Recognition that the original 3121 random R&B/soul Wednesday concept wasn't working?

Recognition that the Grupo Fantasma Thursday thing could only go for so long?

A renewed focus on what he does best -- his own show Friday/Saturday gig?

A transitonal sign of the beginning of the end of 3121?

Hey maybe they'll bring 3121 to Atlantic City? That sure would be nice if he brought the shows to the East Coast for a while...(wishful thinking)

Checked Ticketmaster and Isley Brothers still listed for March 14th 2oo7. Checked Rio Hotel website and they had Wednesday and Thursdays schedule 3121 shows for February with start times of 11pm.The other show on the link starts at 8pm.No March schedule listed on the Rio site but HOPES are still there for PRINCE in March.

I bet he was just looking for something that would attract the most people while he finishes out his contract. Who knows? If Primo is good then the Rio might sign him up after 3121 leaves.

from what i heard, rio does not want him anymore. they already have some acts to take over after prince leaves.

but what confuses me about this new wednesday/thursday shows is that just the last night, i still heard musiq being advertised on the radio to perform at 3121.

btw, michael jackson was there last night. bobby brown was there too, sharing the same table....totally unrelated.

I just found this info in Robin Leach's column (must've been from Valentine's Day?)

"Recording artist Tyrese, known for his passionate lyrics and sexy sound, makes a memorable guest performance serenading singles and couples tonight at Prince's Club 3121 in the Rio. Then a warm welcome to Louis Prima Jr. and his eight-piece orchestra, The Witnesses, who will now do every Wednesday and Thursday while Prince is away on tour. Louis Jr. is recreating a Vegas tradition his father made famous for 30-years in our early days known as "The Wildest Show in Vegas." He combines New Orleans jazz, a big-band sound with some swing, blues, boogie-woogie and rock and roll! Prince himself is back this weekend and has extended his NBA All-Star weekend shows to 3 nights!"

The Rio probably has other acts planned since they know Prince will be leaving soon, it's called planning ahead. That doesn't mean they "don't want him anymore". I've heard just the opposite of what you stated, at least from management's point of view, he's bringing them good publicity and great shows. I'm sure some of the workers are frustrated with the process, it hasn't been organized very well,as we all know.

It was also stated that Prince would be returning to the Rio in Nov/Dec, so maybe he's still 'managing' the club until the end of the year.

I hope that if he does go on tour that he does come back to Las Vegas, I just love the 3121 shows. biggrin

I do, too. It's a lot of money, but it's worth the experience. I'd rather pay to see him in a small venue.

Me too, it's actually ruined me for arena type shows. I went to the Hard Rock and even though I enjoyed the show, it just wasn't the same vibe as 3121.
