This one caught me completely by surprise. I was at the January 19th 3121 show when I saw Prince perform this song. Absolutely breathtaking! It was just Renato on the piano while Prince sang. If there was ever any doubt about just how beautiful Prince's voice can sound it was undeniably put to rest with that performance. I've been to 5 different Prince concerts (Lovesexy, O+)>, Jam of the Year, Musicology, and 3121) and while there have been many brilliant moments, the performance of 9 Million Bicycles has to be one of the top ones.

There was a film crew there for the performance and I really, really hope that this song makes it to a dvd or album release. I still get goosebumps just thinking about that performance!

wow,never heard of him having done that before. I was secretly hoping that maybe he was going to film the NYE concert as i would love to be able to watch a DVD of a concert I was actually at.

I still have the vision in my head of Prince, back turned to the audience standing by Renato as he played with just a single spotlight highlighting them.

There have been other songs that have shown just how great Prince's voice can sound, but in my opinion none better than the performance of 9 Million Bicycles. Like he has with Purple Rain, Prince should make that a permanent fixture in every set list he plays from now on.
