Ya know, I've followed Prince for many years now, as so many of you have. I've attended many shows (of his and many other artists), made the trek from Cleveland to Paisley Park for Xenophobia, waited numerous times for him to pull no shows during "after shows"... all of it, just as many of you have. Shows here in Cleveland (as in many other markets) have been announced the week of the show, etc., etc. and before NPG Club, we stood in line like the rest of the world (or struggled with Ticketmaster on the phone or online). Then along came NPGMC that allowed us to feel appreciated FINALLY. Do we not learn? Prince is not about the fams the majority of the time, he's about himself. Granted, he's loosened up over the years. And of course, the shows are stellar, as (almost) always. But still, the consistent fact is that he can't seem to plan his way out of a paper bag. So who's left hanging? Us, of course. My girlfriend and I would love to PLAN a trip to Vegas from Cleveland in late February (only about 7 weeks away, right?), but like the rest of you, we question whether he'll even be playing by then. And I've been to Vegas enough lately not to make a trip unless he's there this time around. So what do we do? Do we pay higher air fares for waiting for P. to make a decision late or do we simply say the heck with it and let 3121 fade into oblivion because no one's going because no one can make plans to go?

Prince has to realize that people work and need to request time off IN ADVANCE. And then we read that he's stiffing the staff at the RIO through his lack of planning. He's stiffing fams, staff at the Rio, probably band members for not paying them for gigs he's not doing, and probably former musicians every time he changes his mind about who's going to back him (I miss John Blackwell Jr.!). Who's he serving? You tell me, but I can only see one person, besides Jehova (who isn't a person, obviously... before someone corrects me on that one). And then no DVD from the last full tour? I have 8 copies of Musicology I'd be willing to trade for one copy of a DVD!

And what's with the $300/$400 tix in Florida??? For tickets over 30 rows back, people are expected to pay $300?

Come on P.... get back to the basics and realize what we all go through for you. The time to show your appreciation isn't just AT the shows, it's BEFORE the shows too. Don't make us feel like red headed step kids anymore....

I TOTALLY agree with your post. This is a fiasco that could have been a complete financial and artistic success and a win-win for everybody. What I don't understand is why is this so difficult to just announce dates since you're in one location and not moving from city to city like with a tour. I'd think this is way easier for him than touring so why all the drama?????

My sentiments exactly. I too am a gemini, but that is no excuse. I went to Vegas on the 5-7 just for the show that of course was cancelled 2 days prior. We had fun anyways, but I will never do this again. I am done spending my hard earned money on his bullshit. I love him, but this time he has gone to far.
