I think it's safe to say the Rio gig is over.

isn't it hard to sell tickets when they never go on sale??? and when they do go sale it's like a week before the show???? come on, someone in the organization has to be smart enough to realize people need time to book a trip to Vegas. And that it would primarily be full of Prince fans not the average Vegas tourist. I can't imagine that is what he was looking for in the crowd anyway. I really just don't get this.

I have a feeling Prince envisioned everyone seeing this as more of a regular nightclub kinda thing with more people dancing and partying before the shows. But, instead there are the folks standing in their spot for 2 hours before he comes on, like more of a concert atmosphere. I'm sure the late start scares some non-hardcore fans away, while giving others too much time to get plastered and fatigued.

It's really a shame this hasn't panned out better, it'd could've been awesome!

Having been to 3 Prince shows, 4 free Wednesday shows and the Jazz Cuisine 3 times it is my opinion that although some great times were had, in the long run it isn't as popular as Prince thought it would be. Britney Spears sold out her appearance here New Year's Eve and sold 3000 tickets at $300 a piece. That's the kind of place Vegas is. It's not really a good place for Prince to be and since his shows have not sold out and the restaurant is most likely losing money, I bet he will pull out of there soon. Just an opinion though. I could be totally wrong. The demand for a world tour is much bigger than the demand for him to remain in Vegas much longer.

Yea New Year's Eve wasn't sold out for Prince was it? I figured there would be lines to get into see him on weekends. I'm kind of surprised his show isn't the ticket in twn, but I'm a little jaded!

Yeah, I think their advertising has sucked, it's been mainly within Vegas, their papers, online sites, etc., it should have made a much bigger splash. Of course, the ticketing situation has made it worse. The concept was good, but not the execution, unfortunately.

I LOVED the restaurant and have been looking forward to doing the multi-course meal. I hope it's open next weekend, even if the shows are cancelled. (We're going no matter what, we have tix for Love on Sunday night, maybe on Saturday we'll go see Purple Reign if the club isn't open.)

Lucky we have other things to do in Vegas and have both seen him enough not to really fret but am I supposed to wear my new velvet purple sports jacket I bought for this show to a Carrot Top show or let it go to waste lol ?

The way I see we will now have another few hundred to throw around however we choose.

Maybe it's over?

It doesn't matter much to me, really, I'm not 21 so I can't see him anyway, but it kinda sucks for those who bought tickets/airfaire/hotels, or even those who were saving up or planning on seeing him sometime.

OR Maybe he's taking January off to practice for the Superbowl..

OR maybe he's putting the finishing touches on the "new album" that's supposedly coming out after the Superbowl.

I feel for the fans that lost money, but considering that Prince is playing the superbowl and a concert in Florida on Jan.31st,this is probably what Prince is concentrating on.

Some of the shows in Vegas have sold out. When I attended on Dec.2nd, I ended up with a vip ticket and a stand only ticket and I sold it to this guy that came from california for less than a 3rd of the cost because it was sold out and he couldn't get a ticket.(They wouldn't let me upgrade, like I thought)

Maybe one of the reasons that Britney Spears sold out on New Years and Prince didn't was because Britney's was a new years party, (plus she's a lot less talented than Prince), and Prince's wasn't, but he took the opportunity to up the price for new Years, but had no count down at midnight, plus, people knew they could come at a later date for a lot less money.
