01/12 Jazz cuisine aftershow report

Hello Y'all. I'll skip the concert review.....here's the aftershow review @ 3121 jazz cuisine....it was hot!!! the entrance was 20$

Setlist aftershow

Start 03.10

Band begins with Renato, Mike philips, cory on drums and her husband on bass,
mike philips talks about what a wonderfull experience it is to be part of the 3121 experience
and gives much props 2 prince.

They play all instrumental jazz songs. After 20 minutes Mike starts jelling through the microphone
for Maceo an Greg....they aren't in the room yet.....the band continues to groove while Mike
steps away from the band and starts calling with his cellphone. About 15 minutes later Maceo and Greg
join in.....3121 Jazz cuisine is on fire and the Man isn't even in yet!!!!

After 50 minutes of instrumental jams Mike starts to freestyle rap on some funky beats.
He raps about be and 3121 and some 3121 chants. After that he lets the croud participate with the chant:
Can I kick it? Yes you can!!!!

This goes on and on until 04.15...then P comes in.

He's wearing the same outfit he had on on the SNL performance from 2006 (The bue one) without the ornage turtle neck.
He graps his guitar and imeadiately starts a funky groove. He also starts the 3121 chants. After that the new girlie singer
(forgot her name) joins and starts singing. Prince is smiling happy and feeling funky....

And then the crazy thing starts....he starts pulling the girls in front out of their chairs and within a few seconds everybody is
dancing around Prince and the band. no bodyguards, no nothing, everybody dance!!! It was unbelievable!!

Prince yells to the band "B-flat" and then Girls& boys kicks in. Full long funky version, with everybody doing the girls&boys move with their
hands just cm's from Prince's face!!!

After that Prince plays a groovy short instrumental version of Thank u 4 lettin' b myself again.....just for a minute. Then e stops and begins the
riff of "Sing a simple song". The full version is played with many horn solo's!!!

After that sexy dancer kicks in....the instrumental part (everybody is still dancing around Prince and the band)!!!
During sexy dancer Mike philips does No Diggity with his voicebox (or whatever it is called...).

And then out of nowhere Kip joins in!! He sings "Come and dance with me" and superstition" on the sexy dancer groove. Mike is still
screaming through his voicebox the chant "One nation under a groove" (I think it was that one)!

After some jamming prince asks everybody to sit down. So eveybody takes his old seating while he screams to the band
" Down by the river side". the band kicks in and he goes to his own table wich has a keyboard placed on it!
During this song many solo's are giving. Prince plays the keyboard, Bongo"s (he had them near his table) and the guitar!!

After down by the riverside Prince yells "Whats hip?" A very funky version of the song kicks in and everybody is up on his feet again!!!!
Everybody again dancing around P and the band!

At 05.50 the song ends and the aftershow is over.....Prince leaves and Renato does a spacy outro with some notes of "sometimes it snows in April".

It was the best aftershow I ever been to!!!

Hopefully 2night he's feeling funky again!

Wow!!!....Cool review...I believe the singer you are talking about is "Shelby", that's the name some fans from the New Year's Eve show said, so it must have been her. Wow...have another good time tonight...go ahead and party 'til you drop...I wont be mad at ya! biggrin

Gee, sorry I missed out. Started out with a perfect table. When Prince arrived people stood up and blocked my view. I'm 4'10'. I wiggled my way up briefly to the front and ended up standing next to a cute bodyguard much of the time, behind people. (The man was solid as a brick) biggrin .I can give you every exact detail of Prince's high heeled boot on the pedal on the floor if you're interested.. That was my perfect view from the chair I was sitting in at our table.. Had on a nice boot too. I could only see the "right" one.
The bodyguard quickly corrected me when I speculated if Prince was wearing a wig. NO!
Next time I go, I'll dress up in some odd white outfit and dance around by myself on the dance floor, kinda what that woman in a shroud was doing.
I switched to coffee and espresso at 01:00 knowing I'd never make it through the night after the 3121 tasting menu with wine pairings and champaign.
You know it's a tough lifestyle to be playing so early in the AM....especially when you could do the same thing between 8-midnight?????
I can't wait for Prince to be 60 and have better business hours. (I had to catch a flight and be outta the Rio by 10 am.)
Lest anyone think I'm complaining....I wouldn't have missed watching that RIGHT FOOT for anything! or listening to the excellent jam session...
The other chicks at the table were exposing way too much flesh when they moved to a table closer. I had my eyebrows raised..(.uh "cross your legs, dears").
I get a little shocked at the exhibitionism.

For a small person like myself, I'll see another 3121 show with VIP tickets, but skip the jazz cuisine. I recommend it for anyone who has the opportunity. And if you see that cute Hispanic bodyguard, tell him I said "Hi".

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
