I don't remember a complete setlist for Friday 2/16th.

But I do KNOW that he opened with Something in the Water Does Not Compute and did Pink Cashmere with a verse from One Kiss at a Time tacked on to the end. I wanted to HOLLA. . . actually. . . I think I did because I've NEVER seen him do any of these live so it was a real treat. Also he did not do Let's Go Crazy OR Purple Rain. thumbs up!

Another highlight was Natalie Cole jazz scatting during Musicology when Prince brought everyone on stage. Natalie looked gorgeous and sounded even better. Her and Maceo were trading licks and it was crazy outta control. I got to shake her hand and tell her how beautiful she looked. I told her to keep doing whatever she's doing because she's an inspiration to women everywhere. That sista if 56 and was looking half her age up on that stage. AWESOME! lol

On Sunday (2/18), he did a lil of LGC and probably the most electrifying, guitar heavy version of PR I've ever seen. I may be exaggerating because I was directly in front of his mic stand and my hands kept bumping up against his guitars all night. I'm probably on a Purple high. . . woot!nod

Sunday highlights were Talib Kweli rhyming like crazy over Musicology, Ludacris playing hype man, Dave Chappelle dancing on the stage and taking and pocketing money offered by crowd.

But the best part was watching Talib Kweli's face when Prince did the rap from Prince and the Band. Talib was next to Luda and you could tell from his expression that it suddenly dawned on him that Prince was actually rapping not singing. He had this huge grin on his face and he was intently listening to the words and nodding his head. Then when Prince did the part about record contracts he was really into it and said something to Luda and they both grinned and nodded like, "I didn't know Prince had skillz like this!" It was hilarious to watch them gain a new appreciation and respect for Prince cuz it was written all over their faces.

Crazy, wonderful night! Of all the shows I've been to Friday took the whole damn cake, then came Sunday and it surpassed even Friday's. This was my fifth/sixth Vegas show and it's going to be HARD to go back to arena tours after this level of intimacy. But it's motivated me to get back to Vegas one LAST time in March before it all ends.

Now that sounds like something Dave would do! lol I believe you about seeing Prince in a small venue, it does seem like he connects with the crowd better. It is definitely going to be hard to see him perform in a larger venue after so many of us are spoiled seeing him in a smaller one.

How did he perform Something in the Water??? Was it similar to the arrangement on the album or was it more like the jazzy version he did @ the Park a few years ago?

It was like the album because as soon as the curtain went up and I heard that fast snare I KNEW that's what it was. His voice was incredible too. lol

I would add that FRIDAY was awesome. I was next to SCNDLS as well as Kim, sorry I don't know your org name. He started off with "Something in the Water' which was great. I recall the following, however not in order.

Something in the Water
3121
Pink Cashmere (Prince even mentioned this is one of his fave jams)
Let's Go Crazy
Pass the Peas (Maceo, Natalie Cole)
Mike Phillips awesome jazz sax solo of "What a wonderful world"
Lolita
Black Sweat
Crazy which Cee-Lo came out and sang
Will I Am came out and sang, not sure the name of the song

That's all I remember, it was a blast. Prince was awesome on guitar and looked great in his outfits. I'm in love with the Twinz.

Afterwards I was able to get into the aftershow where I met most of the band, they were all gracious and sincere. I was rockin till 5:30am smile
"It ain't over"! biggrin
"May U live 2 C the Dawn"

When Prince dragged Dave to the front of the stage, he was right in front of me, barely shamblin' to the beat, so I started pullin' out some $1 bills and handin' 'em to him, to get him into the groove. It worked!

Every time I handed him a dolla' he stuffed it in his pocket and danced some more. dancing jig

All I know is he just bet' not spend my hard-earned five dollars on some damned cigarettes with his chain-smokin behind. hmph!

Gabrielle Union and her lady friends were dancin' in front of me, right behind Dave -- which reminds me to drop to my knees some time soon and thank God, Jehovah, Allah, Buddha, L. Ron Hubbard -- whoever -- for the gift of eyesight. love
