Saturday, January 27th at 3121 Back from Vegas and I wanted to give my two cents on the 3121 experience. Wow, what a great night to see Prince in such an intimate venue. We arrived around 10:30pm and spent two hours totally blown away by tracks that DJ Rashida was spinning. Give her some credit, I would pay anything for a CD of that mix. Digital Underground, De La Soul, Vanity, James Brown, Beastie Boys, Eric B, EMPD, George Clinton, Prince, Apollonia, Michael jackson, Rick James, The Time, BBD and on and on...
On to the show, Prince was all over the place and was in great spirits. The show was indeed stellar with guest performances from Will.I.Am and Larry Carlton. Hell, I even passed Tom Jones sitting at a table in back as we were walkng out. Great set list and great encore. The show length was only about 75-80 minutes though. We were only about 10-15 feet from the stage along the wall on the right hand side. Also, the Twinz look incredible in person. My one complaint was the 3121 boutique was a disaster. They have one person pulling merchandise and one person on the register. It took forever to get up there and then the largest size t-shirts they had were medium. I wanted to get the black t-shirt w/ 3121 "Don;t you wanna come" or the Brown "3121" tee but I came away empty handed. My advice is to get to 3121 while Prince is taking up residency. It is an incredible experience to see him in this great club. It's going down ya'll, like the Wall of Berlin. [Edited 1/30/07 12:20pm] | |
