Aftershow queing sucks!

Just got back from Vegas (to U.k) had a great time, went to both shows, amazing.
The only gripe i have is the aftershow queing. My wife and i left early on Friday night (missed Elton) there was about 30 people in front of us in que for the aftershow so i thought we would be fine. As soon as the main concert was over, another 30ish people jumped infront of us to join friends, and as soon as the que started to move another 20 or so people just run to the front and jumped in. There were 3 people on the door watching this and as far as i could see no one was turned away! Had to go in the 2nd room couldn't see a thing. We didn't want to miss any of the main show on the second night, amazing performance, but again we couldn't get in to 3121 aftershow.Needs better management!

I'm sorry you were disappointed, but there is no way in heaven or hell that tiny room can accommodate everyone who wants to go to the aftershow. I truly think the staff are doing the best they can, short of setting up a lottery every week. (And oh, baby -- would you see some bitching if they did that!)

Aftershows are always as much about luck as anything else.

You're right that they can't accommodate everyone. But, it could easily be made more fair and organized. As you line up, you get a numbered ticket and can get ONE more for another person, none of this group crap. If your companion isn't there by the time they start seating people, too bad for them, they miss the show and someone else gets to buy a ticket. If anyone tries to cut the line or rush the door, they don't gain admittance. It's easy enough for someone to watch what folks are doing and control things if they want.

Even a lottery might be more fair, at least people who haven't gotten in yet would have a chance.

Personally, I wouldn't have it. If someone tried to cut in front of me without proper authorization, I'd eject them myself. Especially if I left the concert early.

I agree with that and stated near the same in my reviews of the 19th/20th. I find it very unfair for people to hold spots for more than one other person- and it's a shame people don't just realize that on their own.
I've read on the other thread that they are selling wristbands during the dinner hours now? I guess not a bad idea if they're trying to encourage people to eat at the restaurant, but what about people who can't afford all that? dinner, main show ticket, $50 aftershow cover, it adds up fast!

They do have a general policy in place, and that is 4 wristbands per 1 person -- it's been that way pretty much from the onset. I have found that (particulary this past weekend) security, and other staffers have been very adept at maintaining the overall integrity of this policy and the line. There are factors which affect the number of entries permitted from the main, or GA line, which staffers have no control over i.e., the number of "VIP" parties, and/or members in said parties, whether or not advance wristband sales are offered to "VIP" diners, and how many people are referred to the aftershow by Rio boxoffice for those that can/do not get tickets to the SOLD OUT stage show, etc.
Typically entry is not gained (from the main line) until "VIP's" are seated and the staff has a truer count as to how many spaces are available; and you may be split from your party to be in the "music room."
Just as a side note -- and I'll echo whomever mentioned the lighting: it is very dimly lit, and when the crowd stands (Prince has about two feet to himself) and you can't see Jack -- much less Prince and the band!

4 per 1 is too many IMO. 2 to 1 would be more fair to all. Also, I had the VIP package with dinner on the 1/19 and got no special treatment re: the aftershow. I made it into the aftershow on the 20th after skipping the main show and carefully watching the line (while playing roulette nearby).
To say staff has no control over some things is confusing (unless you meant only his security staff) as the staff in the club and the restaurant are the same staff. Our waitress at the main show Fri was our music room aftershow waitress on Sat.
As far as visuals when you get in, that's all a matter of luck and type of crowd there with you. On the 20th, people pretty much stayed put. And even though we were some of the last seated from the line, we had 2 of the best seats in the place- about 2 feet from Prince's chair and saw everything perfectly throughout.

This must have changed quite a bit since I went in December. They let people in order through the door, the band room was well lit and we could see easily from the other room, only a handful or so of people attempted to get into the band room after Prince took stage, there were no minimums on purchases or any cover charge and I don't remember a wristband - however, it's possible I had one.
A prince never lacks legitimate reasons to break his promise.
