I was so disappointed in this hard rock show. I have seen Prince in the Musicology Tour and One Nite Alone and they were so much better. He definitely was not into that night. I was sitting in sec 104, the first riser to the back. When the show started I walked up to about the 15th row and stood there. Everyone around me was mean. No one was singing or seemed to know his latest music at all. How pathetic.

The lighting was terrible, The sound system was the worst I have ever heard. I personally think Prince was disgusted with the whole scenario. I sure was. I went to the after party, paid 600.00 for a table and was hoping to see Prince. I sat there until 2:30am, never giving up. But finally, even I had to admit he wasn't coming. Had I known this was going to happen, I would have got tickets to the Rio. Now I spent all my money in Miami for a concert that sucked.

I still love Prince. I am a huge fan and know that he is much better than he was that night. I'll still buy tickets to any concert I can, but I truly hope that next time the venue he perfoms in will be better prepared or he will make better choices. God what a letdown.
You get a brother in trouble, girl!

As far as Prince with his Superbowl performance, how can I say this?
Most people have amnesia. So unless Prince has something controversial in mind with his presentation. No one is really going to care. If he wanted to play the ace card he would have Jagger/Richards come down from a plane/helicopter. and play a Stones medley to close it. But he wants to go with "Shelby"
I know alot fans don't want to admit it. But Prince doesn't have the universal charisma of Rolling Stones. Most kids won't even flinch when they see it.

lol

Please.

The Stones have no place in my charisma universe.
We all want the stuff that's found in our wildest dreams.

It sounded more like Dr Feelgood to me
If the wind blew all the petals from your precious red rose, would you be afraid of what you'd find inside?...

Anyone see that girl in the see though outfit only wearing a thong?

haha. I think I know what you are talking about. As we came in we saw her. See through top or whatever and NO BRA !! White chick right? I was quickly distracted to the fact that Chris Carter was standing in front of me though. I feel sad for that poor naked girl. It was cold. She must have sold all her clothes for a ticket. Her Mama obviously (and lack of Father) did not raise her right.

Well If you want to see him again I got word from a very reputable source that Prince will be back in Miami to set a record. Apparently Shakira has some record for 5 sold out shows and Prince is going to break it by setting up Six back to back shows at the American Airlines Arena. This deal is being worked out right now.

Damn, if this is true, I'm gonna be broke.

Prince for sure made up for this lackluster show with that unforgettable Superbowl performance.

One more thing. I went to the Hardrock as well and a lot of people I think got in cause someone gave them the tickets...the people behind me said they were excited after the show and said "not bad for a freebie !!" I or rather my husband coughed up $1800 for our two tickets as a Christmas gift so I was a little irked that some idiot got in right behind me for free. I was in the 7th row though so at least I got a good view of the show but still. Also John Legend was there at the show. He sat next to some friends of mine further back.

Ya when I find out anymore info I will be sure and post it on here. The guy who told me is a big Prince fan. He has season tickets for the Heat and a friend of his runs something event-wise for the Arena and he told him when he saw him at the Heat game I guess. I will keep my fingers crossed. I have to redeem Prince to my husband since he wasn't to impressed with the show. I will of course take him any way I can.

1. I can't believe he covered "Rock Lobster" - one of the best "new wave" songs ever - and this fact is buried in this thread.

2. I also can't believe that Prince fans can be so blatantly "ageist" as those posting above. The age of the audience members has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with anything, including whether or not it was a good show, and the fact that you think it does only shows how ignorant you are.

I was fortunate enough to be at 3121 in Vegas and was, in fact, moved by the fact that so many different people, from different backgrounds, and of different ages, including "seniors," were all brought "together" for this experience. Moreover, the age of a "senior" is getting younger and younger, it seems (people join AARP in their 50's now). Based on that, how many more years will it be until Prince is considered a "senior"? Throw your preconceptions about age out the window, people. It doesn't have anything to do with whether or not it was a good show. Maybe you should go back and read your own posts when you reach an age that you consider to be "old." Jerks.

I am the original poster of this thread. I made no reference to age, only to the corporate type suits that were at the show.

This show is/was much better suited for a club type atmosphere.

Being 37 myself, I do not care if you are 1 or 100, if you are going to a Prince show, you better be ready to bring your maximum energy because Prince is gonna bring his.

Sounds the environment sucked. Bad lighting and Bad Sound. Corporate Morons walking around. I bet this put P in a bad mood. Sounds like he might have done his best in a negative environment.

Really strange of the Hotel since I read they paid a million dollars.

What was annoying was there were several people in the audience, especially on the floor who looked like they'd rather be someplace else. Some were older senior citizens, who I'm guessing received comp tickets for their casino activity.

The crowd is alsways a factor in the success of a show.

Sounds to me like those old geezers should've stayed in their rooms and given up their seats to people who cared.

liltalkm, I never singled you out, nor did I make my comments personal, nor were my comments directed at you (or any one individual). They were directed at the statements made above. It doesn't matter who made them. The comments are offensive and should not have been made. They do indicate "ageist" ideas that have nothing to do with whether the show was a good show or not. The ideas, in and of themselves, are prejudiced and, as far as I am concerned, unacceptable. And, ultimately, just lame.

I was there and agree with your review. The Musicology tour had me mesmerized, this show was just good...The superbowl convinced me that he still has it!

#6) Misc Items- A) The encore #2, final song was “Nothing compares to you”. He could have done this with the new women singer in a duet, but he just rushed through it alone.

Prince has said that he will never sing Nothing compares 2 you with no one other than Rosie Gaines.
