse Me!" Oh yeah, you're right...it was sort of an abrupt "EXXCUUSSE ME!", and he gave her "that look" like he was saying "you think I'm playing?" and that's when Trevor ran on stage, picked her up and carried her off the stage somewhere to the back of the room. I'm not sure if Trevor put her out of the club, but she basically embarassed herself. because I guess she thought it was cool to just walk up and hold on him like that, but she thought wrong and got what she deserved....she forgot the "Look but don't touch policy." But for what it's worth, the venue is not bad at all. At least they built the stage on higher ground, than it was back in May which makes it better for everyone to see the performance. I guess they wanted to make sure they let in as many celebrity VIPs in there so they could buy the expensive liquor, wine, champagne, and leave big tips, etc.,...now that'll make the wait staff happy. [Edited 2/23/07 17:57pm]

which one is Trevor and which one is Randy? can you describe them please?

So why didn't you call Prince and ask him to hook you up with a better VIP booth? The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I like that the stage was low so I could get a good look at everything.
I would kinda be crappy to be short in that crowd!

Trevor is the tall, younger looking black guy and I think Randy is the older black guy that always wears a hat or cap and helps set up the instruments. I believe it was Randy working the soundboard and yelling at the guitar tech on Sunday.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but my experience of 3121 was completely the opposite of yours. I thought it was a great club and well done (for what it is). The only thing that was seriously lacking, to me, was the lack of a bathroom. It was annoying to have to keep going out into the Casino to pee. I mean, they're serving drinks and want you to buy drinks (and lots of them) and you're there for a long time, but there's no place to whizz. That's just super lame.
Re: Prince's bodyguard. The night I was there his bodyguard was white. Really, I would much rather see Prince at 3121 than at some huge arena.

TREVOR IS AN ASSSSS! When I went to the first celebration at Paisley Park they gave us the little neck chains with the glowing stars laminated in them. I noticed right away that mine didn't have one. Back then Aaron was P's bodyguard, so he initialed mine the very first night so that I wouldnt have problems the rest of the week. On the fourth night, Trevor is working the door... keep in mind I had seen/talked to him all week long. Anyhow, he goes to shine the light on the little star (which of course I dont have) and he yells "this is a fake, get her out of here" and he tries to RIP my badge off of me. It gets caught in my hoop earring and he is literally ripping my ear off. I started screaming at him and calling him an asshole, and they had to go get Aaron. Aaron just looked at him and was like "she's cool dude.. relax" I have freakin HATED Trevor since that moment, and that was in 2000... asshole. The older black man that someone else mentioned is Scotty, isn't it?
As far as the club.. the first night I went, I couldn't really see all that well. I was about 7 or 8 people back on the floor, standing behind a gaggle of men, and I am only 5'4. Last weekend, I was only three people back and I could see everything, including P's shoes. I do remember leaving at one point and coming back in, and i was standing near the bar in the back, and stopped and thought, wow.. this is a really nice view! I am not sure what it would be like actually SITTING at a table cuz I was standing and elevated, but I happen to really like the venue. I like the circular design, the video screens (even though they serve no purpose once the show starts), the fact that you can come and go, and that there is more than one bar, even though I don't drink. Hey... when you want a bottle of $8.00 water its nice to not have to walk far... LOL! Anyhow... just my two cents... enjoy, and don't spend it all in one place!

I believe that night he was the one who summoned me to sit down during the aftershow since I was blocking his view on Prince.....dude is SMALL!

I really don't think there is a bad spot for viewing the stage in the entire house. I mean, it is a small club. And Prince, himself, hangs out there and he's probably shorter than anyone posting on here. I guess I just really don't get this thread. Of all the things to take this club on for. I mean, would you have better site lines at a coliseum? I doubt it. If Prince came to my city I would sure as hell be forced to see him in such a venue, not something as small and intimate as 3121. And I would, no doubt, have trouble seeing him except as a freaking dot on the stage (no thank you). but maybe you just had a bad night.
