lining up 4 aftershow

Just curious, is there an avg. suggested time to start to line up for the aftershow? My husband and I will be there on the 9th and I wonder when he should head out from the club show to the restaurant to get in line for us....

see my post here for more info...(www.prince.org/msg/12/215411) It includes full details of my aftershow experience last week (sat). I also separately posted "part 1", describing where I only made it to the outer room on friday.
you've got to be really careful as people have 1 person waiting on line, but then 2,3,4, 5 or more join them making it difficult to judge your spot. Headcounts not necessarily accurate unless they make a procedure change from last week. I would say don't wait any longer than 1ish-(1:30 absolute latest to be safe). I saw 2 people there by midnight but they were pretty much all alone on line until about 12:45. Around that time, it started growing quickly. But then again, each week it might change as more people collect info from those of us who've been....might get even harder. Good luck! biggrin and please post a full report when u get back!

The show I went ot started at 12:20 so you think someone should pay $125 and then leave 40 minutes into it. Wouldn't it make more sense to have one person not go to the mainshow? Prince sure has set up a stupid system.

no, I don't think that- I think they should make a change. The night I went to the main show, I only got to the outer room of the aftershow as I refused to leave early. Then on Sat. I skipped the main show to be sure I made it in for the aftershow. I think it's unfair to let people hold spots for more than one other person, imo.

A stupid system? Us fans are lucky that Prince has even decided to have aftershows at all, and for how many decades? How many other musical artists have aftershows... and not to mention intimate afterparties like Prince has?

I fully agree and have stated similar elsewhere. I'm very hesitant to complain about anything relating to my Vegas experience, but have to admit I wish the system for the aftershows was more fairly balanced. I got in but- I felt really bad for the people behind us on line who waited a long time then didn't get in because bigger groups kept joining one person closer to the front of the line. I saw a bunch of people wait for awhile then walk away sad/disappointed knowing they wouldn't make it.

Unfortunately, my husband and I can only go to the Friday night show and (hopefully) aftershow. We have to head back to L.A. on Saturday. But fortunately, my husband is not a Prince fan in the way that I am. So he'll probably be ok with leaving the main show early. I'm hoping he extends shows into March so I can spend an entire weekend and do the main show one night and aftershow the other night.

The system should be that people in line get wrist bands at an unannounced time but one that's reasonable. Those who aren't, don't get the bands. It's not rocket science. As much as I love it all, you have to remember that P. holds little value for other people's time. I too will go through the gyrations of trying to get into the aftershow, as I have numerous times before while he's been on tour. But it would be nice not to have to sit there for 3 hours, or so, doing nothing while in Vegas. It is what it is though and at least you're pretty much assured that there WILL be an aftershow to the Vegas show. Hope he's "ON" the Friday night I'm there! None of the "going through the motions" the 23rd P! There are plenty of fams at every show, I'm sure.

I think a good idea would be to only give admittance to the NPG members or sell tickets for the aftershow like at 6pm the night of the show or sell them separately from the 3121 club tickets on the same day the fans purchase the club tickets.

Isn't it sort of miserable to miss part of the main show to try to get into an aftershow that might not even happen? My friend and I left the show early on Dec.2nd and it was only my friends second time seeing Prince in concert and she was very disaappointed that she had to hear Purple Rain from the restaurant.

Now that is genius!!! It would pack the room with fans and not just a VIP who is expecting to see Celine.

Do you reallythink some casual fan "who is expecting to see Celine" is going to make a special point to stay up 'til 3 a.m. to go to a Prince aftershow? lol

There should be system for NPG members who should have first access? Much like the One Night Alone tour, etc.
