Beautiful, Loved & Blessed

My husband and I attended the show on December 9th. Prince was phenomenal! He played at the show from around 12:30 AM to almost 3:00 AM. My husband and I loved the venue. Afterwards we went back to (actually, I cut out of the concert a little early to get a great seat) Prince's restaurant where he later showed up and performed for another two hours. The dining room we were in was just a little larger than my living room. Prince was signing and dancing within two feet of me! I was right there at one of the front tables participating with my 3121 tambourine. It was out of hand!

It is hard to believe this story could get any better, but it did when I met Prince, held his hand and talked with him about my daughter. I followed Prince as he was about to leave though the kitchen and I called out to him “Excuse me, Mr. Prince.”…. How ridiculous is that? Nonetheless, Prince turned around and I reached out for his hand and thanked him for allowing us to experience his talent in such an intimate setting.

I went on to tell him that my husband and I were supposed to have seen him a few years back when he played in Columbia, SC. However, my doctor put me on bed rest three days before the show due to a complicated pregnancy with my daughter. That is when Prince asked me if my daughter knew “the word”. He literally stood there, looked me square in my eyes (I am very short too) and said it is very important for my daughter to know "the word". In addition, he gave me a copy of the New World Translations of the Holy Scriptures to give to my daughter, Brooking. He had his body guard retrieve the Bible for me from another room and then he left.

Prince was incredibly gracious. He listened to me intently and was so kind and sincere. That was around 5:30 AM. I think I was the last person he spoke to....

When I came out of from the kitchen with the Holy Scriptures that Prince just gave me, my husband was speechless. We are still pinching each other! I am so grateful to have been lucky enough to get a seat in that dining room. I could have never imagined in my wildest dreams to have had such an experience and what a wonderful treasure our little girl will always have from Prince. He certainly made me feel beautiful, loved and blessed.

If you have any desire to see Prince, you've got to go see him in his club 3121 in Vegas. Even if I had not met the man himself the concert alone was fantastic! We will definitely be seeing this show again and I will forever be a Prince devotee!

PS~ just found this site and I love it!

I'm VERY happy for you! I know how excited you were to finally be able to attend your FIRST Prince concert/experience. I know it was a disappointment not to be able to go the first time you had tickets....and your hubby was sweet offering to buy them from you anyways...hehee You were meant to see Prince that evening and to speak to him, that doesn't happen ever day. wink
Do you believe in fate, love and the one above? Don't answer, I already know the answer.

Tell hubby, I said "WooHoo, more brass, more brass!" cool

Hilarious! On the flight home (just hours after our "experience") my husband said "Man, I hope I didn't get on anyone nerves..... I kept yelling for more brass!" You must be one of the gracious ladies who was sitting near or with us. Thanks for letting him indulge. It was a blast.... The experience of a lifetime!

Do you plan to go back?

Yes, I do remember you! My husband and I have been kindly referring to you as the "grumpy lady". I even told my class about you on Monday morning. Although everyone is entitled to a bad day, we just kept thinking "How could anyone seem so miserable(or now we know sad)in that environment?". The overall vibe was so positive and high energy, we were just puzzeled and amazed someone could seem so blue. In addition, being true Charlestonians (Charleston, SC known for being the friendliest city in all of America), it is almost like our God given duty to try and cheer a poor soul up. We are sorry for your losses and are glad to know you did have a great time afterall(We read your report from Friday night's show, sorry we missed it!).

If you ever plan to come down south let us know. We'd love to show ya the town. Charleston has a killer blues festival every February. No Prince (although, he did play here in the early 80's). However, the entertainment ain't too shabby! Hubby says "Hi, y'all!" He also says while visiting he'd make sure you got to taste a glass of true sweet tea.

PS~ The tambourine made it home in mint condition! It is sitting on my bookshelf on display right next to The Bible Prince gave me.

Peace, peace!

After I read what you wrote, my mouth dropped wide-opened. What a wonderful experience you had! I beleive that everything happens for a reason. You were meant to miss the first concert so that you could attend the other and meet and speak with him. You were truly blessed when he gave you a copy of his bible!

That's amazing. I honestly don't know how I would react if Prince started talking to me. Probably like an ass.

What an amazing story, Brooking. I was brought to tears. I am SO happy for you, and know that you will treasure the moment FOREVER. My husband and I were going to go to 3121, but Prince will be performing here in Hollywood, FL @ the Hard Rock for a pre-Superbowl show. We feel blessed to be 8th row, but as a 26-year-long-fan-atic, I can tell you that if I ever had the opportunity to talk with Prince, I'd surely pass out. eek

I know exactly what you mean. My family is from Charleston,SC and every summer and holidays and I would look forward to my trip down south, My grandmother house was on Mary St which is a couple of blocks from King and Meeting street and the first time I saw Prince was in Charleston at the Municipal Auditorium... It was Prince and Teena Marie (my cousin took me with her) I was really young but I remember it like it was yesterday.... I was born and raised in NY but Charleston SC is my home biggrin[quote]
